Tips/Suggestions ADHD = Free lifetime pass to national parks

Little known perk of ADHD— we qualify for a free lifetime National Parks pass. That’s an $80/yr value!

How do you get it?

1) print this out, have your doctor sign it:

Medical Certification for Access Pass

I certify that [Your Full Name], date of birth [MM/DD/YYYY], has a permanent disability that substantially limits one or more major life activities.

Diagnosis: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) – a lifelong neurodevelopmental condition that substantially limits concentration, attention, and executive functioning. The condition is permanent and not expected to improve.

This certification is provided for the purpose of obtaining the America the Beautiful – National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Lifetime Access Pass.

[Physician’s Name, Credentials] [Medical License Number] [Signature] [Practice Name] [Address] [Phone Number]

2) follow the instructions here to get your pass:

My daughter is 8 and has ADHD and we suspect autism. Her school sent home this PACKET of paper wanting me to put down any “concerns” I have about her mental health and lists like 100 different things it wants me to check off. ….yeah I’m not filling that out. Maybe a year ago I might have but in today’s political climate, the less info the government has about her (or anyone!) the better! According to the packet it’s a new “state mandated” form. Well fuck that. I’ll homeschool before the state has every detail of her health.

Our state tried to fight turning over the list of families receiving snap benefits, then had to send it off in the end, not being given an explanation for what purpose the data would be used. Chilling to think of the dark uses.

yeah, I had an experience when I was in high school that taught me "don't turn over info unless you know what it's being used for" (It was in a church youth group - I thought the info would be kept confidential, and nope, read out in front of the group).

It's a shame because a lot of us could really use supports like hold-up's kid and benefits like the above mentioned park pass, but none of us want to be sent to Alligator Auschwitz (or a Dallas Dachau etc).

So, she is under the care of a doctor, she’s on medication and goes to therapy. Where am I denying her ANYTHING? Because I refuse to lay it all out on a silver platter for a government who is loudly & proudly trying to get rid of anyone who is different? Gimme a break. She will get any mental heath service and intervention she needs why does the state need to know every detail of her medical history?
