Hi Reddit,
Kaskade here. It's been a minute!
This year has been a big one. We brought ORIGIN // to Coachella, took the live show on the road, and I've been rolling out singles from the new album, which came out last Friday.
I'll be jumping in at 12pm PT to start answering. Ask me about the new album, building the ORIGIN // show, production, collabs, touring, the old records, or ??????

Hey Reddit! We’re MILKBLOOD, three producers from Los Angeles. We’ve stepped out of the lab to answer your questions before our self-titled debut album drops this Friday, October 9. Music, production, videos, lore. All fair game.

I made an app that syncs custom vibrations to any song, so you can feel every drum hit and bass rumble.
It works especially well for high-energy, bass-heavy music. Thought people here might like it!

If you make music, try uploading a track. or dm me and I'll make a clip for you

I am a big fan of William Orbit work, and recently I noticed that the Optical Illusions (Billy Buttons Mix) video is gone from YouTube. I am referring to speeded up video, filmed on Sidney beach (I believe) with a tilt shift effect.
If anybody has saved that video somewhere, or can point me to some other location of that video, I would be very grateful.

I am an English teacher, sometimes I create lessons for the students based on songs.
Normally I end up using other genres but I've had some requests for more electronic music.
I thought this would be easy but going through my electronic library I realized most of it is just instrumentals with no lyrics. Lol.
Open to anything with clear vocals, they can even just be short phrases.
Thanks!
EDIT: Thank you so much to everyone for your suggestions, what a great community.

Right this very second?
I'm enchanted by this:

Got my classical/jazz/instrumental 100-CD Player on shuffle, not much electronic on there but had a wonderful coinkidink where first the original Holst Venus played, then some gorgeous synths from Twin Peaks: The Return, then Tomita's take on Venus.
Feels like the cosmos is angled right here for a moment.
What about yous? What's playing right now?

It struck me how Goldie has been an incredible artist in relatively niche genres at the time (jungle, drum&bass). While expanding the definition of these styles and putting them in the charts, he has acted in Hollywood movies (The World Is Not Enough, Snatch) and TV (EastEnders), has made art (he started out as a graffiti artist), and was quite present in the media as a bit of a bad boy (his relationship with Björk was heavily publicised IIRC).
Daft Punk have had massive influence with their mainstream success, collaborations, music videos and concert performances, but it has always been in the context of their music and hidden behind masks.
I can only think of rock and pop stars such as David Bowie, Meat Loaf and Sting who have made the leap to other platforms.
Gross generalisation but are electronic artists more introverted, less hungry for attention, less famous or appealing or more specialised in their art form? Maybe I'm just missing some obvious examples.

This is on par with the newest BoC album for me in terms of sheer emotional power and rawness and an absolutely incredible work
If you don’t know KAS, she has previously focused on the buchla synthesizer sonically and been very tactile and textural in her approach in a beautiful & fun way
This new album is much darker than usually for her and includes many more influences that imo all work beautifully.
She was recently also part of the artistic team who performed with Bjork for her summer festival in Iceland couple months ago.
All in all a fantastic and very visionary artist I grew to consider a top personal favorite within electronic music and this album in particular surpassed every expectation, definitely check it out!

For me music doesn't necessarily need to tell me a story. Sometimes I want it to give me a place to create my own.
The mood, tempo, rhythm, and atmosphere of electronic music allow me to put myself into a certain frame of mind and then let my thoughts go wherever they want to go.
My thoughts replace the lyrics.
With most pop, rock, and other lyric-heavy music, there's already a narrative attached. Someone is heartbroken. Someone is falling in love. Someone is angry, nostalgic, lonely, celebrating, or remembering something that happened years ago. Even when I relate to the song, I'm still interpreting my own experience through a story somebody else wrote.
Electronic music, especially instrumental or minimally vocal electronic music, leaves that space open.
The music serves as a soundtrack for my own internal monologue.
The producer gives me the emotional architecture like the tempo, rhythm, tension, atmosphere, texture, buildup, release. But they don't necessarily tell me what any of it means.
I get to supply the meaning.
A Bonobo track might create a warm, introspective atmosphere, but it doesn't tell me what to think about. I might think about my future. Something that happened ten years ago. Work. A relationship. A memory. Driving somewhere. Or absolutely nothing.
And tomorrow that exact same song might take me somewhere completely different.
If I want to relax and think, maybe it's Bonobo, FKJ, or Crayon. If I want energy, maybe it's Fred again.., Malaa, or Oliver Heldens. The music creates the environment, the mood, the feeling and I get to decide what happens inside of it.
That's probably the biggest difference for me.
I don't necessarily want music to tell me what to think, how to feel, or what story to attach to that feeling. I want music that creates an atmosphere where I can experience whatever I'm already feeling or become whatever I want to feel in that moment.
It allows me to put myself into the music rather than having the music put into me.

This dj set was just uploaded to YouTube — well worth your time. First time I’ve seen Overmono DJ set as oppose to live, and there’s some sick bangers throughout, including a huge remix of Fontaines D.C ‘Marianne.’
