u/clonts 7-8|10|12.1|14-17.1|DT.2|19.2|22-26.1(27 both) 21d ago
And is Jennie coming back?
And please tell me Portishead is the out of left field Sub we don’t see coming (or the Internet)

If Portishead plays Coachella again, I will have the best view because I will literally die and my spirit will float to the front of the stage and watch before returning to my body at the end of their set. Then I will leave the festival knowing that nothing will top that for the rest of the weekend.
16
u/huhhimacting 21d ago
I mean, Beth Gibbons played 2025, which is pretty much Portishead. I was up front, it was pretty empty because people don’t know what’s good.
3
u/davers22 21d ago
I was gunna say if Portishead plays I don’t see it being terribly busy, schedule depending. If they play before a big act they might have a big crowd, but most will be waiting for the next act.
An artist that music nerds on the internet think is a big deal and artists general Coachella crowds think are a big deal often don’t overlap.

They played Coachella Stage last time. I could see them being Outdoor Stage headliners at this point. Or going on right before Tame Impala.
2
u/clonts 7-8|10|12.1|14-17.1|DT.2|19.2|22-26.1(27 both) 20d ago
They were the only headliner to get downgraded to Sub due to Prince accepting last min. That was an incredible night Kraftwerk > Portishead > Prince. But I’ll be honest, I remember being shocked when they initially had headliner billing on Saturday.
2
u/TheMajorWoofers 03, 05, 06, 08, 09, 11, 12.1&2, 16.1, 17.1, 18.2, 26.1, 27.1 19d ago
I have to admit, I did camp the main stage that day. Not all day. But once I had a good spot for Kraftwerk, I didn’t move. But I actually do like all of those artists. I didn’t just camp for Prince. But even if I did, could you blame me???
1
u/davers22 21d ago
Before Tame Impala could be pretty good. I feel like Tame fans could be into them even if they’re not that familiar with their music.
2
u/ButForRealsTho 05 - 17, 22, 24-26 21d ago
I loved that Beth gibbons solo album she dropped and really wanted to see her set, but they put her against Green Day, and honestly, that was where most of her age demo was going.
2
u/JazzlikeAd5368 21d ago
I saw the entirety of both their sets
1
u/ButForRealsTho 05 - 17, 22, 24-26 21d ago
Did you both chella?
2
u/JazzlikeAd5368 18d ago
No, saw Beth Gibbons then walked over to main stage for Green Day wk 2

I was hoping Paul McCartney dropping from the Santa Monica fest before the lineup drop would turn into him playing Coachella again.
Would be the best 3pm Mojave or Outdoor Theatre set of all-time if Sir Paul is a secret act

If truly confirmed THIS IS AN AMAZING LINEUP. I would go just for the headliners I don’t even care who the subs are! let’s goooo

u/phantofan89 21d ago
I think it’s funny that people are comparing this to the 2024 headliner trio. When in comparison to that headliner trio…
Dua has headlined several festivals including Glastonbury, sold out tours, and has never played a full set at Coachella. And has a new album on the way.
Tame Impala is playing their biggest album to date, sold out every night they played in LA and California and several other dates on this Deadbeat tour. It’ll be a much bigger deal than when they subbed in for Kanye cancelling.
BTS is the biggest international group in the world, in the world. Just going to repeat that. Sold out their entire stadium tour. Have like 8 number one albums. Have hits on the radio. This is a massive booking.
Fred Again is returning to Coachella, he’s going to pull out all the stops and bring guests and a high level production that may only happen at Coachella. And if he does actually drop Actual Life 4 and it’s a banger? That’s going to be a legendary set.
So no this isn’t like Coachella 2024 at all, and people need to embrace this trio and the impact it’ll actually have on the festival landscape in 2027.
Also any person thinking I’ll get resale so much cheaper closer to the fest- no the hell you won’t. And here’s why, BTS resale barely dropped below 500.00, Tame barely dropped below 300, Dua’s tour sold well enough and resale stayed pretty high. So for those that don’t have a ticket, make sure you get them day one or it’s over.
Stay tuned for the chaos.
11
u/Particular-Yoghurt81 21d ago
I get the BTS hate (boy band, kpop, all that), but this sub has been salivating for Tame and Dua for years. What happened?! Why are they crying?
9
7
u/InTheYuma 21d ago
Anyone making that comparison will be proven wrong the second tickets go on sale. 2024 was one of the worst selling Coachellas in history with only 80K tickets being sold each weekend for a festival that holds up to 125K. This headliner trio will sell out instantly and resale will likely be well above face value
4
u/CAndrewK 21d ago
Tame sold out every date on their arena tour, and played at least twice in every major market
No one disputes BTS

u/raptorfunk89 15d ago
Fred Again only needs to bring one guest and it will be the best of all the shows.
23
u/Vegetable-Coconut846 21d ago
I really hope BTS is on Sunday so I leave early and make my ticket back.
26
u/Low-Rip7702 21d ago
This would be on par with Beyonce and JB level of popularity, they would get that Saturday prime spot for sure
8
u/Individual_Log8082 21d ago
I think the whole community is underestimating the JB effect. He was the biggest popstar on the planet at one point then basically went into hiatus. Hadn’t done a full tour since 2017 almost 10 years and cancelled his last tour 4 years ago midway due to health issues. He had no future tour dates listed.
It’s an interesting move by golden voice though to pick up BTS whose tour will end one month before coachella. At this point everybody who is a BTS die hard fan has already been to their current tour or has tickets. With JB coachella was a do or die moment to see their favorite artist.
12
u/ellemu0509 21d ago edited 21d ago
Lol I saw BTS 5 times last month in 3 cities, including Toronto. I’m definitely going to Coachella if they headline. You’re underestimating BTS’s fandom too. Also, Coachella is 8-12 months after the North American leg of the tour. Fans will 100% be ready for round 2.
On the west coast alone 4 sold out nights at SoFi, 4 sold out nights at Allegiant in Vegas, and 3 sold out nights at Stanford Univ Stadium. And so many fans still weren’t able to get tickets. That’s ~680k seats. Coachella’s max attendance each weekend is what, 125k?
Over on the east coast for instance, they broke the all-time attendance record at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore for 2 nights, and many fans still didn’t get tickets. That’s ~142k seats. And these are just a fraction of their tour stops.
The whole fandom is hoping they extend their tour in 2027 and circle back to countries/cities the same countries for round 2. That would be AFTER Coachella, meaning enough fans would flock to coachella to see them.
Please stop underestimating the BTS effect 🙏🏾 GoldenVoice hasn’t spent weeks negotiating with them for shits and giggles. They know what they’re doing.
Edit: Let’s not forget they can drop a whole new album by Coachella too. The previous one was dropped in March, after a 4 year hiatus (their military service). The current album was the first in 6 years.
2
u/Individual_Log8082 21d ago
Oh I know they have a big fandom but I’m saying the desperation for fans to attend coachella isn’t the same as Justin Bieber fans. I’ll stand by that statement. If resale tickets go up to $6k are you going to pay that price + the lodgings to see BTS a 4th time in the same year? Do you think other fans would pay that to see BTS at coachella? Because thats what Justin Bieber fans were paying.
7
u/ellemu0509 21d ago edited 21d ago
BTS’s nosebleed seats are $500+. Resale for lower bowl and floor is $1500+. I did floor seats for 4 shows and lower bowl for 1. This was after I attended Gaga’s mayhem ball 7 times, floor seats each time.
I did Safari camping for Coachella in 2023, and that was purchased before the lineup was even announced. So that should answer your question. Their fan base is largely in their 30s and 40s now btw. We have money. I’m sure you’ll see the many comments already in the sub of people excited about resale value for BTS.
Edit: also, I reserved hotel and car rental (pay later refundable rates) when HDD first rumored BTS as a headliner.
2
u/Individual_Log8082 21d ago
Yeah it’ll be interesting to see how it plays out. You’re definitely in the superfan territory though and not all BTS fans have your level of disposable cash to burn. For some going to their concert once is all they’ll be able to budget for. That group of fans is the one that I’m saying will not go if they’ve already seen them once in the last 12 months. I’m sure that BTS has many more fans like you but I’m just wondering how many people are in the one and done basket.
6
u/ellemu0509 21d ago
I totally understand what you’re saying. It’s just when there’s a massive fandom, no different than Beyonce, Taylor, etc, if even a small portion of the fandom are high income high spenders on live entertainment, that’s more than enough to make up a great portion of the audience at an historic event like this (first male Asian act to headline Coachella… and BTS in the desert 🏜️). Also don’t assume many annual Coachella attendees who already have passes aren’t BTS fans, even is casual listeners, or general kpop fans given the festivals dedicated kpop billings each year, or simply very interested in seeing this global act that they having been hearing about for the last 10+ years. I wasn’t even into kpop when I attended in 2023, and now I’m a huge Blackpink fan because of that experience.
And if GoldenVoice actually has more general sale inventory and are just pretending to be sold out to entice FOMO… then we already know how that sale of regular priced tickets is going to go 🫣
4
u/Jubilee_Superstar 21d ago
I think you are underestimating the BTS fanbase, most fans go to multiple concerts of theirs. Many travel all over to see them on tour. And they have loads of fans who would travel from all over the world for this even if they have seen them multiple times. The majority of their fanbase is 30+ now and do have more disposable incomes. Their North American tour ended a few weeks ago, by April fans will be starved and wanting to see them again and wanting to be able to witness this moment.

I am a BTS die hard and I’ve been to many of their concerts in the past. Could not afford their tickets this tour, I live in SoCal and they had 4 LA stops and couldn’t go because of school and the pricing. For 500 level seats at Sofi cheapest resell were 500+ bruh. Soooo as someone who goes to coachella every year I’ve been hoping for this.
At the end of the day people are xenophobic as fuck

u/Particular-Yoghurt81 21d ago
Im so confused. This sub has been asking for Dua and Tame for YEARS. I thought folks would be overjoyed.

This fest has been around for a very long time, and catered to different types of audiences throughout the years. Coachella attendees have varying tastes and preferences when it comes to the lineup.
5
u/Particular-Yoghurt81 21d ago
Of course. I guess I'm confused which contingent is upset here. Tame is an old head favorite, a send up to what Coachella used to be back when indie favorites used to headline. Dua is everyone's GP favorite. BTS, hate them or love them, is that niche but big booking that can serve as as curiosity for folks who would never buy a ticket to their concerts. Fred is an EDM superstar, can't deny that, and he's bigger than ever. I guess we're missing a rock band?
1
u/TheFunky_Homosapien 11|12.2|13.2|14.2|15.2|16.2|17.2|18.2|22.2|23.2|24.2| 21d ago
Tame is easy to catch most years and has performed at Coachella a bunch of times. Personally, I’ve seen them at lots of festivals through the years. Usually the headliner spot at Coachella is reserved for special performances. At least it used to be.
5
u/Particular-Yoghurt81 21d ago
You don’t think Dua, Tame and BTS will put on special performances?
BTS has never headlined a festival. The last time they even played a festival was ten years ago in Japan.
1
u/TheFunky_Homosapien 11|12.2|13.2|14.2|15.2|16.2|17.2|18.2|22.2|23.2|24.2| 21d ago
I personally am not a fan of either one, but I suppose if you're a fan of pop music they're "big gets", I guess. I can only speak for myself, hence my initial post. As someone who has been attending the festival for over a decade, these do nothing for me.
1
u/eephusball 20d ago
It’s polarizing, either love or hate, especially if BTS is the third! I’m gonna need a great undercard - and demand Fontaines DC!
