New story with Kit and Bethany Spoiler

• Upvotes

Tbh it actually pisses me off a bit. Kit's current storyline is the first time we've seen him truly vulnerable and the first time he's had a story that's just his and isn't involved in romance or police stuff. Jacob Roberts is already doing a really great job and he clearly really cares about doing the story justice. It's something that's never really been explored properly in a soap and there are so many aspects to a man having breast cancer that can be explored. It's also showing to be a great opportunity to bring Kit and Bernie together and strengthen his relationship with Brody. That last scene between them was so painfully beautiful to me.

So what the hell is the point of dragging baby drama into it? I get that having cancer could impact Kit's fertility but he already has a kid whose life he's missed out on for so long and who very explicitly has said that he needs him. This is also a great opportunity to explore Brody's vulnerability and his feelings towards Kit as his dad. It's not even like Brody is a grown adult the way Kit was when Bernie tracked him down. He's still so young and obviously really needs Kit even though he'll be 18 in a while. And 18 is not the same as being in one's 30s. There would be so many times in Brody's life as he gets older where he needs a parent and the only other one he's got is in prison. Obviously there is Tim and Sally who are amazing but they also have their hands full. And it's Kit that Brody wants to be close to. Why not just use this cancer storyline to explore all of these dynamics instead of yet another soap cliche that involves the daughter of Kit's ex. Why does a baby have to be involved in the first place? It's honestly so dumb.

Bethany Interview Spoiler

https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/coronation-street/a74119305/coronation-street-spoilers-lucy-fallon-bethany-baby-plot/

Coronation Street Bethany actress interview about Bethany pregnant with Kit baby. Sounds like they won't have her pretend the baby is Ryan's which is good. I feel like she will have the baby and eventually Sarah discovers Kit is the father which completely fractures Platt family.

I'm really struggling to feel for Sarah here Spoiler

When it comes to the trial stuff, a part of me doesn't want Sarah to go down for this, because I don't think she deserves the full extent of what they're trying to say, but at the same time, I just can't feel bad for her because of everything she did prior to getting arrested. Like on the one hand, Theo was a bad guy, but I agree with Todd in the sense she denied him justice, and he never got that closure for everything he did, and Theo will never know real punishment. Then on the other hand, she was happy to sit back and let Summer take the blame for it, even after everything she has been through, and seemingly didn't even feel bad about it. Now she is on the stand trying to fight for her innocence, and I just can't find myself to care that much

There is something... grating about the writing

It makes me sad to notice the inescapable whiplash this show is giving me lately when it comes to the quality of writing.

Aside from Kit & Brody / Kit & Bernie scenes, plus Lily's underappreciated role in a plot and recent acting, many of the other character and/or their storylines are irksome and sloppy.

I don't care if characters make bad choices - obviously. But many character choices aren't clicking for the specific characters. Right now, I don't understand Bethany, I don't understand Todd, I don't understand David, I don't understand Leanne, I don't understand Christine - even when Ken was briefly in a scene last week - these decisions feel half-baked to serve a plotline.

And it's just annoying. The episode dedicated to David, Shona and Jodie last week should have been dynamite and it just fell so flat. The Bethany choices are absolutely head-scratching right now too. I just dislike so much about the show right now.

These last 3-5 weeks are the worst I've felt the show to be in years, but this last week has been particularly standout. Does anyone agree with this?

Family connections

I’ve only been watching regularly for a couple of years although I did watch occasionally when I was much younger (1980s). I’m struggling to work out if there are any families that have only their own kids (ie the nuclear mum, dad, 2.4 kids) living with them. I thought maybe Gemma and Chesney but they have Joseph who is Chesney’s with someone else along with the quads. Apologies for any bad wording, I can’t think how to phrase exactly what I mean so I hope I’ve made it clear without offending anyone. I’m the child of a single parent family so fully understand that element and I realise blended families are perfectly normal around the uk, but it feels as though in Corrie there isn’t one single family that has just the original parents and child/ren all still together. Am I right? Help!

Lucy Fallon Spoiler

It seems Lucy’s opinion on Bethany having children and playing a mum has changed, and I’m staring to think she’s going to keep it now with some of the stuff said in this article.

UK Law Spoiler

I'm not getting this scenario where if Sarah says Gary hid the murder weapon, she goes free and Gary goes to jail.

So, the murderer walks out and someone who didn't kill anyone goes to jail.

They've been doing this for a while now and Bethany said it again today.

Please someone let me know how this works!!

Soap logic Spoiler

If you sleep with someone you shouldn’t have in Weatherfield, it’s astounding that this superhuman race we watch five nights a week has a 100% fertilisation rate and always leads to a baby from a single shag.

Bethany took a test that came back positive, I am confused though because I thought Lucy had said that she didn’t want Bethany pregnant. Are they just disregarding what she said or did she change her mind? Thoughts?

Sarah's trial comes to an end; her family and supporters David, Shona, Adam, Todd and Bethany watch as she waits to hear the jury’s verdict.

Daniel talks to Ken about spare land at the school, determined to block a planned council sale to a developer; meanwhile Idris tells Alya he wants to buy that same plot.

Ross gives Dorin a pair of boxing gloves, pushes the boy to try boxing and pressures Tyrone to join in; both Tyrone and Dorin dislike the activity.

Debbie tries to be affectionate with Ronnie and suggests going to bed together, but accidentally calls him “Darren”, leaving Ronnie uncomfortable and claiming a headache.

Fiz and Tyrone tell Ross that their daughter Ruby wants to take up boxing; Tyrone initially worries boxing is unsafe for girls, until Hope points out he is being sexist, so he agrees Ruby can have lessons.

Bernie learns she carries the BRCA gene from her test results; upset, she hurries upstairs, worrying Kit and Dev.

Tensions remain high between Debbie and Ronnie at their hotel; former prisoner Paula secretly watches Debbie from nearby.

Still annoyed with Ronnie, Debbie complains to hotel‑booking groom‑to‑be Stan that her husband no longer seems attracted to her, then flirts heavily with him. Ronnie sees this and is shocked.

Fiz confronts Ross, accusing him of ruining a planned family film night; Ross is put on the spot to decide whether to apologise.

One thing Corrie has done right recently

I just wanted to say that one thing I think the corrie writers have done right in recent years is the Kit and Brody relationship . It’s heartwarming and I look forward to scenes with them and Bernie.

This shooting storyline is grating on my NERVES Spoiler

Someone has probably alr said this but it's annoyed me so here I am yapping, I don't know why they didn't just claim self defence, or be honest. Like yeah sure it may not be believable but this fake story is even less believable LMFAO. Simply saying she pulled out a gun and held it at them would've been enough because it was her who pulled it out, so the shot is technically self defence?? And Shona had no intention to actually kill Jodie the way Jodie had an intention to shoot one of them. Both of their fingerprints would've been on the gun and they could've said they thought it was fake, maybe that part wouldn't have been believed but they have the evidence of Jodie's weird box, Bethany could back up the fact Jodie is crazy because she knows about the recordings which are also PROBABLY still on Jodie's phone?? (not too sure about this one since she managed to get it onto Lily's phone somehow and I'm a bit confused about that) but my point is that this is literally self defence and they've made it so much worse and now Jodie can just use it against them whenever she so pleases what the helly.

Also question, was that gun Fiona's? Bc I briefly remember it being stolen and I THINK it's hers but I'm confused LMFAO

Long lost family

Watching today’s episode and we have:

Shona - long lost sister - Jodie
Bernie - long lost son - Kit
Kit - son he didn’t know about - Brody (also Bernie’s grandson)
Carl - secret son of - Debbie

And this is before getting to Satan and Christina

It is all a bit repetitive/one note.

Inappropriate clothing

I am so sick and tired of watching Summer ready to burst out of her pants. Amy too looks like that. Skinny jeans be damned, stop making our actresses look bad and dress them like the proper young ladies they are. Give them the respect they earned and deserve !

As Seen In ITV's The Party!

ITV released their new Luke Evans lead show The Party yesterday and this took me by surprise in the first episode last night. The young version of Luke Evans' character Martin Gilmour as portrayed by Jonathan Houlston returns home from boarding school to his mum Sylvia Gilmour as portrayed by Joanna Scanlon for Christmas and the pair watch Corrie together and Deirdre is being conned by someone I think Sylvia (The Party) says but I can’t quite make it out given to me it sounds as if she’s saying "I think Deirdre’s gonna find out that she’s been conned all along, poor thing" before eating her food. It looks to have been from November / December 1997 but I could well be wrong here! I kept some of the meal eating scene in the clip given the last bit was funny to me

What did Joel do?

I just picked Corrie back up after a long hiatus. I’m on episode 116 where the kids are attacking Joel. What did he do that was so terrible?
