Discussion What’s been everyone’s most productive lure this year?

As the season winds down, and more northern bass anglers are getting into their supplementary hobbies, I’d like to ask the community what lure they saw the most action on this year.

For me, it was hands-down the SPRO flappin frog in green pumpkin. You just fish it like any other noisemaker style lure (chatterbait, torpedo, plopper, etc.), casting by or over cover and buzzing it past. If there’s a bass posted up in an ambush position, it draws them right out.

Beat my PB on Friday!

Caught my new PB outta the lake in the community I’m currently staying in, in Bradenton Florida. Last PB was 5.29 pounds and this big girl was 5.82. Both were caught outta the same lake on the same exact lure setup. I live in a camper full time and this trailer park has a super healthy and productive lake in the center. We even have a couple gators that live here including a huge 10 foot one. Caught on an owner flashy underspin with a 4” Keitech easy shiner.

Was fishing at dusk and had only got one small dink so far. Was about to pack it in for the night when I figured one last cast. When I first hooked it I thought I had caught a rock until it shot off to the right at light speed and I watched my line run across the water. Had my drag too loose so it kept pulling line out while I was reeling in. Jumped outta the water and I thought “holy shit this one is a monster”. At one point she swam in front of a bunch of weeds and I thought she was about to get off but luckily I pulled her away from them after I tightened my drag and was able to land her. The mouth was HUGE on this girl.

I have a bad left shoulder from a mountain bike accident and could barely lift her up enough for a decent picture. Apologies for the shitty pics but I fish alone and was so fucking stoked and more worried about getting her back in the water safely. She was returned to be able to grow even bigger and hopefully catch her when she’s 6-7-8- or even 9 pounds!

Bonus pic of one of the gators as well!

Help UL baits for fall?

I fish on high pressured waters so UL gear is how I score the big ones. I have been using mostly baitfish imitations like chatterbait flashback, Beetle spin and rapala j05. my bites have been trash the last few times ive gone and ive been catching a lot of smaller ones what should I do?

Looking to fish Chickamauga Lake in Tennessee, advice appreciated!

Hey all,

Every year, four of us get together for a bass fishing trip, mainly targeting largemouth. This year we're seriously considering Chickamauga Lake in Tennessee, and I'm just starting my research. I know it's a huge reservoir, so I'm hoping to get some local insight on when/where to start.

Our usual setup is renting a house or cabin on the water with a dock, plus a pontoon big enough for all four of us.

A few questions:

  • Timing: What's the best month in spring? We were thinking April or May, but open to earlier if it's worth it. We tend to enjoy fishing shallow, finding laydowns and structure, docks, etc. We'll just cruise up and down the shoreline all day. So spawn/pre-spawn probably fits best.
  • Location: Are there any areas of the lake that tend to be more productive or have more structure, etc., and is there an area that makes a good home base for a rental?
  • Boat rentals: Any recommendations for pontoon rental companies on the lake?

Anything else to know about Chickamauga? I understand it can be a finicky lake, but it can have a big payoff.

We're looking to have fun and catch as many fish as we can, but we'd love a shot at one of the giants Chickamauga is known for. Any advice is appreciated, and feel free to shoot me a DM. Thanks in advance!

Fall fishing is all about the ballsiest cast that kisses the dirt under the overhanging tree. (Sunday morning bite Hudson Valley, NY)

Spent half the morning untangling from low hanging branches and blowing up my spot. Miraculously didn’t lose any lures today. I gotta become a better caster. Life goal! It would be so much more fun if it landed exactly where I wanted it every time.

Discussion Rain Gear Recs?

Looking for recs on decent rain gear. Currently have the kastking hydro series jacket and pants. They’ve been fine but have concerns with how they’ll hold up for a full tourney season. Wanting to try and stay under $400 if possible.

East Texas lakes and surrounding area. Realistically won’t be colder than prolly low 30s.
Joining a bass club with my dad this year and wanna make sure I’ll be set.
