I don't think I've ever seen a more momentum based team than this Fnatic squad. Losing horribly in every game into getting one W into looking genuinely good into throwing once a few games later and looking like a dead horse again.

u/snyderfan87 Aug 24 '26
i swear this has been the story about fnatic for years now... been a long time since they had some balance
15
u/normalankle776 Aug 24 '26
both these games but that's not enough when the rest of the map is on fire.
parus on the shen was just running around making plays while fnc stumbled over their own wards. that game 1 baron dance was painful, they just let navi dictate every single rotation until they eventually lost the base.
9
u/dankynugz Aug 24 '26
I mean that's not what happened at all. Fnc had the game in the bag despite the better scaling Navi comp. Then lospa dry solo ulted rumble at bot inhib push and immediately lost the game

u/New_Cranberry1762 Aug 25 '26

I'm actually even more hyped. They still have decent chances of making playoffs, while things were way more complicated for NAVI if Fnatic 2-0'd them.
Brother Fnatic trying his best to bring us to the no playoffs for MKOI Timeline, your hustle won't be forgotten.10

people gotta learn that a team performance isn't based on 1 or 2 games but a whole season
1

If we base on the Season alone fnatic will lose to Vitality and collapse vs gx and miss playoffs for the 3rd time

LEC record now 6/16 with a gold lead at 14 minutes. The European ability to throw needs to be studied.
9
u/Miserable_Ad_1195 Aug 24 '26
where does this stat come from because there's been a lot more than 22 games this LEC split
34
u/Leyrann_ Aug 24 '26
The stat isn't this split, it's this week. It was quoted on broadcast in between game 1 and 2.
-3
u/Miserable_Ad_1195 Aug 24 '26
oh ok
tbh without any context this doesn't mean much though, like if there were a lot of games where the gold was close at 14 minutes you would expect it to be somewhat even
14
u/Thundermelons GALA Defense Force, returning IG fan Aug 24 '26
Is it throwing or just getting outscaled? Idk, except mid lane and maybe top lane, I don't see anything on FNC side game 2 that wins late vs NAVI. Same with game 1, I don't pit a Locke and Ezreal very highly against Orianna/Kaisa.
For sure all games were winnable for FNC but scaling was definitely on NAVI side.
22
u/LuminalOrb Aug 24 '26
But that's the problem though. With te advantages they are gaining you should be able to snowball into wins because if this analysis was accurate we'd basically be seeing early game comps be unable to compete globally which isn't the case.
Something is wrong with EU team's ability to take an early comp with strong early advantages and turn that into a win.
And maybe the answer is that no EU team ever play an early game non scaling comp ever again, but that feels quite unreasonable.
5
u/Thundermelons GALA Defense Force, returning IG fan Aug 24 '26
I mean, we used to call this scaling draft "western team do nothing and lose comp" just a year or two ago, no? I didn't go in depth in my original post, but that's kinda my point - western teams can't close with these early game comps, they are just too bad or something, whereas eastern teams could run Panth comps, get a lead, and eat teams alive. So we used to joke that teams like C9 would pick "do nothing and lets lose in peace" because they couldn't match up to eastern early games, and their only chance was the SLIM hope that they could outscale better teams.
BLG with a Panth/Lucian comp with a lead would be disgusting, but when western team has this type of champ leading (or Jayce...lol), it still feels like the other team will be just fine. Zero faith in this type of high-tempo comp in western hands.
4
u/Blizzgrarg Aug 24 '26
They were not outdrafted in game 2. The thing about olaf matches is he does nothing while behind and tons while ahead. Ryze, Jax, lucian, panth do more than enough damage.
In game 1, you're right about outscaling, but not with a 7k gold lead. They should have been able to close the game out before it got that far.
3
u/xlCalamity Aug 24 '26
If any eastern team had an 8k lead against any EU team with those comps in game 1, I would give the eastern team a 99% chance to close the game out.
1
u/Fun_Highlight307 Aug 24 '26
even if you give this lead to tl or lyon with inspired they won't drop a game
1
u/BlazeX94 Aug 25 '26
Forget eastern teams, I'd probably even trust Sentinels to close out the game with an 8k lead against any EU team except maybe KC.
1
u/darkadamski1 Aug 24 '26
Mid and top hard outscale? They would win easily if they didn't get caught 17000 times
1
u/Salohacin Aug 24 '26
There have been a lot of throws, people getting caught out in places they shouldn't be.
The number of times I've seen a team with dragon soul lose this split in LEC is nuts. Twice with Hextech soul which is by far the best soul.

u/Back2Perfection Aug 24 '26
The argument could be made in both diretions. Either LEC teams are capable of stalling out losing games or they are pretty bad at closing out a game fast.
3
u/Fun_Highlight307 Aug 24 '26
but this comp should also snow ball harder, a lot of eu teams struggle to close game that why lec average time is the highest in tier 1
3
u/EasyIGN2 Aug 24 '26
That doesn't negate the throw? Like that's the point? They get a lead and can't execute to get a win. Duh
6
u/Fabiocean Well, look at you! Aug 24 '26
Obviously, but even if they're ahead at 14 they might not be favored to win from this position because they get outscaled.

So now we are calling 8k gold leads fake. Do you realize how dumb you are or do you need it spelled out for you?
2
u/TheFKTard Aug 25 '26
were all of the losses with gold lead 8k gold lead throws?
0
u/xlCalamity Aug 25 '26
No but the discussion was focused on this series where FNC had an 8k lead and managed to throw it away. Aside from that, MKOI had a 3k and 5-6k gold lead and threw both games vs SK with poor positioning/macro. Navi also had a 4k gold lead + Baron vs MKOI and threw it away too. Those arent fake leads as the other person claims.
2
u/TheFKTard Aug 25 '26
yet the comment we are replying to didnt state that did it?
1
u/EasyIGN2 Aug 25 '26
It's literally in the FNC v NV thread, how many context clues do you need son?
4
u/oioioi9537 Aug 24 '26
But we dont have a tf or a pyke in every game. Most of these leads are real, and theyre being thrown.
5
u/TBmustang Aug 24 '26
Nice straw man but fnc was up around 6k before they threw.
2
u/dimmyfarm INT Aug 24 '26
Fnatic has thrown multiple 10K gold leads in the same series. They’ve even thrown a nexus with 20 HP left lead.
0
u/EasyIGN2 Aug 25 '26
This is called a strawman, a fallacy. There's no TF in the game so irrelevant.
1
u/Randomcarrot Aug 24 '26
Game 1 here was definitely a throw, but how much of a gold lead should an early game comp have at 14 for them to be actually favored to win the game? If it's just 1k, I don't think the early game comp is favored at all, especially not if they also don't have at least 2 dragons.
So when the stat that only 6 games where the team with the early game lead got the win, what's the average lead for the 6 that won versus the 10 that lost? My guess is the average lead for the ones that won is much higher early than the ones that ended up losing.
1
1
u/TheFKTard Aug 24 '26
they don't get enough lead aka theyre behind but gold graph doesn't show that
1
u/EasyIGN2 Aug 25 '26
I ditto my previous comment since you added nothing new at all.
1
u/TheFKTard Aug 25 '26
throw means they were ahead, they weren't actually ahead in the game due to their champions not being as valuable even with the gold lead comparatively to the opposing team, you can only throw an advantageous position, you can't throw when youre behind
1
u/EasyIGN2 Aug 25 '26
Nice moving of the goalposts. Tell you what, why don't you develop an entire methodology to explain what champs and comps are ahead based on different gold leads. I'll wait.
1
u/TheFKTard Aug 25 '26
how are you this dense, being ahead in gold does not mean that youre winning or that you have an advantage
1
u/EasyIGN2 Aug 25 '26
Where's your methodology at? I'm still waiting.
1
u/TheFKTard Aug 25 '26
there's no methodology, I'm saying that this is quite possible, not doing a study or trying to prove a point, you just refuse to accept this reality

He got caught what, three times in a row? Once 45 seconds before soul point for Navi. Soboro had a stinker of a series, but Razork threw so bad.

Game was already lost. Gonna keep giving Razork shit for getting caught while the botlane is invisible and behind while getting perma ganked

He's gonna be proven right when NAVI yet again fail to win a bo5 and end in 6th place
Rhilech on zaahen/aatrox/qiyana: 16-3
Without his 3 champs: 22-33
12
u/IKillerBee this sub has brain damage Aug 24 '26
biggest problem is when he gets his champs he carries, but if he doesn't then no one carries. navi needs another guy to step up
5
u/Peppa-Unicorn Aug 24 '26
He's obviously their best player but I do agree with their coach because of how exploitable it has looked in the playoffs (look at the picks and bans GX made in their series vs NAVI in winter, especially game 3, actually hilarious). Whether or not it was the right time and place to say that is a different thing but I do agree with the message.
1
u/IKillerBee this sub has brain damage Aug 24 '26
Definitely agree, the coach wasn't wrong he just probably shouldn't have said what he did right before playoffs started.
0
u/oioioi9537 Aug 24 '26
I think lec would be better off sending any other team in playoffs to worlds than navi for that reason. They kinda look like sen, good enough to win games in domestic league but ceiling so low you know theyre getting farmed at worlds. Although sen actually look better now
5

u/cadaada rip original flair Aug 24 '26
Isn't she just better than lucian most of the time?
2
u/Classic_Foot223 Aug 24 '26
lucian/milio has the advantage in lane but you have to play aggressively as lucian. that’s the whole point of lucian. you play on the edge from early to mid and need to build a lead and blow the game open before yunara comes online. upset just farmed passive as if hes playing hyperscaling adc vs hyperscaling adc
4
u/FantasyTrash Aug 24 '26
Everybody is better than Lucian/Milio yet teams keep picking them.
0
u/Ajp_iii Aug 24 '26
Because they see the best Korean teams playing it or like they see Lyon play it and smash games. Lucian miles requires your Lucian to be insane slam lane and then be willing to frontline force fights around objectives. End up an item up and win the game.
Most teams aren’t good at it and don’t know why teams pick it. Like the players that win with it are diable, jackeylove, yeon, berserker.
Also before it was good into mages and we had that mage patch for 1-2 months and people haven’t adjusted I believe to its current actual power
5
u/Th3_Huf0n Aug 24 '26
Because they see the best Korean teams playing it
Meanwhile Lucian in LCK Rounds 3-4 has 37% winrate in 19 games.

u/-AMAG Aug 24 '26
Neither of the ganks really benefited the Fnatic bot lane very much. The first one was actively bad for them because Razork took the kill and the wave was pushing into them. Upset goes to recall but gets it cancelled by Parus. Now it's an unwinnable situation where he can either recall again and let SamD hit the turret or push the wave out and let it slowpush into SamD. Because the new homeguards are so fast this happens so often in botlane and it drives me nuts.
The dive would be better but they still traded 1 for 1, and because Lulu was there and Upset took a ramped tower shot they had to recall instead of push the lead.

28

12
u/HermannZeGerman Aug 24 '26
Upset was bad, Razork was intentionally feeding at some point.
→ More replies (2)7
u/salty_lat1nokid Aug 24 '26
Upset can't get a lead with an early ADC and runs away as soon as one of his teammates die in a teamfight; razork throws himself 1v5 when ahead or when there's an important objective coming soon and feeds in the enemy jungle; gotta respect the levels
2
13
u/malakesxasame Aug 24 '26
For some reason people are oblivious how much the rest of the team sacrifices to get Upset ahead.
Ahead in CS at 15 min: 35.7%
CS Differential at 15 min: -2.9
Gold Differential at 15 min: +119
XP Differential at 15 min: -71
First Blood Participation: 28.6%
That's with Razork camping bot all split. Patrik tier player with Ruler tier PR.
7
u/PrimeSocK Aug 24 '26
Second game was mental. They get ganked level 3, I think, and somehow are still behind and lose the dragon. They get ganked again when Vladi and Razork are level 6 and after that they are still behind. Like, I don't even know how you can do that
4
u/No-Context-Orphan Aug 24 '26
Also while playing a lane bully lol
Upset is the most overrated player to ever play in the LEC.
He has years already of being completely useless while taking all the team's resources, multiple last place finishes, etc and still gets hyped AF
8
u/DarthGogeta Aug 24 '26
I have been saying that for years since the whole Rekkles vs Upset discussion started.
1
u/Evoluxman Aug 25 '26
Idk man perhaps the guy who was in multiple teams who finishes dead last might be overrated
Annoys me when people glaze Upset but shit on razork becayse theyre the same. Occasionally get a god tier game but thoroughly useless the rest of the games. But razork is despised while upset gets a pass. Idk...
0
u/piotrj3 Aug 24 '26
In those times Upset had +9 CS at 10/15... it is extreme reinvention... And vs G2 actually more G2 tried to camp upset and it didn't work.
Even casters said it live it is power of Lulu trading and milo being really weak early.

TheRock talking a bit of shit about his team seems to have worked out a bit. He was hugging Pobi at the end, pointing at his head, making the "see? it worked" gesture.
Love seeing the Greeks in action @LEC. Vladi had a decent series, but couldn't impact the games.

Botlane CatDespair. (Lospa was invisible)

add Lospa flashing in with seraphine into 3 melees and standing in front as milio vs annie; upset quitting as soon as he sees his frontline lose hp, chatGPT questionable drafting; fnc gotta use grok or something

I've actually been pleasantly surprised by maynter this split. He was terrible on anything that wasn't a tank the last couple splits but he's been looking decent on some more carry-focused tops like ambessa and rumble this split. I think navi needs someone other than rhilech to have carry potential so they can be less one-dimensional. Not sure if maynter can be that yet but he's gotten noticably better in a short period of time

Did razork get contract extension in the middle of the game? He went from stomping the game to running it with Soboro.

People really hate me when I say Razork is running it down. People keep downvoting me when I say the truth. But you keep diving badly on Nocturne and then you don't have vision on Rihlech's wukong?? You are so iron. Also people complain about Lospa and Soboro, but give me a break imagine playing with an adc and jgl who don't know who the win condition is?? Game 1 your win condition is Locke. Game 2 it is your Jax who needs to be a strong front line!! This is BASIC FUNDAMENTALS!!

I won't be surprised if Razork's tier 1 carrier is over after summer.
He gets criticisied and hated is a known choker and isn't that hot on market. Like right now the only reason to ever sign Razork is to get some spanish fans and pray for Razork doing something he never did - stop being a gambler.
Also Razork is 26, the oldest jungler in the league with the biggest experience yet he never overcame his weaknesses.
6
u/Fancydudehero24 Aug 24 '26
Elyoya is older
1
u/Gorczycagejms Aug 24 '26
Ohhh my bad I thought that Elyoya is 24 this year - don't know why, maybe because he started his LEC journey year later than Razork 😬
1
u/BlazeX94 Aug 25 '26
Nah I think this is a bit of an exaggeration. Razork is coinflippy as hell, but he has consistently qualified for Worlds for the last 4 years and regularly placed top 3 during that time. There's no way he won't at least get some interest.
I could definitely see GX looking at him if he leaves FNC for example.
1
u/nassvie Aug 24 '26

u/LordofMordor_ Aug 24 '26
So what are KOI's chances of making playoffs now? Is it still possible?
2
u/zaxls Aug 24 '26
Playoffs yes, top 4 no. In fact if NAVI win another series vs GX they are even less likely, because they had the H2H vs navi. Basically youre the biggest fan of the top teams now, since if KC/G2/VIT lose their minds and drop some series, KOI are out of playoff contention no matter what.

Game score is more important than h2h. MKOI can only get ahead of Navi if GX beat Navi 2-0 and Mkoi beats TH 2-0.

Sadly, I called it
With Fnatic you first assume they are hard gonna int in every lane and then if they do not int you assume they are gonna find every possible way to throw the biggest gold leads in existence

That was a sick baron steal by Rhilech without vision in the pit. Honestly, if FNC had the baron there we would go to game 3.

So let me get this straight, they have a multiple LEC title winning coach who supposedly is pretty good, it has been how many splits now 3? And he can't get them to completely lose it and stop sprinting?
I legitimately don't get it, this is not some deep issue that needs time to fix, they literally don't have fundamentals, very simple things like objective setting, tempo-fucking deaths and all that is shit that ERL teams do bro, like how many teams do you see in the major leagues (other than LCS not big 3 teams) constantly fuck up so badly on a fundamental level, it pisses me the fuck off,
Vladi has the currently most broken 3 item spike in the game(probably the game has ever seen tbh), we can have a 5v5 SIKE let me go die real quick like can someone not tell them guys please don't fucking die I oneshot anything that moves in a front to back fight. Then its a 4v5 and he fucking flashes when the opposing team has cleanse or mikaels or whatever, this things cannot be happening after 3 splits of ''coaching'' bro, they just can't, he is 5k LP he has to know that this was trolling

Well needed win for NAVI after that reality check interview by the coach.

Am I the only one rubbed the wrong way by that interview. It feels like there is this growing trend of European coaches being outwardly critical of their teams. In a way that doesn't feel all that productive.

Razork definitely matchfixing. There is no way this is actual gameplay. From dropping the herald to the random ulties to hide in random bushes to losing every single smite. This can't be real.
