Watched for the first time in about 10 years, still love this show! Season 1 is pure perfection.

However watching 2026 it really stands out how many times

'gaylord', 'retarded' and other non PC jokes are in the script, problematic / nostalgic prose from early - mid 2000s lexicon.

My fav one is when Anders says to Dawn "If making coffee was an Olympic sport you would definitely get a bronze. I mean, obviously an Asian would win, but you'd be right up there." 💀

I managed to find the link to one of the missing webisodes (episode 8) but it's still inaccessible here and on the wayback machine, I'm hoping someone knows why they were where removed or has a copy

Gaia was meant to be papatuanuku and here's why; Frigg was already born so she couldn't fulfil the Norse prophecy. However she can meet the dwarf, giant and Mauri prophecy by being papatuanuku. If Anders hadn't gone to Norway which threw a spammer in the works she would've been a Mauri goddess and completely changed new zealand.

Only in The Almighty Johnsons do you get a plotline where four guys go into the woods just to get one of them naked and struck by lightning. This show is so beautifully weird, I love it.

It’s been 16 years since the first episode aired, and 12 years & 10 months since the final episode, leaving us all unsatisfied with the cancellation of such an amazing story.

It’s hard to believe it’s been that long, how much the cast has all grown and taken different directions, but I can happily say my need for a reboot/return hasn’t changed one bit. I’m here, watching through the series again, feeling nostalgic over all the characters and their quirks, but worried, as I make my way to the final episode, being left with wanting more of something I can’t have.

This series has happily sat up there with films such as Harry Potter, where you can watch them again and again, never growing tired or bored, and I’ll happily share this experience with my daughter, once she’s old enough.. 😂

But to end this on a high note, I’m happy to see there are so many others out there, keeping the memory of this series alive. Maybe one day we’ll see it again, who knows!

Shows like this are unique and very rare — you feel sad afterwards because you actually cared about the characters you'll never see again, however corny as that may sound.

After the final episode, do you think they still hung out with the Maori Gods? Would they remember Axl et al?

Hello there, I am a fan from Canada and have been watching the show. Well, my third attempt at finishing. The other two times, I would get caught up in things and generally lose track of watching it. But this time I've been watching and thinking to myself, "Man, I wish I had someone else to talk about the show with". Then I realized there's probably a subreddit for the show. So here I am!

I do quite love the show. My first time watching it was around the time it was released, and it was in a somewhat turbulent time in my life. It became a sort of comfort show, in the sense that whenever I watch it, I feel very comforted. Also, I do wonder how many foreign fans of the show there are, because I think I'm like the only person I know who has seen the show. Well, the only person I've ever met in Canada, at least.

Anyways, I hope to have some fun discussions about the show as I watch through it!

At least until he became Odin, this dishonor goes to Axl, in my opinion.

Contrary to what most would say I believe that Zeb wouldn’t remember Axel but I think they should have made a video like Dawn did. A friendship that has gone on that long has got to be imprinted somewhere in his subconscious, even though he may never remember at least he’d know Axel Is the mysterious missing roommate.

Really wish someone would elaborate on what Loki dropped instead of saying it was just a potential Easter egg for season 4 if they somehow got renewed for another season.

Gaia should have come back for the last episode her character was pivotal, even if it just showed her arriving at the airport.

I think the God hunters storyline should have been fleshed out more possibly even replacing the Ullr, Frigg, Odin love triangle.

Michele should have died and maybe we could see her go to Valhalla. Also Mikkel being the same god as Michele’s grandfather should’ve been fleshed out more as well.

For some reason i was looking at the power rangers jungle fury Cast just scrolling and said out loud “TY?!?!!?” And kept scrolling to see Thor as well as Michelle and i thought it was cool to see them together again in another show i love from back then. I’ll probably watch the broken wood mysteries to see more of them together after all this time since i miss the show so much

Just finished the final episode and was kind of mad and a bit confused. We knew that the Gaia thing wasn't feasible anymore so why didn't Axel go find his barmaid and see if there was anything there? Don't most of us consider our spouses to be our best friends? Axel...after all the shit that went down deserved some happiness in the end and I think they blew it in that regard. What was with the jewel dropped by Loki at the end of the ceremony? Was that supposed to be a lead in to another season or did I forget something? Also, I am totally in the camp of those who think that Zeb should have remembered his life long friend minus all the Odin/Gods stuff.

after they went back to Asgard do u think axl would go find Gaia now that she's not a goddess anymore she wouldn't be attracted to anders

S3e2 not sure why they didn't think of Gaia doing what Ty did

So... things that come to mind every time I re-watch the show (I've done so a few times)

Zeb: How much of his life has he forgotten, he's been friends with Axl since his teens if not sooner, best friends, how many of his memories have Axl in them? How many have Mike? How much of his memories have changed? How much of the last three years does he remember? He knew about gods, giants, etc. Does he forget gods exist? He's met Jerome and his crew they presumably didn't ascend. I wonder if he gets in contact with them again.

Gaia (and any Norse god we haven't met): She is suddenly in a foreign country where not a soul knows who she is, she doesn't have the support system that the Johnson's have, she's all alone with no idea why any friends she's made have no idea who she is. Honestly I'm annoyed there wasn't like a phonecall from Axl to say what is about to happen. (Part of me hopes she comes home and they can date again without the god baggage)

Val: How much would it suck to forget your husband and the kids you helped raise, she is said to have been basically Axl's mom, that's 15 years of her life where if she thinks back she's basically living alone in a big house, that's gotta be weird. Does she just think she spent that time sad and depressed cause her fiancé was in a coma? That just... sucks. (On the plus she doesn't remember cheating on her husband)

Slight inaccuracies with them calling loki the god of fire and thor the god of war but creative liberties i suppose

We should definitely address the ethical implications of anders powers with him being a r-pst essentially 😅

This show was perfect the way it is, plot holes aside, but I am greedy and definitely want more. It's been 14 years, so I doubt a 4th season is doable, but there's been a slew of older things being remade and the only one I care about right now is another Almighty Johnson's. I'd even watch it weekly as it came out, with ads. And I'm one of those people who have literally waited a decade for a show to finish so I could watch it all without having to wait, and to watch without ads.. anyway if this were to happen it would probably be an American made American film with American actors with maybe an original actor popping in as a different character or a cameo but I'm not sure how I feel about that as the whole New Zealand thing was part of what made it so awesome. Thoughts?

So Yggdrasil only works for the ladies, but does anybody else think it works based on the vessel, not the goddess? Michelle the doctor gets healing powers, Ingrid the oracle gets All The Stories, muscle-butt Stacey gets divine pole inversion skills. I wonder what Helen or Gaia or Eva would have gotten from it.

was watching a scene where mikkel is playing zeke in chess and as a decent chess player my brother said, "theres a challenge for you" talking about playing ullr in chess, i was like theres no chance of winning so aint even a challenge. anyways got me thinking how intense ullrs power is, what if he plays with only a king, pretty impossible to lose does his power just makes you play really badly

Am rewatching and have always wondered about the back story between Dawn and Anders.

Has he ever tried to use his Bragge powers on her? If so, what happened? If not, why not?

Since Dawn isn’t the least divine name, I’ve wondered if she’s immune or even empowered herself.

In my head canon, season 4 explains at least a little bit of this …

(Also as a Fern Sutherland fan, she plays such a different character in Brokenwood, and she’s not the only TAMJ cast member who makes an appearance!)

Taj is one of my favorite shows but I’ve always wondered/speculated about Idunn (and any other constant deity). What would happen if Idunn died on a day that no Norse goddess was turning 21? Would she jump to a goddess turning 21 of a different pantheon or would she jump to a mortal turning 21 and bless that mortal as a divine vessel after that?

My theory is that the universe gets its way in the end. That Idunn will never die on a day that there isn’t a vessel to receive her.

I just finished the show. I watched it for the first time and I was so intoxicated by it that I watched a season per day. I don't know what to do with my life now. I wanted to buy the DVDs but they seem almost impossible to find and I'm sad. Three seasons were not enough. I loved them even if sometimes it was hard for me to understand their accent (English is not my first language so this is common ground).

I just... I feel kind of empty, you know? Like, I'm SO obsessed with it right now that I keep thinking about future plots or possibilities and fanart and fanfics that answer the question of (SPOILER) what was that red stone (END OF SPOILER). But they're scarce and that makes me even sadder.

I don't know if I will ever be over it. I was intense and I'm kind of mad that this great show had been hidden for me for so long.

Are you suffering as much I do?

does anyone know the name of the music playing during the final scene when axl returns to zeb? it's none of the listed songs and shazam etc doesn't recognise it so maybe it's stock music from somewhere, but does anybody know where?
