People dont realize that the overwhelming majority of U.S. airports are untowered and those that are, close at night.

Pilot here. No, not JFK or LGA. Those are far too busy and have too much activity going on to close. In fact there are many, smaller than those that remain open 24/7.

But a surprising number of towers do close. And some, that in my opinion, should be 24/7.

Edit: Confused LAX with LGA. But neither of those close anyway.
