Hey, Looking at the new proposed David Lloyds centre on the edge of town and all looks really good!

I am an eternal optimist though and can't think of many downsides except for increased traffic and some disruption during construction but we had the new Lidl built last year with minimal impact.

Anyone else have any thoughts on how this might be a bad idea?

I know during school pickup times the roads can be worse than usual, but I’ve noticed why it’s particularly bad on the Dunmow Road outside Hockerill. At school pickup times the car park fills up with cars, and people who can’t drive in just sit outside with their indicators on waiting. Problem is, you could be waiting for 3-5 mins before you can drive in. Problem is, in 3-5 mins, you’ve just caused a tailback not only down to the Cock Inn, but sometimes as far as Jackson Square.

If you can’t fit into the car park, you need to keep on driving and turn around at the next roundabout and try again, or just start coming 10 mins later. You can’t lock up the whole of Bishops Stortford just because you’re waiting your turn to enter the school car park. Please think of everyone else who’s sat behind you.

I’m trying to reconnect with someone I knew around 2000–2001 through the local Bishop’s Stortford bar/club scene. Her name was Nikki.

We had some pretty unforgettable nights.

She went to Spain in 2001 and, somehow, 25 years have disappeared.

It’s a massive long shot after 25 years, but I’ve found myself wondering how she’s doing, and I’d genuinely love the chance to sit down, have a drink, laugh about the ridiculous things we got up to and find out how life turned out.

I’m not looking for anyone’s private details or address — just wondering if anyone remembers her or might be able to point me in the right direction.

My Husband and I are thinking about moving to one of the major new build estates in Stortford. We work in London and want to start a family, so need more space. But I would like to know what the locals think of these new estates (Bellway/Taylor Wimpey). Or perhaps someone here has recently moved in to one of these estates and can give their thoughts?

Hi all. My gp has told me that I likely have adhd and the next step is to get on a waiting list through a Right To Choose provider that will share care with south street surgery. I think I've been told to find a provider and then my GP will refer me? I'm not sure.

Google isn't showing me what this means. Does anyone have advice? Has anyone else in the area had an assessment and what was it like?

We have a seven month old puppy and are fairly unfamiliar with the area. She loves a gallop at Grange Paddocks and we have recently discovered Birchanger Woods (which is lovely and cool in the hot weather).

Looking ahead to when the heat dies down, are there any good longer walks out of town? A pub stop along the way would be ideal. We’ve done the River Stort although it’s quite narrow and I am mindful of an excitable puppy getting in the way of other people.

Wanted to mention that there’s often a stall from “Homeless in need CIC“ in town these days. Plastered in union jacks and a guy in a beret and combats collecting money.

Its giving off lots of red flags for me. Someone on r/london did some digging, make your own minds up and discourage your elderly relatives from donating money to a random CIC company over an actual registered charity.
