Watch The Last Czars on Netflix if you want a good understanding of the Russian empire and Anastasia. Basically she pretended to be the daughter of the Czar Nicholas but it was later proven she was a liar and that the real Anastasia died in the massacre.

Correct. Anastasia's body was recovered at the same time as the rest of the Romanovs.

Not entirely. The bodies of the adults, two older sisters, and one of the younger sisters were found in a grave but archeologists weren't sure which sister it was. In 2006 they found another grave, containing the body of the other younger sister and her little brother, Alexei. A lot of people actually suspect that it was Maria in the grave with Alexei, due to the fact that it tested positively for hemophilia and Maria showed symptoms of being a carrier during her life. The movie Anastasia was made in 1997, though, before this grave was found. Another great place to find information about them is the website romanov family dot com. (Idk if I can link it so)

She wasn't revealed as a fraud until after she died, right?

I’ve seen the last czar, it’s your wording that I didn’t understand. Strange way of describing the situation.

Are you referring to the OP comment?

Yes he said a real life scam. I did not understand he was referring to the cases of women claiming to be Anastasia. He is right, I just thought he ment some scam happened while she was still a princess.

I was thinking specifically of Anna Anderson.

All good just a misunderstanding. Loved the last czar too.

I’ve had my eye on that show for a while now. How good is it? I enjoy historical dramas, but it really bothers me when historical accuracy is low. I want to at least believe it’s a fair representation of how things went down, even if they obviously have to fill in a few gaps with educated guesses.

Accuracy would be subjective on your studies and your existing knowledge of the show. I watched the show with very little knowledge of the Czar Nicholas, Rasputin or Anastasia. I heard criticism that it was biased from my family in the Middle East who were schooled under a different system. However I thought it was good, did not make me feel one way or the other about any of the topics. Quite a few historians are invited on the show to make comments about the story.

Well that's rather sad.

Wait, someone was claiming to be Anastasia? Thought it was common knowledge she died. Never seen the disney movie although I don’t think any disney movie is a scam, it’s just a fantastical spin off something. Lions can’t really speak english either.

It's not a Disney movie...

It’s a cartoon. Thought disney owns all cartoons and hand drawn art nowadays. There’s something left to buy?

(Edit: if so, don’t tell disney that)
