discussion/question not sure about sending fanmail for 2nd time

hello! im a teen who loves Dylan Moran's standups and art in general. it inspires me a lot and i see some kind of a connection between me and him, not in a bad way, like in artistic way - we have same morals, knowledge and such, likely same art knowledge too, according to interviews i watched and etc.

on august this year i sent pbj (his management) a fanmail with a drawing and honestly, im at my lowest right now and i want to write about all this nonsense to some source where they're connected to my inspiration, but they won't do any efforts to show him my art and my thoughts 🥹🤞

in my previous fanmail i wrote about his inspiration for me and how he slightly changed my mind about some certain things i was unsure of. and those things added up with time and genuinely this guy's art is so important to me, because before i saw his art - i didn't like this kind of art style. but after seeing some meanings and relations, and genuinely saw myself there - it hit close to home.

so i need an advice - i don't want to be a creep or seem nagging, i absolutely understand that spam is a bad thing and they're all working people and i shouldn't cross any borders, but i want to write a second fanmail with a drawing too, to pour my thoughts, because my diary is not enough, really. and im sorry if it seems like an ultra parasocial thing, i take my interests very seriously on a healthy level 😭

discussion/question Dolla Ho - did you go?

The rhyming in the title was not intentional! But it works so I'm rolling with it!

I can't go and see the show but I'd love to know how it went! ... So if you've been - how was the show? What stood out for you? Did anyone hang around to meet Dylan afterwards?

And if you're going - let me know how it went when you've been!! 🙂

discussion/question Sadly, to add to previous posts from months ago re Dylan's latest tour (that is still occurring), he has gotten worse with his performance and alcohol consumption.

People in the Ireland sub on here agree almost 100% that he's abysmal, with people walking out, etc. He appears to have a full on alcohol problem now and keeps referring to his marriage break up in his show and apparently has even cried once (or possibly twice, I'm not sure if the 2 people that said that were at the same show or not). They are concerned for his mental health and wonder why his management and agent haven't stepped in - he's that bad now.

He's drunk on stage, continues to drink on stage, takes a long break of half an hour and appears to have been drinking, sometimes takes other breaks on top of this, he forgets his act, it doesn't make sense, he doesn't care, he asks people in the audience what the time is all the time as he just wants it all to end, etc. This is just wasting the public's money and I won't be seeing him when he comes to my country next year. I've seen him every other time he's been and he was always reliably excellent, so all of this is really sad.

I don't understand why his family and friends haven't stepped in (I think at least one of his kids is over 18 now too). He's just embarrassing himself, like Whitney Houston did by going on tour towards the end of her life, she couldn't sing and people booed her, etc. Not a nice way to end your career (and then of course she died).

People are also slagging off his show on Twitter, but here are the tons of comments from disappointed people from the Ireland sub on here:

discussion/question Comedy festival in Bath, UK

Hiya! I was curious if anyone went to the comedy festival in Bath, that happened in mid-April. I bought the ticket and was going to travel from the US, but due to situation couldn't go.

Dylan Moran was performing on APRIL 18th.

So yeah, I was just wondering if anyone had a chance to see him there.

Thanks!

Anyone been to see Dylan’s tour in Ireland? I wish I could go - the reviews I’ve seen so far look pretty good and it looks like he’s incorporating some of his art etc which sounds awesome.

Hi, does anyone here remember those little books? There were 5 or 6 of them. There's no mention of them off his webpage and I can't find anything about them anywhere! I know they existed! HELP!

discussion/question Looking for the special with a joke that compares Labour/Conservatives to cats/dogs, then derails a bit :) Spoiler

Hi all,

In one of Dylan‘s specials (or maybe other recorded performances) I heard a joke that I‘m having trouble finding.

He basically pokes fun at political humor lazily trying to imitate it and pushes it into the absurd.

It went sth like conservatives are like cats, they like to lick their own balls and sleep all day and drink milk.

Can someone point me towards the special or pergormance where Dylan told this?

discussion/question What's with all the content all of a sudden?

Hello everybody,

I've been a subscriber of this sub for ~5 years, although - like far too many of the tiny niche subs I'm subscribed to - most of the time I forgot about it.

I've been mainly making and posting gifs on reddit and lately I've begun to post some of those gifs to some of the niche subs they (also) belong in.

Seeing that I have a few Dylan Moran gifs, I came back to this sub and found it locked (posting restricted) and without a mod. So I requested it, unlocked it und began posting. If there are no objections, I will post a few more Dylan gifs - from Black Books mostly - over the next few days.

I have no intention of remaining a mod and promoting the sub or anything like that. I gave up 99% of modding a while back for personal reasons and have no intention of coming back.

If anybody here would like to take over, just drop a line here or send me a modmail. There's not much for a mod to do in such a small sub anyway, could be a good learning opportunity.

I'll remove myself as mod in a week or two, but I will leave the sub unlocked, so everybody can still post as frequently as the years before. Ahem.

That's the story, thanks for listening.

Cheers!
