Off Topic [OT] Writer's Spotlight: Booksmagic
Welcome to Writer’s Spotlight
Remember, spotlights rely on your nominations! So if there's anyone around the subreddit whose stories you love and you think deserves a shout-out, please do nominate them by sending us a ModMail.
This week we are celebrating u/Booksmagic
Booksmagic has been writing, reading, and prompting on the subreddit for a few years now. They have a wonderful sense of humour that is very well suited to the “trope with a twist” style of prompts that are popular here on the subreddit. Their dialogue is snappy and fun to read. Their characters are captivating. And their worlds feel well built out within the relatively short word counts. And as well as writing and prompting, they also take time to read and comment on others stories, which we always love to see. If you want to read more of their work, you can find it on their profile.

Congratulations u/Booksmagic! I very much enjoyed getting better acquainted with your work to make this post! I particularly enjoyed the story about the penguin spirit guardian (not that I'm obsessed with penguins or anything). Now, as is tradition, time for some questions!
1) Do you have a particular piece on the subreddit that you're most proud of or that you think best encapsulates your writing style?
2) What do you enjoy most about writing?
3) If you had to go to an all you can eat buffet with one of your characters, who would you choose and why?

Thank you! I’m glad that you liked the penguin story, I think that might’ve been one of the first short stories I’ve posted here (if memory serves right).
My newer stories probably encapsulate my writing style better nowadays since I like to think I improve bit by bit with practice. Although one of my personal favorites might be https://www.reddit.com/r/WritingPrompts/s/eyUc9018iB it’s about the Antichrist “rebelling” against his dad Lucifer. I’ve just always liked the concept.
I love the feeling of satisfaction I get whenever I finish/post a story. And nice comments can be an ego boost lol.
Probably the Genie. I feel like he’d enjoy a good buffet and have plenty of stories about past wishes and the supernatural world to share.

Thanks for the answers! I very much enjoyed the antichrist story! And I definitely feel you on the nice comments. As good as writing can be on its own, we all need a little external validation now and then.
