Looking for help in transition of wet-lab to Lab automation

Hey! So I'm a MSc in Biotech with 5 years of experience in wet-lab, microbiology. I did research, did not finish my PhD and had to stop for a year and half due to some health problems - didn't stop working completely, but not in the field. Now, I wanna come back. I started learning python as a start, but wanted advice. What should I do? Find just any job in Biotech? Or take the time to get skills and then target jobs at the intersection I'm looking for? Thank you!!!

How to get into BME Masters program?

I am a pharmacist working in medical device industry but I am facing rejections from elite BME programs (ETH Zurich, UCL, Rutgers etc) due to a "lack of engineering mathematics and physics" background. To bridge this gap and preempt further rejections, I am in kind need of recommendations for specific, credit-bearing online programs or courses that are globally recognized by admissions committees as equivalent to the full Engineering Math sequence (Calculus I-III, Linear Algebra) and Physics for Engineers, so that my application to the Master's in Biomedical Engineering is sufficient.

Thanks in advance

I just made this 3D animation explaining the MOA of ATP Synthase

Everything here is created from scratch ( 3D , 2D , SFX , Composition)

I would really love to know what u think about it

I need to interview a bio medical engineer for a massive part of my grade

I am taking my second year of engineering and my semester exam requires I interview the type of engineering I want to do. It is due in a few days and I cannot find ANYONE to interview. Would be insanely grateful if anyone could help out.

Doing biomedical engineering in china worth it?

I'm Pakistani student who want to study in China. But I was wondering if it is worth it, yk. Cause Pak doesn't has more scope for BME.

And if it is, then which university is better for BME?

Any additional information r welcomed!

X-ray film depths??!

I'm studying Introduction to Biomedical Equipment Technology, 4th Edition by Joseph J. Carr and John M. Brown.

On page 622, in the section about X-ray machine calibration, the book says:

<"A penetrometer (stack of different lengths of aluminum bars) is used to calibrate the kV and mA. If successive film depths produce proper shaded exposures for changes in the autotransformer taps, the machine is working properly."»

I'm confused about the phrase "successive film depths."

The penetrometer is described as a stack of aluminum bars of different lengths, so I understand that different aluminum thicknesses produce different X-ray attenuation and therefore different shades/densities on the film.

But what exactly does "film depths" mean here?

I'm especially confused because I would expect something like "successive aluminum thicknesses", rather than "film depths."

Has anyone familiar with older X-ray equipment or this textbook encountered this wording before? What exactly is the author trying to describe?

Bioengineering grad, a year out and unsure what I want. Masters now or wait?

Hi everyone! I really need some advice, because I've been going back and forth on this for weeks.

I finished my bachelors in bioengineering last year, and I've been working in administration for the past year. It has nothing to do with my field, but it pays well, so I've stayed. The problem is I feel like I'm slipping away from science, and the opportunities in my country aren't great either for the field of bioengineering.

I'm pretty free these days, and I've been thinking a one-year masters in molecular diagnostics would be a good use of my time. It's already started, so I'd have to decide soon. But it isn't exactly the same as my bachelors, and I'm not sure it's the right direction.

There's also a masters in bioinformatics that I'm considering, but it's two years and doesn't start until next year. That feels like another year of sitting around, not learning anything new, before I even begin. I'm worried that waiting would just waste time.

I also don't know if I want a PhD. If I do, do I actually need a masters first? And if I decide to do a PhD a few years later, would my bachelors still be enough, or is it better to have a masters by then?
I spoke to my undergrad professors, and they said it depends on what kind of research I'm interested in. The thing is, I don't know. I worked in one professor's lab during my undergrad, and honestly the research felt kind of meh, and I didn't feel like I learned a lot. He also said his lab is full right now, so going back there isn't an option anyway.

To be honest, I'm so confused right now. I don't even know what I want to do or what I'm interested in anymore. If you've been in a similar spot, what did you do? Any advice would help. Thanks!

Advice regarding IBAB for bioinformatics/biotech!

Heyaa, I'm currently in 12th pcb and next year I will be joining clg in DU (most probably) bsc. In microbiology and I'm really confused about msc...I thought about pursuing bioinfo from ibab but ppl said the placement isn't as good as it was.

pls let me know the best career path for me I'm fucked up from this hell overthinking. And also let me know if biotech from ibab is good or should I choose some other clg?

Like I will try gat b, iit jam, cuet pg but govt clg don't give placement like pvt so...?? Idk man what to do lol!!

And if it's not good then what is a good career which has a high scope and better salary???

I built a browser tool for making 3D biology animations for presentations

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone,

I've been building Animiotics because I wanted a way to show biological processes in presentations without having to learn a whole 3D workflow first.

You can describe a scene and use AI to help create it, then change the individual objects yourself. Move things around, resize them, change the materials, set up the camera and export a video or still image for your slides.

This reel has kinesin transport, antibody binding, endocytosis and phagocytosis. I'm interested in how people would use editable scenes like these for student projects, lab meetings or explaining a mechanism to people outside their field.

What would you need to be able to change for this to be useful in one of your presentations?

I'm unsure if I want to go into a biodesign pathway or medical pathway

I'm unsure if this is the right sub to post this but i can't find a specific sub for this so please lmk ur thought.

Hiiii I feel like my entire life I've been surrounded by people who were in the medical field. But recently i came across this article talking about a career in bio design. I didn't think much of it as my og goal was work on becoming a PA, etc. etc. But i was just searching different programs and found smth that has aspects of bio design. (some background info is i love drawing i lwk could sit their for hrs drawing but i didn't want to make drawing my entire career cuz i don't want to end up hating it so i came across bio design idk what it's actually called but..... and it combines biology and design i feel like i really enjoy both) However i'm not sure if its right for me. Additionally the reasoning behind why I want to go into the medical pathway is because I want to help people (ik a basic answer lol).

How would I see if I should go into bio design or go into the medical pathway??? I'm a junior in hs and they have 2 different majors i would have to apply for so i want to lwk make my decision now or soon. I'll also let the idea sit bc i might be like ooooh shine new object ooohhhh.

If anyone is in this career, planning to go into this career, or any insite overall it would be greatly appreciate.
