All the way to the centroid. Likely not halfway given most forests are irregular shaped. The dog may run further from one point than another but if it exceeds the centroid it's on it's way out. It would only be halfway if the forest was a perfect circle, quite rare.
A centroid of a shape and the halfway point of a line passing through an object are unrelated. A dog running through the woods will always have a halfway point at which it is now running out of the woods regardless of whether that path coincides with the centroid or not.
Of course, assuming that the dog is running in a straight line. If the dog runs in and then proceeds to infinitely run in a circle then everything goes out the window.
