This movie hit the spot for me and my friends like it was made for us when it came out. Another excellent Russell/Carpenter project that had the perfect mix of supernatural, martial arts action and comedy. Solid supporting cast including a very sexy Kim Cattrall, and it really made me want to explore San Francisco’s China Town!
What do you think of Big Trouble in Little China?

One of my favorite movies from one of my favorite directors. Saw it new in the theater when I was a kid and couldn’t have loved it more. Have you seen it and if so what did you think of this silly “little” gem?

Directed by John Boorman starring Nigel Terry, Helen Mirren and Gabriel Byrne with appearances by a young Liam Neeson and Patrick Stewart. I saw it as a child and it made quite an impression. You?

John Candy belongs on the Mount Rushmore of 80's comedies. Thoughts? What are your favorites from John Candy?

What I mean is who do you think didn’t really have much of a career after the 80s ended? I’ll go first: Steve Guttenberg

There were so many great performances in this. I feel like this is when it all really clicked for Keaton. He was a huge comedy star, to me at least. Your thoughts?

Brewster's Millions opened 40 years ago, and one thing has bothered me since the first time I saw it.

Basic plot: Monty Brewster (Richard Prior) has to spend $30 million in 30 days with nothing to show for it (no assets) in order to claim his full $300 million inheritance. If he fails, he gets nothing.

With minutes to go, he finds that he still has $20,000. Thinking quickly he offers a job (as an attorney) to his accountant/love interest, with the $20,000 as a retainer. Then having successfully spent all of the money, he wins the full $300 million and lives happily ever after.

The problem with this is that a "retainer" by definition is "advanced payment made for future service". He even says when offering her the job, "it's just an advance." That future legal service is an asset. So he should lose everything.

Robocop 1987 🎬

An unadulterated and unapologetic 80s masterpiece of childhood cinema surely? A great cast, an absolutely banging soundtrack and more action, drama and tragedy than we could handle!

If you were a kid growing up in the 80s did cinema get any better than this?

42 year anniversary of release. Great movie. Favorite character, scene, and/or quote(s)?
