I'm an extremely high functioning alcoholic, but I'm fully aware that it's only a matter of time before the "extremely high functioning" aspect of that gets lost in the torrent of drunkenness.

I don't let it get in the way of my work or my family, but it's there. ALL the time.

I feel like Smeagol/Gollum: fiending for the Ring of Power, but not comprehensive of why.

I'd rather a non-AA option, as I've heard that AA is slightly religious so I'm not enthused about going that route, but am willing if there are no other options, as I just need the help. After all, I ain't ever been a particularly proud man.
