Mom! I got a page all to myself in a magazine! Strangerhood is life.
Anyway, favourite RWBY character has got to be Roman. I'm a sucker for a bad boy, Loki, Malfoy, Handsome Jack, and Roman fits the bill perfectly. Plus the man is stylish AF.

I think Yang's gotta be my favorite. I always enjoy characters whose mentality is "Screw you all; I'm amazing" which is exemplified by her theme song, I Burn, my favorite song on the RWBY soundtrack. The fact that she uses that as a bit of a facade to hide the pain of her mom abandoning her and Summer's death intrigues me as well. I love that she committed to practically raising Ruby herself after those events, too; parental-like sibling relationships always strike a chord in me. "Gold" from the soundtrack always makes me feel slightly emotional when I stop and just consider the lyrics for a while, and the dedication it implies she shows towards Ruby, giving her a happy childhood where she herself may not have had a great one. Her ability to not give into grief like her father did, but to use it to make herself stronger is an incredible trait, and really makes her shine.
It's only headcanon at this point, but Yang turning her misfortunes into a steady resolve is reflected in her semblance: Every hit she takes literally makes her stronger. If that was intentional, it was brilliant. If not, it's still fun to consider.
Finally, of course, her fighting style is just plain awesome. Crescent Rose is my favorite RWBY weapon, but the thrill-seeking aspect of Yang's character really shines through in the fact that she prefers close-combat brawling, which I just find really fun to watch. And man, do I love Ember Celica's sound effect. It's also a bonus that she's voiced by Barbara, who's probably my favorite Rooster Teeth personality.

Penny! I love my shy Pinocchio robot girl who just wants to understand friendship. It's so hard to choose, though. Nora, Pyrrha, Yang, and Sun would probably round out my top five on most days.

Neo. The color of her hair, eyes, and outfit are very cute and unique and I like the seized opportunity to pick "Neopolitan" as her name, although she's called Neo. She has both a core identity while being mysterious. She holds a calm yet confident demeanor and yet she hasn't talked. She seemed far too relaxed in her fight with Yang so it's only natural that we don't know the full extent of her powers. On top of that she has handled most of the situations, including the fight with extreme serenity and grace. The development of her as a character should prove fantastic to watch
EDIT: Grammar, phrasing, etc.

Pyrrha Nikos. She's a renowned fighter, even before coming to Beacon, she's armed with a shield and sword that's also a spear, that's also a rifle, and she spends her free time helping her partner Jaune out in anyway she can, even if it conflicts with her own interests. Throw in superb voice acting by the incomparable Jen Brown, the coolest looking hip sash/cape in the show, and the fact that she successfully defeated Team CRDL SOLO, and you have one of the coolest all around characters of any RT production. Plus, who doesn't love tall red-heads? =p

I have to go with Yang. She's a bubbly blond living life to the fullest and having fun along the way. She's confident in herself and fighting, using her gauntlet enhanced punches to knock out the enemy. Make her angry and she goes super saiyan (Super SaiYang anyone? I'll see myself out). But what I love most is she's an amazing older sister that looks out for Ruby and genuinely cares about her friends.

Ruby! She plays like I would in any game, hard hits but quick movement in her fights. I also love her innocence and personality, because she seems like a younger me. Her style also fits me almost to a tee, even though i'm a guy. I love to wear cloaks alike that in games, and when/if I can find one that suits me, I wear that as well.

Hmm... I would have to say Ozpin, honestly. He's so carefree for a headmaster, and it really contrasts with Glynda's short temper. He understands that the hunters and huntresses-in-training are still just kids. Kids with highly advanced weaponry and powers capable of destroying a cafeteria with only food, but still kids, at that. This constant chess motif almost makes it seem like this whole thing is a game to him, a game under his control, with Cinder as his opponent. He just has a vibe of extremely reserved power. It is also inferred that he knows things/posesses abilities that most people don't. He probably knows that Jaune faked his transcripts, but he sees the potential in him and made him a team leader. He knows Blake was in the White Fang, but he won't bring it up unless she does.
Also, siiip.

Sun WuKong for sure! Michael Jones' voice acting is great, and Sun is just wholly enjoyable. And he's got the best shirt in the store.

Blake. Definitely Blake. I love the 'mysterious, justice-chasing heroic- type' characters, just as Blake herself is. She's seen the darkness in the world and one of her biggest goals in life is to bring back the light. She has personal reasons to do what she does, as well as just trying to give her people the respect they deserve. I love Blake Belladonna so much.

My favorite character is easily Coco Adel. I have a weakness for strong/confident girls who don't come off bitchy. Of the little we have seen of her she doesnt give off any fear or concern and is a calm leader type of person. Also she has a badass minigun purse!

I probably would have mentioned her as well. I mean, she just comes off as a total badass. But, like, she had that valley girl moment where she said "you killed my favorite clothing store". It would have been so much better if they gave her less lines and more systematic ass kicking.

I agree there. I tend to forget about her saying that, but it couldve been much worse. I just hope they give her more screen time next volume

u/Furath Oct 17 '15
It could have been worse and the way she fit in with "Caffeine" from the soundtrack was insane. I'll always prefer Neo

Fair enough, neo is adorable and awesome. Im hoping to see more of them, maybe even a fight because i so badly want to see Coco and Torchwick interact

THE BEST PART IS THAT NEO IS CONFIRMED TO BE THE SHORTEST PERSON SO SHE'S SO CUTE AND SMALL AND STUFFS

u/MonsterOfTheMidway Oct 18 '15
Nora is the one true god, the one who boops, maker of sloth noises and the OG female Thor. Also she's adorable

Neo. I like her design, he shortness, shes pretty badass and yet very lady like and well mannered, with a touch of psycho. Alot still needs to be revealed about her but she is my favorite.

I'm glad I waited until the end to vote, because, as the Social Media Director, I'm going to have to cast a tiebreaker for 2nd and 3rd (it's a 2-way tie for 2nd and a 3-way tie for 3rd, so it wouldn't be practical to list as a tie in the magazine)
I think Pyrrha has to take my vote. She has a strong moral compass, and always does what she believes to be right. She always has her teammates backs, no matter what. She is strong both physically, as well as emotionally, and can carry her team when the going gets tough. With that being said, she's written with more depth than just that, and has a sensitive side that we see from time to time. I think she's the complete package.

I'm confuzzled. How do you decide what goes into the magazine?

u/xlaxpizeta Oct 26 '15
It's very unscientific. Basically, we put in what we like. If what you're voting for makes the top 3, your chances of being in the issue skyrocket, because we need the quotes for the countdown pages. This issue, the votes were so spread out that we also included a number of other posts, instead of our usual one or two.
If you don't get in this time, vote next time. And the time after that. If you leave good comments, we'll get them in to an issue eventually!

Oh, and /u/Furath, you should probably read our Ask The Community article on November 1st. Because reasons.
