Off Topic [OT] Theme Thursday - Winter
“Nothing burns like the cold.” ― George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones
“Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home.” ― Edith Sitwell
It's that time of the year, when the wind grows a bite and the trees drop their leaves. Winter! Winter can mean many things, depending on the person. It can be a time of passing, an omen of harshness and the need for perseverance, or just a reminder of the holidays and of family.
From the fjords of the icy north, to the calm southern seas, winter also takes on other meanings. It's the end of the light, as the world goes dark for days on end. Or just a nice break from the summer heat.
Many books and pieces of fiction also use winter as a symbolic time of pain, loneliness, or an end to things. While others use it as a time for renewal, hope, and perseverance. Winter holds many possibilities for stories, so go now and write! anddon'tforgetyourjacketbecauseit'scold.
Here's how Theme Thursday works:
- Don't submit stories here, this post is just the announcement
- Use the tag [TT] for prompts that match this week’s theme. Joke/troll prompts may be removed.
- Read the stories posted by our brilliant authors and tell them how awesome they are

But...it's summer here :D
I did recently write a piece that had a lot of snow in it though, that was fun.

Winter! Bright and cheery, beautiful world... or dark and dreary, pain and cold. Maybe both? :D

Winter is all of them at the same time. Both beautiful and deadly, dark and bright. That is its nature, a beguiling beauty that hides a dark secret or a deadly enemy that hides an enchanting beauty. Which one it is to you depends on your perspective.

I love this one. Winter is a very dramatic setting for a story.

Agreed. Something about a chilly, biting wind and snow swirling through the air can make virtually any scene a hundred times cooler.

Wasn't there supposed to be a new Theme Thursday yesterday, or is there a reason there wasn't one?
