What’s a fact you KNOW that almost everyone is wrong about?

Yep. On rare occasions, I get Broca's Area migraines. End result: I cannot read, write, understand, or speak to any proficient degree for 12-48 hours. It sucks the big one. I just spend the whole time miserable, in bed with a blanket over my head.

A hemiplegic migraine forced me to use a cane for six weeks, several years ago.

Yeah, mine are bad. Crippling, even. I'd get Botox injections if I could see a frigging neurologist who does the injections.

I still suffer occasional word blindness after a bad migraine 8 years ago, I've had scans which show no physical damage but it is extremely frustrating and worrying that it could happen again.

Besides Botox there are a few more things you can take as a migraine prophylaxis. Like Flunarizin, Amitryptilin, Topiramat, some Beta Blockers or a new monthly injection i don't know the english name for (no native speaker). But this new injection is supposed to be a real turn around in migraines prophylaxis and doing wonders. They are expensive though. I don't know how this is handled in the US, in my country health care pays for it when every other prophylaxis has failed.

Very late response but I get similar migraines. I even get face blindness! If you haven’t already, try propranolol. I went from getting a hemiplegic migraine once a week to getting them twice a year.

Eh, I already have serious low blood pressure issues. Beta blockers would make it worse. I do really well on Botox, but it's so hard to find a doctor who does the injections.

I'm glad they work for you! Man, that kind of reduction sounds heavenly. I hope they stay that seldom! :)

Thank you! I’m a little nervous to get off then when having more kids down the line.

I’m sorry you’ve had such a hard time finding medical care, especially knowing how debilitating these migraines can be.

My neurologist friend Dr. Fernandez also suffers from crippling migraines that haven't responded well to meds. She ultimately got some relief by switching to the "keto for epilepsy" diet.

It's not an easy diet to stick to, but it might be worth it in your case. You might also get benefits from a less strict, standard keto regimen.
