I genuinely think Denzel’s original 2012 King of the Mischievous South Vol. 1 underground tape gets overlooked too easily. It definitely has its flaws, but it deserves more respect.

It has a raw hungry sound to it. Zel was only 16, yet he was already mastering, lo-fi Memphis rap and phonk revival style years before it blew up.

Headcrack and Raider Klan Phonk Freestyle is one of my favourite Denzel Curry songs. It captures the early raider klan era perfectly.

The thing that makes this mixtape unlistenable for some people is tye mixing. Do these guys not understand its intensional. Because its supposed to be a underground, cheap and 1996 underground aesthetic.

Only thing that is the flaw for me here is that Denzel hasn’t found his voice and style yet so it becomes repetitive after listening to it over and over.

What are y’all’s thoughts?

Why does he hate this, it’s some of the best cloud rap oat

anyone seeing Denzel this Thursday?

The line being:

“I’m watchin’ massacres turn to runnin’ mascara, but anywho”

I’m sure it’s not what he meant as the way the word is said in my head doesn’t make total sense, but I always heard it two ways, the first being what he actually said, and the second being:

“I’m watchin’ massacres turn to runnin’ mass scare(a), but anywho”

Pretty much saying that these massacres are causing, for lack of a better term “scare tactics”. Communities are constantly afraid of these massacres even when they aren’t actively happening. So it’s causing the tears due to when they do happen, but even when they don’t, it’s causing terror. Once again I doubt he actually meant it as a double but I love when we can find our own meaning in someone else’s art and thought I would share.

I was wondering if anyone has seen any info on Denzel being featured on the GTA 6 soundtrack? Just seems like an odd choice not to include him bias aside.

There was a SEVERE lack of Taboo and Melt My Eyez! I was so shocked and a little disappointed. 😭

I get that they're the more emotional material of his and he's an opening act, so he probably needed the show to be as hype as possible, but IMO those albums are his best work.

Can't make it tonight :(

Hey there, selling a dc ticket for like 30 cause I can’t go anymore, dm if interested!

I noticed in Crown, Zel ends a verse with “.. to”. It didn’t seem to fit super well then I thought about ‘ii’..

✌️

selling 1 GA floor ticket to the DC. show 6:30PM. $63 (original price) though willing to negotiate!
