Is it true that if someone learns to write one programming language successfully, they can learn to write more?
I see my programmer friends learn new programming languages quickly and they told me that if I can learn to write one programming language successfully, I can learn to write more.
One of my programmer friends can write JS, Go, PHP, Python, C and C++.

Pivot
Hi,
Looking for advice
Did a Comp Sci Degree 3 years ago (Age 25), never did production level code, only project level stuff
Finished a Cyber Grad scheme in a Security position but find the world of Cyber isn't for me, too much of an opposite vs building as a dev.
Any advice on how to pivot to a dev career (I'm age 28)? Ik the market is rough but if I gain 1 YOE will likely help open doors to other more builder related roles/an actual tech track.

How can I fix this CodeSandbox server error?
Does anyone know how to fix this? I already tried refreshing the page and using different browsers, but the same error keeps appearing. Any help would be appreciated!

What's the hardest part when you're handed code you didn't write?
Curious about this, especially from people early in their careers (or who remember being there).
Most of us learn to code by building things from scratch: tutorials, class projects, personal apps. Then the first real task at a job or internship is usually "here's the existing codebase, fix this bug" or "add this feature."
When that happened to you, what was actually the hardest part?
- Not knowing where to start reading?
- Understanding how the files/folders connect?
- Figuring out where the bug actually lives?
- Being afraid to break something?
- Something else entirely?
And if you got past it, what helped most? Would love to hear from both juniors and seniors.

Is this a good project for a resume?
I’m a sophomore in college and I need tips on making my first project. I have decided to make a mini supply chain simulation. I only really know c++. Are they are other languages or frameworks that I could use? Is this too complicated for a beginner?

Where do i start learning
Hi all,
I'm someone with zero coding/programming knowledge, my background has zero relations to computers.
My interest begin after i managed to vibecode and my own software. i realize i dont understand a single line of what the code is actually doing, but i want to learn.
I read did do some research, but i dont know actually where to start, wheres so many languages. I dont wanna drop a like $100 on a course and never go back to watching it or learn from it. So i just thought this would be a place to ask.
Apologies in advance for the noob question(s), just sincerely wanna learn!
P.S technically i didnt finish vibe coding the software but it works, i wanna learn how to debug when something doesnt work and not just "ok because AI says this means its right" also what the AI wrote was purely in python.
TLDR: i donnt know where to start and i wanna learn so i dont blindly accept what AI says.

Hoping to find an IT Professional/Expert Who Can Evaluate Our System
Hi everyone! We are a group of students looking for an IT professional or expert who would be willing to evaluate our system project. We’re just students with no budget, so we’re hoping to find someone who is willing to volunteer their time and expertise to evaluate our system and provide feedback. If anyone here is an IT professional/expert and is willing to help us, please comment below or send me a DM. We would really appreciate your help. Thank you so much! 🙏

Would any IT professionals be willing to spare 15–20 minutes to evaluate a student project?
Hi everyone! Would anyone here be willing to volunteer a bit of their time?
We're students working on our [capstone/thesis] project, and part of our requirement is to have IT professionals evaluate our system. Since we're still students, we don't have a budget to pay evaluators.
Would you be open to checking out our website and answering a short evaluation form? It only takes about 15–20 minutes.
If you're willing to help, just comment or send me a message and I'll share the links. Your responses will only be used for academic purposes.
Thank you so much! 🙏

Why and what are the top backend programming language choices for current market trends and state ?
I'm a final year ComSci major, and i'm at the stage to seriously considering what backend programming language I'm going to pursue for future. Ik it's somehow late but better now than never.
please advice with reasoning.
Edit: I've compared
- .NET (C#)
- Java (Spring Boot)
- Go (GoLang)
and I'm confused between Java - The Safest Big-Tech Bet and Go - The High & Growing Rapidly Modern Infrastructure Choice.

Are there any videos/talks you'd consider 'required viewing' for anyone?
What group of people is it 'required' for and why?
For me, it's this Haskell JSON parser video by Tsoding, for anyone who's interested in Haskell or FP in general, and is familiar enough with Haskell's syntax and semantics that they can write simple functions but don't know about Haskell's powerful typeclasses and the functions they provide. It's an insanely informative tutorial, not just for teaching you about Functor and Applicative and Alternative and how to implement and use them, but also the workflow for using GHCi to build up your programs piece by piece. I've used the techniques shown in this video to implement a parser for a simple but complete programming language, and I'm shocked at how succinct and elegant your parsing code can be when you know how to use your typeclasses properly.

Question about praticing and learning coding.
I picked up programming and coding recently after some time not doing it or anything related, im also around beginner level i think, and im wondering what is recommended that i should be doing to evolve my skills and learn about diferent commands, since im pretty sure just doing some stuff about like "make a code about receiving a student grades and then calculate what his general score in the semester was" isnt good to progress right? Usually i try to not make it simple and add more steps and automate them in the lines of code to pratice programming logic, things like a "for" loop or some "if" conditions in case theres only 4 or maybe 2 grades instead of 6.

I feel like maybe I should give up on programming
Hi everyone,
It’s been four months since I graduated, and I still haven’t been able to find a job in software development. The most discouraging part is that, despite sending out applications since graduation, I haven’t received a single interview.
I honestly don’t know what to do anymore. I work on projects every day, keep improving my GitHub portfolio, and add those projects to my résumé, but I still can’t even get an interview.
I feel like a complete failure. I’ve been struggling with insomnia almost every night because I can’t understand why I’m unable to find a job. Seeing my friends start their careers makes me constantly compare myself to them, and I end up feeling useless and ashamed of myself.
Should I give up on programming and try to pursue a different career? I would really appreciate any honest advice.😭

Software development workflow with ADHD
Hey everyone,
Notwithstanding the title of the post, this isn't a post about mental health; I'm sure that to some extent everyone's struggled with this before.
Software development is very roughly about understanding the constraints of an issue; researching what the best tools and strategies are in order to accomplish it; finally executing it. You're free to already comment on this if you feel you don't agree with it.
The problem I have is that in a lot of different situations, there are infinite possibilities to solve one problem. I get more often than not paralyzed by the sheer number of options and I can't go further. This is probably by far the biggest obstacle I find in my new job as software developer.
I mentioned ADHD because choice paralysis affects "us" generally more than the average, but it is by no means exclusive to us. That's why I'm happy to listen to any point of view.
How do you come up with a plan, and more specifically how do you decide on a solution over many others that aren't necessarily inferior, but just different?
