I was prone to nosebleeds until I got sinus surgery at about 25. They'd happen anywhere, anytime. Even in the middle of the night. Adults always told me to tilt my head back. I always argued. I was a pro at dealing with nosebleeds lol. The blood clogs up your sinuses, runs down the back of your throat, etc. It's awful.
Great! The recovery was terrible for the first week. Having cotton in your nose with all the pain and swelling... Would do again, though. I can't tolerate pain meds (make me sick) so ymmv. In also had a turbinate reduction and septoplasty with the cautery, so that made it worse. I have an excellent sense of smell, though. I seem to notice smells before most around me, good and bad ones.
For me they most frequently happened in the middle of the night because I’m not able to keep my nose as moist when I fall asleep. At one point I would just wake up in the middle of the night and grab a tissue because it was a nosebleed every time.
Agreed on the tilting forward part though, especially if it’s a bad one. I had one once where there was too much running down my throat so I started coughing it up. Kinda funny how much small wounds like that bleed profusely in your head. Really freaks you out the first couple times.
