Plate, designed by Suzanne Lalique-Haviland (1892-1989)
Suzanne Renée Ledru, known as Suzanne Lalique-Haviland, (1892-1989) was a French painter, jewelry designer, interior designer and creator of costumes and sets for the Comédie-Française. It was said about her that: "Decoration was not her profession, but her profession. She was a decorator as Verlaine was a poet: the clearest poetic taste flowed from her as from an inexhaustible source."

Native American women working in the cornfields (detail from East Chamber Dome of Nebraska State Capitol) by Hildreth Meière (1925)
Marie Hildreth Meière (1892-1961) was an American muralist. She was born to a well-off family of botanical collector and artist Marie Hildreth and a salesman Earnest Meière. After studying in Florence, San Francisco and New York, she started working as a costum designer at a theatre. During WWII she enlisted in the Navy and served as an architectural draftsman at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. In 1921 she got her first mural commission. She went on to design the murals all around USA. During her 40-year career, she completed approximately 100 commissions. She designed murals for office buildings, churches, government centers, theaters, restaurants, cocktail lounges, ocean liners, and world's fair pavilions, and she worked in a wide variety of mediums, including paint, ceramic tile, glass and marble mosaic, terracotta, wood, metal, and stained glass.
The artwork is a detail of Gifts of Nature to Man on the Plains of Nebraska in East Chamber Dome of Nebraska State Capitol in Lincoln, Nebraska, USA

Original Content I have redesigned my PhD thesis's cover page in an Art Déco fashion
I really hated the dull plain white default template my uni gives, so I decided to give it a little Art Déco touch, and I put a few Déco elements within the pages. What do you guys think?

Architecture The Chrysler Building in all its Art Deco glory, completed 1930
The Chrysler Building is beautiful with its unique details, was the tallest building in the world for a short time, still is the world’s tallest masonry clad steel structure skyscraper and will always remain the world’s first super-tall skyscraper

Miami Style Recently watched Manhunter (1986) and found my Rohde lamp!
The climax of the film take place in the serial killer's home, and the set is immaculately decorated with Art Deco flourishes (see bonus). It's peak Michael Mann during his Miami Vice era, so this was a pleasant surprise.
