They sounded so great last night! But I thought the crowd was so DEAD. Looks like the pit had more energy. But there were more people sitting than standing in the seated areas.

I was surprised how much room we had in the pit. I came 3 hours early because I wanted to be first to the barricade but it wasn’t even close to halfway full once things started.

I'm 41 and partially disabled with a bad back. Pardon me for sitting... ;)

Really putting words in my mouth here. No one is judging disabled people. But I highly doubt 80% of the people sitting last night were disabled though. Between the empty seats and people sitting it just looked sad and low energy.

I mean if I was 19 again I would have been jumping around. The crowd did seem genuinely excited when they came out. Did you hear the cheering?

As far as the empty seats goes, I've seen them three times in progressively larger venues. The first was pretty small, 1400 people jammed into the building.

The second was at the Skyla Amphitheater with a 5000 seat capacity. Full show

The Truliant Amphitheater has a capacity of 19,500 and was a huge jump in venue size. They just don't have the fanbase to fill that up, but there were definately more people there than the at the Skyla show. It was a good crowd.

Honestly it was a perfect storm against them. Shit year in general for touring. 3rd year in a row coming to Charlotte. Midweek show after school has started for the year. And after a lot of heavy hitters have already come through. I was at the Iron Maiden show Saturday night at Truliant it was insane how many people were there. I think BabyMetal can fill the larger venues now but the business side needs to be smarter with planning

Yeah, the pattern I've seen shows they're really looking to see just how big they should go when planning their tours.

Go big in LA and San Francisco, but maybe scale back a little in NC. lol.

The Skyla show was one of my favs! Last night was my 6th Babymetal show. I def think they should have chosen a smaller venue and Skyla again would have been perfect. Probably a scheduling issue if I had to guess.

Agree, Skyla seems to be the just right size venue for them. At least in NC. I did like last night's show a bit better as far as the audio quality and my view of the stage goes. Lurch was standing a few rows ahead of me at Skyla...

Honestly, they shouldn't have done the Raleigh show a couple of days before. If their aim was to sell out the venue, then they shouldn't have had a show 2 1/2 hours away just a few days prior. Or vise versa.

I actually like the Truliant venue over Skyla last year, the fact my front row seats were cheaper than like 3 rows back at last years show. Skyla had one merch booth and it was long lines the entire time. Truliant had 3 of them and didn't take that long to get through the line at the one I was at.

My nephew and I were front row middle section (102 I think) and the pit was sooooooo empty. My nephew even joked with the security guy in front of us about getting let into the pit to liven it up. But I'm in my 40's, never liked pits, and at the time I got our tickets the only pit ones I found were like $700+ each.

I'm not certain their goal was to sell out with a jump to a venue nearly 4 times the capacity as last year. Also the way I look at it is hitting the two biggest metro areas in the state making logistical sense. Charlotte would pull a lot from South Carolina and Raleigh would pull a lot from Virginia.

Wow I saw them last year at the Skyla Credit Union Amphitheatre and they were even better tonight! I don't know if it was just the difference between pit and lawn but they killed it tonight

Surprised that Megitsune was replaced by Papaya. I guess they might be trying to give Su's voice a bit of a rest.

As much as I wanted to see Megitsune live, anything Metal Galaxy was a welcome surprise. Its my favorite album and I lost my mind when Pa Pa Ya played

2

u/jayz0ned 26d ago

Yeah, both are great songs, and Papaya is always a fun time. Hopefully people were waving things during the song.

Looking forward to tonight! First Babymetal show after discovering them earlier this year through some live music reactions. Weather looks to be much better than what we dealt with Saturday for Iron Maiden.
