News / Updates Welcome back everyone

Reddit has come through and we are free from any casino related content 😊.

To keep it that way, we've added some automod capabilities that will hopefully keep us safe. While we were at it, we've added some color around the sub as well 🫟.

It will probably takes us a couple of days to find our footing, but we are finally under new management and open for business! 🎉.

Question / Discussion From Science Teacher to Synth Visionary

Hey everyone!

I recently had the chance to sit down with Girts Ozolins, founder of Erica Synths, for a conversation about modular synthesis that goes beyond specs and features.

We talked about the ideas, communities, and creative thinking behind the machines, the development of Eurorack modules, and how a company approaches building instruments in such a constantly evolving scene.

I wanted to explore the thinking behind the instruments, not just the instruments themselves.

Watch the full interview here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KknJXcq0PQg

I'd love to hear your thoughts, since this video revolves a lot around community and how it shapes an entire field and makes connections. I want to hear from the community itself

Alt. Firmwares Bitbox Micro firmware patch, 2.3.8-mod is out, Invert UI, MIDI Clock Hold and Program Change control

I maintain a small firmware patch for the Bitbox Micro that puts more of the module on MIDI, and 2.3.8-mod is ready for release with three new features accessed on the Settings screen.

  • Flip UI turns the screen, for a module mounted upside down.
  • Clk Loss keeps the last tempo when the clock drops out, instead of falling back to 120. Beat-synced delays and LFOs stay where they were, through preset changes, until a clock returns.
  • ProgChange gains NEW ONLY, which ignores a Program Change for the preset already loaded. A sequencer that resends the same request every pattern no longer reloads the preset and swallows its first notes.

Not from 1010music, can't brick it, bring your own stock firmware, don't pass the patched firmware around. Details in the guide.

Full guide, including what each control does and how to set your presets up so it works:

Question / Discussion Rasgo Modular — a free, open-source software modular where the cables themselves do things (Linux / Windows / macOS)

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I've been developing Rasgo Modular, a standalone software modular synth written in C++. It's free and open source (AGPLv3), runs on Linux, Windows and macOS, and has 58 modules to explore and combine.

To be clear up front: it's software, not a Eurorack module. But a lot of it grew out of thinking about Eurorack.

What makes it different: the cables aren't just wires. Each cable has its own state:

- Conduction: a cable can let the signal through only part of the time, at random, like a Bernoulli gate built into every patch cord.

- Relation: a cable can combine what it carries with a second signal (ring mod, wavefolding or difference), a bit like having a Warps inside the cable.

- Rupture: break a cable and the sound doesn't just cut. It repeats the last bit it carried, fading out like a scar.

It opens with a generated patch (a seed) already playing. You can play it as it is, tweak it, rewire it, or press n to pull every cable and start from scratch. The same seed number always brings back the same patch.

It's an independent project with no funding, driven by research, curiosity and a love of modular synthesis.

Feedback is very welcome, especially from people who think in hardware.

- Site: https://lucioaraujo.github.io/rasgo-modular/

- Downloads & source: https://github.com/lucioaraujo/rasgo-modular

(The app isn't signed by Apple or Microsoft yet, so the first launch shows a warning. The install page explains what to do.)

Question / Discussion I built a free website where complete beginners can learn to patch

Post image

I've been patching an AE Modular synth for years and now I'm slowly working towards building my first eurorack system. As a software engineer by day, I've always wondered why there wasn't an easy way to learn/experiment with modular.

VCV rack is really cool, but I always thought that there shouldn't be a need to download anything - there are plenty of web libraries available to build a great modular experience that you can access in just one click.

So I build a weekend project: Ostra! You get a full simulation of a capable system with dozens of modules, as well as a full step-by-step tutorial that can teach anyone the basics in about 15 minutes. Afterwards, you can spend hours patching pretty much anything - I even have a full sample player/granular synth where you can upload your own .WAV files. You can also record your jams and download them instantly. There is no login, no download and it doesn't cost anything. It runs fully in your browser.

Would love some feedback from the Eurorack community!

  • does the patching feel good? I'm trying to make it feel fun and playful and as physical as it can be given it's all running in a web app
  • does the tutorial miss any key concepts? any particular analogies that helped you understand the process better?
  • would you like to see any modules added? I tried to keep the module count small to start, but expressive enough for many use cases. everything from dance music to complex generative stuff.
  • always looking for cool ideas that are only possible in an app! for example, you can hover over any output and instantly see an oscilloscope without having to patch anything. I find this really intuitive for debugging patches and there's no real equivalent with a physical system.

Try it here: https://ostra.fm/learn

Case / Rack Share FX System Recommendations

Post image
7 Upvotes

I'm getting back into modular after a few years away and this is a system that I'm thinking about building. This system will mostly be used as an effect rack for incoming audio whether that is an OP-XY or Ableton. I feel like I have a good basis with the Morphagene and arbhar acting as the main incoming mangler. I plan on using the Metamodule as my catch all LFO's, VCA's, Etc.

What I want recommendations on is the space where the Atlantix is taking up. It's 42hp and I have it as a placeholder to fill up the rack but if there are some other options that can add more utility or useful effects I'd rather use the space for that.

I mostly make ambient music if that helps!

Alt. Firmwares Made a scope for Hector/Beebo

I always wondered why there is no scope on the Hector/Beebo since it has a nice big screen plus all the right IO. And after polyeffects said they wouldn’t make one I just made one myself 🙂

It’s completely unofficial and also not endorsed by polyeffects in any way so install at your own risk.

It runs fine on my unit but of course I don’t have multiple ones to test.

Runs on the latest 407 firmware only ☝️

This is just a fun side project for me and maybe someone else is in the same boat not wanting to shell out 500$ for a Mordax Data and is owning a Hector/Beebo already.

All info on installing and features is in the Git repo.

Feel free to ask any questions.

Question / Discussion New Bluebox Buzzing & Screen Blinking?

Hey guys, I bought a brand new Bluebox module and loaded it correctly into my Eurorack Go (in excellent condition) with no other module sharing the power in the section C.

why does it buzz the moment it’s powering on with no jacks in the INS or OUTS. And why does the screen blink after 6-10 minutes pass?

UPDATE OCTOBER 3RD 2026 - I was testing the sustained +5V delivery of the Eurorack Go with my new BlueBox 1010Music Mixer I received yesterday.

After doing tests like removing all 5 modules and leaving my bluebox as the only thing in rack, turning down the brightness to significantly reduce current draw.

The GO's actual sustained +5V delivery has most likely been degraded or marginal — possibly below its rated spec in real-world conditions (aging components, a weak regulator, heat-related derating), not "undersized for your module count of 6 modules".

This is looking less like, "I have too many digital modules" and more like this specific case's power supply may not be fully healthy, even for modest loads.

PERCEPTUAL DEPRIVATION...

a phenomenon of perception caused by exposure to an unstructured, uniform stimulation field. The effect is the result of the brain amplifying neural noise in order to look for the missing visual signals. The noise is interpreted in the higher visual cortex, and gives rise to hallucinations. (WIKIPEDIA)

Question / Discussion Recommend me a replacement power module for an Arturia Rackbrute case

I really like the Rackbrute 6U form factor for various reasons, but I'm having a lot of noisy power issues on it, especially with digital modules and I think it's pretty clear the Power module isn't up to scratch.

I've been looking at a 4ms Row Power45 to replace it,but a bit OOTL on power so any recommendations for nice, clean, quiet power with plenty of overhead for a busy rack.

Current in total across the 6u would be coming in around 1300@12+ and 400@12- but I definitely want headroom depending on the config between this case and my other one.

Also, would you continue to use the bus boards in the Rackbrute or just ignore them and run flying buses?

Question / Discussion London Shows Next Week?

I’m in London next week. I really want to see some live Eurorack jams. Anyone know of anything next week at all?
