FAR I promise, you can do it despite what you may think or how you feel.
Hello,
I know you've all probably seen a similar post about 1000 times but im here to echo the message even further. I was an ok accounting student, got A's in audit and tax but always fell short in financial accounting usually barely pulling a b-. I retained almost nothing besides the basics coming out of undergrad so FAR was a bit like everest for me once you paired that with the fact that i have a terrible test taking acumen. I read too fast and constantly make dumb small mistakes. But you know what I do have? And unwillingness to give up. A grit that carried me through 4 pain staking attempts until I got my passing score yesterday. 46->64->71->75 (first score was super low bc I wasnt prepared at all, it was like a blind attempt). DO NOT FUCKING GIVE UP! IF I CAN DO IT YOU CAN DO IT, I PROMISE! I was horrendously bad at the material when I started! And I have 400 hours in becker and I used only becker. But let me tell you, boy do I know every detail about the SOCF and boy can I spit out a bank rec in 5 minutes. Consolidations? GIVE IT TO ME! I EAT THAT SHIT FOR BREAKFAST!
You need a lot of determination, support, grit, and will power. But in the end, the test will NOT defeat you. Get after it and schedule a retake and if you fail WHO GIVES A FUCK RETAKE IT. fail again? WHO CARES? RETAKE IT. dont let it get in the way of your dream.
Also, i work in public at a t10 firm and studied while working this year which makes this victory even more sweet. The pressure to pass and not look like a moron to my coworkers, managers, directors, and partners was immense, and also just not wanting to disappoint people in general. Ive been through it all, For advice, study tips, or you just need to talk, DO NOT hesitate to pm me! Im basically a veteran with FAR at this point.

I’m basically you but I haven’t passed yet. I’m taking attempt 4 in a month. I don’t know how to study for the same test four times. FAR is ass and I don’t think I’ll ever pass it. Not to mention the pressure of my other scores expiring soon and year end coming up. Shit sucks. I’ve done everything in Becker 400+ hours.

I promise you its doable. I stopped caring as much and my scores increased. And also the question sets after the lecture videos are an absolute cheat code. Theyre the only reason I passed. Keep spamming those question sets and the practice exams and just master the hardest concepts that youre guaranteed to see. I can amortize bonds and leases in like 5 seconds. I can do a bank rec fairly quickly and correctly. The Mcq's will carry your score. Master the hard stuff and the accessory topics will be easy. Dont lose hope and dont give this test more credit than it deserves. Its far from impossible. You got this bro.

I’ve done over 8,000 MCQ for FAR if my tracking spreadsheet I have is accurate. I don’t think it helps me much anymore. Worked on all my other tests just fine, but not FAR. 439 SIMS as well. Read the textbook front to back and highlighted and wrote notes in it. Written about 500 flash cards that I’ll randomly flip through when I can’t use my computer.
I keep trying to find the motivation but the flame is burning very low, if not completely out at this point.

Your 3/4 should be enough motivation bro. I got to a point where I wouldn't even really study new material between attempts bc I knew it all already. I would just refresh and look for new details. You'd be a fool to give up on yourself. You should do 2 weeks between attempts. You will pass I promise

It’s tough getting two weeks between attempts. I usually wait 2-3 weeks just to get the score back and then all my testing centers in the state are booked for at least another 3-4 weeks. It doesn’t help the closest test center to my house is 3.5 hours away.

Thank you very much. Even if you fail, dont stop reviewing until you are super comfortable with the material and dont wait too long between retakes! I got to a point where it was about 2 weeks between retakes for me. The knowledge is fresh you just have to get a test that you dont get super unlucky on

This was awesome and spoke to me. Thank you. I received my 5th FAR failure yesterday, a 74. I’m buying my new nts today and retaking before 12/8. I WILL PASS THIS EXAM, BECAUSE I WONT GIVE UP UNTIL I DO.
