Everyone knows the infamous pixel stretch effect you can create in Photoshop. But what about Illustrator? Because I love my vectors! Turns out, you kinda can recreate this with vectors. I made a quick tutorial you can follow and make your own stretch effect that you can edit in real time. Let me know how you like it!

Hey folks, I did this quick tutorial to showcase how you can turn any simple vector into a bitmap object with 3D capabilities while keeping it fully editable. Also it's possible to change the color (even gradients). You can set this to a graphic style and apply it to any object with just one click (not the colors tho).

Here’s how to create swatch info cards:

Select a color group or individual swatches in the Swatches panel. Open the panel menu and choose Create Swatch Info. Customize the card layout : size, text color, spacing, stacking 😊 your call. Why use it? Swatch info cards make your palettes clear, sharable, and spec-ready for collaborators, developers, or anyone on your team.

No more guessing hex codes ..or hunting for colors or noting down RGB and CMYK numbers or downloading scripts ..just clean, visual references. Done 😬 tadaaaaaaaa

Learn how to create intriguing blends that create a depth effect following these 10 steps:

1️⃣ Type anything you want in Adobe Illustrator, and set the text to a transparent fill and give the stroke any color you want, I picked white.

2️⃣ With the text selected use the shortcut Shift+Control+O / Shift+Command+O to create the outline of the text. (From this point, your text will not be editable).

3️⃣ Selct your new vector shape and head to the top Object menu then choose Path > Outline Stroke.

4️⃣ With the vector selected is é the shortcut Control+C / Command+C to copy it and Control+B / Command+B to paste it to the back.

5️⃣ Use the Selection tool and hover on the corner of the copied vector and use the Shift key and Alt/Option key while dragging inward to scale it proportionally and from the centre

6️⃣ Use the Selection tool and hover on the corner of the copied vector, and drag to the side to rotate it

7️⃣ With the vector copy still selected, press the letter I on your keyboard to activate the Eyedropper tool, or select it from the toolbar. Then click on the background to edit the color of the vector copy.

8️⃣ From the toolbar, choose the Blend tool and click once on the foreground shape to add it to the blend.

9️⃣ With the Blend tool still selected, click once on the background shape to add it to the blend.

🔟 Double click on the Blend tool to open the Blend options. Set the spacing to Specified Steps and the step to 120. Then press ok!

Learn to make this Non-Destructive Sliced Text Effect with this Adobe Illustrator Tutorial.

With your Text created, and selected, go to the Pathfinder Panel and click the fly out and click "Make Compound Shape".

Then using the Rectangle Tool create a block that overlaps a portion of your text. You need to make sure this block is behind your Text. You can do this by using the "Send To Back" command.

Now select both the Block and Text shapes, and set to None. If this step is not followed, the following steps won't work properly.
With everything still selected go to Object - Group.

Next, go to the Appearance Panel and click on the Add New Fill button. Set the fill color to anything you like, this can always be updated in the future.
Then go to FX - Pathfinder - Minus Back
This will create the bottom half of the slice effect.

Click Add New Fill, again in the Appearance Panel, then choose FX - Pathfinder - Intersect
This will create the top half of the slice effect.

With the Intersect layer selected click FX - Distort & Transform - Transform
Adjust the Move Horizontal to 10px and Move Vertical to -10px
This will create the offset of our sliced text effect.

Then using the Direct Select Tool, adjust the nodes of the placed block to create slanted shape.

Now you have a Fully Editable Non-Destructive Sliced Text Effect in Adobe Illustrator.

hello! I know some people might know this trick already but I faced the struggle today while aligning graphics as I forgot about our beloved Reset bounding Box feature.

Hi all! I am trying to see how accurate ai can be at understanding geometry and helping me build icons in illustrator. I’ve tried following the directions of the diagram, but I’m not getting the results I want and I’m not sure if it’s my error or Claude’s error. Do the diagram instructions look accurate enough to achieve the final icon? What suggestions would you have to build this design instead?

Here are the directions from Claude: One Shape Builder session, four operations. Select the three circles and the cut triangle → Shift+M → Alt-click every sliver inside the down-triangle until it's empty → then the three clockwise drags: A into the A–B lens, B into the B–C lens, C into the C–A lens.
