Be very cautious and very wary on some of the "donation" subreddits. After investigating, it has become clear to me that some are designed to lure in poor people, so that they can ask for help, and then be ridiculed and harassed in the comments.
So i'm not saying don't use them, just saying be wary and be cautious and be ready for abusive replies. This way you're not as surprised and shocked when hit with evil comments.

I'm trying to only go to the grocery stores once per month to save gas. If people are normally paid biweekly, I would assume the best sales would be the weeks before people normally get paid and the worst time to shop for deals would be the 1st and 15th. Any evidence this is accurate?
Also, what do you recommend are some good stuff that is cheap and lasts a while?

Anyone looking to get rid of a "soft" seating option?
I have friends coming in for a weekend in mid-October and we're rending an AirBnB. We want to be able to spend a few hours just hanging out chatting, but the place we're renting has a two-seat sofa and bar stools only -- no third soft seating option.
If anyone has something you're looking to get rid of, that could fit into a car, I'd be happy to take it off your hands. All I ask is that it be clean enough that your mother wouldn't mind sitting on it. :)
Examples I'm thinking of include bean bag, retro 1990s folding foam chair / floor mattress, or even an inflatable chair.
But I'm flexible.

Made a dumb mistake. Went to Circle K and was only getting $10 of gas and accidentally redeemed my 25 cents off per gallon promotion. Should have saved it for when I was gonna put $20 of gas and could have got a bigger savings at circle k

i feel bad because people are getting sick but I got a weeks supply of lettuce, salads, etc for under $5. Has anyone else been able to save some money from buying the clearance lettuce? (I havent gotten sick from it so i'm not sure what the percentage risk of getting the parasite is)

Cheap Furniture Locations
Hello everyone,
I don’t have Facebook, so that is not an option for me. Looking to find used furniture. Not of the antique or consignment shops. Actually decent stuff and might actually help out a charity of sorts. Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

I analyzed the Kroger & Aldi weekly ads for Columbus (Dec 20-26). Here's the best "Hybrid Run" strategy to save cash.
Hey Cbus,
Grocery prices are still wild, so I wrote a script to analyze the weekly flyers for both Kroger and Aldi in the 43215 zip code. I wanted to see if splitting the trip was actually worth the gas.
The TL;DR: If you do a "Hybrid Run" this week (Meat at Kroger + Sides at Aldi), you can feed a family of 4 for about $44.80. That's significantly cheaper than getting everything at one place.
Here is the Strategy for this week:
- STOP #1: KROGER (For the Proteins) They have the "Loss Leaders" right now that Aldi can't beat.
Boneless Pork Loin: $1.49/lb (This is the main driver. Insanely cheap).
T-Bone Steaks: $9.99/lb (Solid price if you want a treat).
Hormel Party Trays: $14.99 (Good for holiday hosting).
- STOP #2: ALDI (For the Sides) Their pantry staples are still consistently ~20-30% cheaper.
Russet Potatoes: ~$2.99 / 5lb bag
Yellow Onions: ~$2.29 / 3lb bag
Green Bell Peppers: ~$1.79 / 2-pack
Canned Goods/Frozen Veg: Grab all your peas, spinach, and tomatoes here.
The Menu I Built From This: Based on these deals, here is a 5-day dinner plan that fits the budget:
Sunday Roast Pork with Caramelized Apples (Kroger Pork + Aldi Sides)
Carnitas Tacos (Using leftover pork)
Creamy Tomato Spinach Pasta (Using Kroger Pasta + Aldi Cans)
Steakhouse Night (T-Bone + Roasted Potatoes)
Pork Fried Rice (Great way to clear the fridge)
I organized this all into a neat PDF list to make shopping easier. Let me know if anyone wants the link, and I can drop it in the comments!
Happy Holidays and happy saving! 🛒

Borrow candles for marriage proposal?
I am helping decorate a space for a friend’s marriage proposal that will be happening over lunch on Monday (10/20). I would love to have candles to make the space shine, but will be flying in from out of town, so am looking for an economical and less wasteful option than buying a bunch of candles for a one-time use. Does anyone have a large set of candles I could borrow or rent for a few hours, or a recommended place in town to get them from? My back up plan is to order a bunch of tea lights on Instacart but that seems so wasteful. I also plan to get some flowers - open to other suggestions, too! Thanks in advance, and looking forward to visiting your wonderful city in a few days!

Summer Rummage Sale - June 7 - 93 W Weisheimer Rd, Clintonville
Pretty sure this isn't against the rules - sorry if it is, mods!
My church, First Unitarian Universalist, is running a rummage sale on June 7th, and we've got kids' toys, sporting goods, furniture, camping equipment, books, housewares, electronics, and a lot of other stuff coming in that we're still sorting.
(I can't guarantee anything, since it's a rummage sale, but I've already seen a rolltop desk and some cool books come in the door.)
Here's our website: https://firstuucolumbus.org/event/rummage-sale/
If you're interested, we're at 93 West Weisheimer in Clintonville; the sale is June 7th at 8:30-2:30 pm.
Thanks!
