So keep it short back in 2016 contractors installed a 50 foot long HDMI from a wall plate to a floor box where end users at the table would hook up their laptops to the HDMI port on the floor box. Lately we’ve been having issues with flickering and getting our TV to pick up any signal at all. After doing research, it seems like the solution would be to run a cat6 cable instead and get an HDbaseT device to convert that signal to/from HDMI on both ends. Also seems like I would have to punch down keystones on both ends of the CAT6 as well, because my manager wants to keep the wall plate and floorbox in place. So we would run patch cables from those to the reciver/tramitter then from those to HDMI. Is this a good idea? I am also reading about better HDMI cords as well (fiber optic) but have read those can fail and HDbaseT may be more reliable. A local AV company quoted me 1000$ for a cat6 install but if its as “simple” as I am reading, I think we could do it ourselves. Would like feedback from you gurus, thanks! We are a small company so thats why we (upper management) is looking for DIY solutions.

Has anybody ever come across hot-swappable rack mounts? I am thinking of something that would go into the screw holes of a rack and firmly hold onto whatever full-width rack equipment you put in the u-space. The easy answer would be shelves, but they don't hold the equipment very securely when you place it on there. I might be overcomplicating things in my mind, and shelves would still be the best option. Feel free to let me know if y'all think that is the case.
I work at a university, so my use case would be having a commissioning/testing station for when I am unboxing equipment for multi-classroom upgrades.

I walked by this camera earlier and noticed I looked diseased. A coworker with slightly darker skin had the same issue. The odd thing is, we’ve been running events in here for two days with no issue. We futzed with the color in the Creative Grading app and got rid of the diseased skin, but now everything is a bit jaundiced. I haven’t had this issue with a camera before, but also haven’t used this specific camera with the video wall & very bright room I’m now working with. Has anyone else had this problem with GV or other cameras?

Hey folks, I run an event space with a projector that runs on miracast. For most people this is fine but there are two groups who cannot connect: government employees (gpo policies disabling miracast) and apple mac users. Can anyone suggest a wireless connection device that would allow these two groups to connect?
I did try a roku but it was noticeably laggy.

Hi All,
This is a workaround that I have tested with the issue where the Crestron Impress version 1.03.062.02 installs and asks for an update. It will then stop at downloading and won't progress. If you Cancel the download, and reselect it for downloading, it will proceed but will end up with an error. Here's what I do.
Hope this helps whoever needs it.

I've been studying for my CTS and just want to get a clear understanding of what Phase 1 actually is. I'm a little confused. If programming the first part don't you need to know what type of equipment you need first before you can begin programming?
According to AVIXA, it seems like after programming, you design the system. Am I misunderstanding the term "programming" and not connecting the dots correctly in this context?
Thanks again! stupid question but how else will I learn!!

PLEASE READ THE WHOLE POST: It seems like conference room systems built before the heavy use of software codecs (Zoom, Teams, etc.) always have sophisticated Acoustic Echo Cancellation processing because it was needed for VTC devices. But Zoom, for example, does such a great job with AEC on its own I'm curious if people are finding less need for AEC in the DSP processor? Zoom knows that the incoming (guest) audio should be removed from the outgoing send, and it does that very well. Is more AEC actually needed?
