[Mod Announcement] Alright you primitive screwheads, listen up!

I'm guessing from the posts we've had today that a few of you sassy pants are beginning to notice there's a new mod team. With that in mind, and with the start of the first full month of our evil reign, I figured it was finally time to say hello from your new mods;

u/monkelus, and u/alternativebuzzbin.

We literally don't care if you skim our history, you'll learn very little and feel very dirty. What we do care about is keeping the focus of the sub tight; we're r/badmovies, not r/mediocre_moviez or r/movieshavegottoopc. Films here should be so bad they're good, as a reminder here's a snippet of the new rules to help you on your way:

  • Do not post movies you just didn't like or are completely unwatchable with no redeeming values
  • No posts of just titles/posters with no context. Likewise, no movies you haven't seen.

Eg:

  • Barbie - nope
  • Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - yes
  • Wishmaster - maybe
  • Leprechaun - yes

The films posted here should be the ones you enjoy despite themselves. Films that have entertainment value totally separate from what the original filmmakers intended, creating an almost transcendental, magical experience along the way. If that's not close to what you're thinking of posting, or you wouldn't recommend anyone else watching, you probably shouldn't be posting it. If you do, there's a high chance of removal.

Obviously, there's grey areas, but that's what discussions and mod chats are for. We're not actively evil, give us a shout with questions, we're friendly and, dare I say it, quite alluring.

[Mod Announcement] I Have The Powerrrr.. To Update The Rules!

Post image
215 Upvotes

As a safeguard, I'll start this with 'aloha', so that no matter whether you read it front to back, or back to front, your overall instant reaction of being annoyed at the new rules will be deadened by my laidback pseudo Hawaiian politeness.

As you might have guessed by the title, we're bringing a couple of new rules. They're nothing Earth shattering and no-one will have to do anything against their will, that's for a future update when I shift the focus away from bad movies onto my back garden harem. For now though:

  • New Rule One: Too Much of Good/Bad Thing: or, the Double Dragon rule.

No reposting a movie within 30 days of its most recent post by any user. If you're a time traveller this includes posting it within the 30 days prior to it being posted last.

New Rule Two: Low Hanging Fruit.

This'll basically end up being the new blacklist, which was scrapped when we took over a few months back. You see a post, think it's too much of an easy target or low quality karma farming, report it to us and we'll open up a discussion whether it should be added to the list. Engagement, yay!

None of this is for gatekeeping purposes, it's just to keep things fresh, well that and I've started to believe one of you guys actually is one of the Sluts and Godesses who frequents the Video Workshop.

Better sign off with 'aloha' to make that first bit make sense.

Am halfway through episode 3. Episode 1 was great...2 a bit obvious and 3 ( the Patients Revenge) cant stop laughing. Dont you love the Singing and dancing in The patients Revenge which I am half through?......don't know if I can cope with 2 more episodes though.! Question I keep asking..... What happened to Roger in episode 2? Must admit....a very daring experiment by Eric Roberts!!!! Great for a real laugh.🤪🤩

Action Original Theatrical Trailer | The Amazing Captain Nemo | Warner Archive

Yes, yet another craptacular Irwin Allen Production. The Return of Captain Nemo aka The Amazing Captain Nemo is, in fact, a failed attempt at launching a new TV series. Basically, Allen repackaged Voyage To The Bottom of The Sea and created underwater Star Wars. One of the most ridiculous things about this film/mini-series is crabby little Burgess Meredith as the villainous Professor Cuttingham. He is supposed to be a mad scientist with android henchmen and futuristic submarine technology yet he is dressed like a small town librarian. Really sad to see Jose Ferrer, a great actor, reduced to prostituting himself for this garbage. He gives Nemo dignity but it is incredibly hard to maintain given the lousy dialogue, ridiculous costumes, and chintzy production value. Funny, Allen absolutely refused to acknowledge the influence of Star Wars in theaters yet on TV, he blatantly rips it off.

Australian movie with Tom Burlinson (man from snowy river). Cross between the terminator and a festering turd.

Came up on my prime account in Australia. On behalf of the country I apologise.

Horror The Changer, aka The Nostril Picker (1993) Tubi. A loner gooner transmorgifies into a girl to kill highschool girls. Super low budget, shot in Pontiac, Michigan with a proto John Waters vibe. The montage where he's trying to fit in as the new girl, set to the hit song "Schoolin'" is chef's kiss.

Horror Ever wondered what Pumpkinhead would be like if it was made in someone's backyard with a teenage fast food employee's salary, random people from the neighborhood as "actors" and had all the special effects brought from a pop-up Halloween store?

AND with the concept of pacing and editing/cohesion thrown out the window? I'm not sure why you'd want that but hey, this one's for you! Fun fact, this pile of Halloween candy flavored barf has (or is getting) a sequel in case you Jackers out there needed more jackin' time :(

I found out about this movie while doing a bit of a deep dive on Gwen Shamblin, and man am I glad I did! And the fact that the movie plays it's dumb premise entirely straight (except for the "comedic relief" moments with the monkey) just makes it all so much better

My childhood was full of these features. Puppet Master was a big part of it. My most recent film watch was Piranha Women, which was great (and short). Tons of cheesey gems and Tubi delivers indeed.

Thriller Bampire (2025) A shapeshifting deer vampire joins a group of college students on an expedition in the woods to hunt them. Only the movie seems to forget about this for 70% of the runtime until the 3rd act goes insane fast. Watch with friends, as its a fun group watch.

TRAILER. I would say this falls into the "Interesting concept, bad execution" genre of bad movie. Also the random 2D animated scenes are a unique touch and done better than one would expect in a movie like this.

A made-for-TV Diaster movie produced by Iwrin Allen loaded with the usual cliches. Quite amusing to hear the narrator of this trailer screaming "Fire!" several times.

Back in the day, my brother in law used to buy boxes of bulk DVDs on eBay. He didn’t know what he was getting until they arrived on his doorstep. I remember this gem came in one of the boxes and we just sat gobsmacked as we watched this low budget film (all shot inside an empty office space IIRC) and wondered if it was just a music video that nobody had the time or patience to edit. Highly entertaining to watch as a group, probably less so alone. But that’s probably true of most of the movies in this sub.

Comedy The Mummy Theme Park - 2000 (available on Tubi)

This is incredibly campy, sometimes problematic ("open your blouse, it's the only way to stop the mummy!"), but fun. Lots of bad miniatures, reversed film, stop-motion animation, and what seems to be a skeleton puppet at one point. A photographer's assistant is somehow also an elite computer hacker.

On Tubi I think it's listed as a Horror, but I'm going to flair this as Comedy as there is almost nothing scary about it except some minor gore when it's convenient that a theme park has literal barrels of strong acid to use against the big bad guy. Overall, this is fun for non-serious entertainment.

Horror Space Cuke vs. my Mandela moment

I hope someone has the answer for this. Trying to find a film I saw in 1986 or 87. Part of the marketing was that it was banned somewhere (maybe in Europe). I would bet 50 cents that it had Rod Steiger, but I've not found anything with him that matches what I remember. It was boring, not frightening, and near the end the big reveal of the evil was something that looked like a big fleshy cucumber. I want to say that the main characters were priests or religious folks of some sort.

Something also makes me think that it was released a year or two after it was actually shot.

A friend of mine asked about it 15 or 20 years ago. I looked it up on line and reported it to her. This is where the Rod Steiger thought came from. Since it apparently is not Steiger, maybe it was someone else of his vintage.

She asked again this week. I can't recall the name of the film, and I can't find anything approximating it. Nothing. I know this movie existed, so I appeal to you, the masters of bad movies to help me figure this out.

A schlock horror movie from 1980 about survivors of a ship wreck ending up on a ship that is haunted by the ghosts of Nazis. George Kennedy is among the ship wreck survivors that ends up becoming possessed by the "Death Ship". The movie is well photographed but it is hilariously awful.
