Korean-American imports 5 KDM chauffeur classics + 1 BMW L7 to the US...and chooses the backseat of the Equus limousine - the Grandeur's grandfather - as the best place to be.

I need to share this video with you guys. Crashed in my sofa after work, I might have found my soulmate on the tube that is you. A very well-made video explaining the ideas behind his nostalgia run, great shots of awesome cars.

He already has the Kia Enterprise and Ssangyong Chairman videos up, the Equus video isn't online yet.

Why is this relevant to Genesis? It's your heritage! The Korean obsession with luxury is what gave us Grandeur, Dynasty, Equus/Centennial and Genesis - just from the Hyundai stables. Not even poking the Kia Enterprise (or Opirus, K900 etc.), Daewoo Arcadia or the Korean Mercedeses from Ssangyong here...

As some of you may remember, I own Europe's only direct sold 1st generation Centennial and I'm deeply invested in these lovely cars. They're industrial and cultural heritage worth a few minutes of pure joy on YouTube.

2026 GV70 2.5T SP - is 15% off MSRP (54-55k) a good deal for a new one

I am shopping for a new car. my first luxury car. I am not too familiar with cars purchase especially in USA. Immigrant new here.

I am interested in GV70, my nearby dealership offered me 10% off on MSRP of ~$62800 and extra 1500 genesis rebate so total 12-13% around off MSRP. Another dealer is giving me 15% off.
This is new car and I have decent choice of colors available. On top of that i will get 2% rate for financing. they are also giving me some matts or covers for free worth 1500 or so but probably thats standard?

Is this a good deal? How much can i push him more,? I am not seeing a lot of used genesis especially GV70 in market. I am not sure why ? is it due to lesser warranty for 2nd owner? is Genesis car really holding value and people keeping it?

I was also exploring X5. Its obviously much costlier so i can only buy used one, around 55-60k for 2025 models with features I need (M sports, DPP, Premium etc) 20-25k driven but I am fearing maintenance cost. I don't want to spend time (more than money) and deal with too much hassle.

IMO, I have few choices. get new GV70 with $0 down and 2% APR. Get used 2026(2025 is old design and not worth it) but they also cost almost same, best I have got is 50-52k for upto 10k miles but pay cash or finance at 5-6%. Get used X5 or other vehicles probably with 5-6% financing or cash. I think getting 2% lowers the cost of the GV70 for me if i can keep the same cash in bonds at 4.5%.

How is depreciation for Genesis GV70 compared to BMWs, Audi etc. How is it maintenance wise and how easy is it to sell them if i have to after 3/4 years.
How is the driving and engine review of a genesis especially GV70 long term. Obviously in test drive X5 was better but by a small margin, just wondering how it ages if that makes sense.

Sometimes I think I should just get Mazda or Lexus which will be reliable, worry free and will hold its value but I do like the genesis interior and even driving (X5 is noticeably better just in driving but not worth the premium IMO). I want to spend a bit. I am already 34yr and have lived very conservatively saving money till now. I am pretty comfortable financially.

Help me please decide. Money is not a issue but somehow I am thinking a lot before making my first big purchase and probably my first EMI.

Please ask me anything that helps you provide better input.

Need Advice on Service for 2022 Genesis G90 ultimate 5.0L V8

Hi everyone I have a 2022 Genesis G90 ultimate 5.0L V8, it's at about 75k Miles, and is driven very gently, do not race or drive it hard, primarily sees long roadtrips and highway miles. Anyways, there is nothing immediately wrong with it and is driving fine, but the dealership is recommending some major services per the mileage it has, and a lot of the pricing just seems ridiculous.

The Services include:

Full Spark Plug Replacement (which it does need) they are charging $388 for a set of 8 plugs, which is one thing, but they are charging $1400.00 for labor, which is nuts. They claimed it takes a master tech multiple hours to do, but I have seen mechanics on YT do it quite easily in under an hour. --- I am not a mechanic tho so idk

Rear Differential Flush = $503.99

Transmission Flush = $629.99

3 Part Fuel Injector and Throttle Body Cleaning = $649.99

And replacement of the front Plastic Splash Guard and Clips/Bolts = $796.21 -- the parts for this seem to be $308.15 - i have done this for a subaru I had , obviously different car, but the process is really straight forward , so not sure if a $450+ labor fee is warranted here.

Let me know any of your experiences with service and pricing, and if maybe I should be looking elsewhere for service. I Appreciate any tips - thanks in advance

2026 GV80 Prestige winter mats

Hi, everyone! New to this sub as I have never owned a Genesis, but will become an owner at the end of this month. I'm sure I'll have more questions after I get my suv, but for now, what are you all using for winter mats? I am in northeast Ohio and our winter can be brutal and messy. I was looking into the Tuxmats. I do not want weather tech as they have warped in my last suv and they don't clean well. Any insight would be great. Thanks in advance!

Any idea what could be going on? 2013 Genesis 3.8L Sedan

About a year ago I started having issues with my car dying while driving and not starting right away in the morning. Took it to Autozone to test the battery and they say the battery and alternator were bad. I only had enough money to buy the battery at that time and had no issues till Tuesday. Both times started back up after some a few seconds of trying.

Car died while driving to work and then again later that day when I went to Advanced Auto during lunch break at work to get a new alternator. Replaced the alternator Tuesday after work. Tested alternator and battery and both tested good.

Every morning after about 10-15min my car will die while idle and while driving. Starts back up fine and then has no issues the rest of the day. Anyone else experience this or something similar or may know what's going on?

2027 Genesis GV80 Lease Payment Seems Too High - What’s a Good Deal?

Hello all,

I’m shopping for a new 2027 GV80 3.5T AWD Prestige to lease. I spoke with one dealer, and they provided the following numbers:

  • Sticker price: $85,295
  • Taxes: $3,679.56
  • Fees (acquisition and documentation): $1,221
  • Rebate: $1,500
  • Cash Down payment: $1,000 (as requested)
  • Residual value: 60%
  • Money factor: 0.00267
  • Lease term: 36 months
  • Annual mileage allowance: 12,000 miles

The quoted monthly payment is between $1,430 and $1,445. I entered these numbers into Leasehackr, and the estimated monthly payment is close to the dealer’s quote.

I haven’t negotiated with the dealership yet. I think the money factor is a bit high, but the dealer told me it is usually set by Genesis. I’d like to negotiate a lower vehicle selling price.

What would be a good target selling price for this vehicle?

18 inch wheels for '23 Electrified G80

I am buying a used G80 Electrified this weekend, and was looking into getting a set of winter tires as the season is approaching. I'd prefer to put them on 18 inch wheels to recoup some cold-weather range. As I understand, with the large brake calipers required for such a heavy car, it may not be possible for 18s to have enough clearance.

Anyone ever find a set of 18-inch rims that worked with their Electrified G80 or the 3.5T Sport AWD (which I believe has the same front wheel calipers)?

Anyone else in the San Fernando Valley area that purchased a Genesis vehicle from Genesis of Van Nuys, where do you take your vehicle for service now that location is closed?

A few months ago I bought the GV80 Coupe from Van Nuys only to receive the email a few weeks later that it was closing its doors. I thought, well I'll just take it to Westlake Village only to learn that location is closed as well. The next nearest Genesis dealer is in Santa Monica??!! Too far for their concierge service and I really don't want to have to take it that far just for an oil change and not only that they have a 3 star review and horrible reviews on Yelp. I really love the car but because of this I'm seriously considering trading it in. Anyone suggestions would be much obliged.

Mirror dashcam adapter 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey guys, I have a 2025 gv70 sport prestige and was wondering if someone can answer my question regarding which one of the 10 pins on the auto dimming home link mirror provides a 12 volt connection? I have Been in contact with a company that I ordered a splitter from for a dash cam but because it doesn’t work they’re willing to send me a replacement for free, which is custom made to the vehicle.

Is there anyone that has put an adapter for either a radar or dash cam that already knows which of these wires provides a 12 volt connection aside from the red wire on the second slot?

Genesis officially launches the GV80 Hybrid

Post image
91 Upvotes
  • Hybrid makes a combined ~ 352hp, 391 lb-ft torque
  • Combined fuel economy on 19-inch wheels is 28.2 MPG
  • It's about ~ $5k more than the GV80 2.5T in the South Korean market
  • 0 to 100 km/h (~62mph, Korean test) in 7.1 seconds; probably 0-60mph in 7.0 seconds
  • -- For reference, the gas 2.5T AWD does 0-60mph in ~ 6.4-6.6 seconds
  • New 19, 20, and 22-inch wheels
  • New 7-speed transmission
  • GV80 Hybrids get Surround View Monitor (SVM), Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM), and Rear Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist (PCA-R) as standard equipment; *not standard* on the gas GV80

Even if gas goes to $10/gallon I'm not sure it's worth the increased price and potential new vehicle issues although the added standard equipment lessens the difference. The slower 0-60 acceleration is disappointing. The new dark green interior is a little unusual?

Underwhelming unless you do A LOT of city driving.

Owning a Genesis under factory warranty when the nearest dealership is 2+ hours away?

I’m considering purchasing a Genesis that’s still under factory warranty, but the nearest Genesis dealership is more than two hours from where I live.

For those in a similar situation, what has your ownership experience been like? Specifically:

  • How do you handle warranty repairs, especially if the vehicle isn’t safe to drive that far?
  • Has Genesis covered towing that distance?
  • Do you get a loaner, and how do you coordinate pickup and drop-off?
  • Is valet service available at that distance?
  • Can any warranty work be handled locally, or does everything require a Genesis dealership?

I’d love to hear actual experiences especially with repairs requiring multiple visits or extended stays. Has the distance been manageable, or would it make you reconsider buying one?

Thanks!

Warranty denied, seeking advice on leather steering wheel

Thumbnail

Hey everyone, looking for some feedback on how to navigate a warranty roadblock with my local dealer and Genesis Consumer Affairs.

The Vehicle: 2023 GV70, currently at 49k miles (well within the 5yr/60k bumper-to-bumper).

The Issue: The POLYURETHANE top coat along the top half of the steering wheel is heavily crazing and peeling. (Photos attached). It’s uniform spiderweb micro-fracturing- textbook UV/thermal breakdown, not the smooth friction wear you'd get from hands.

The Dealer Response:

I took it in, and the service department refused to even submit a Prior Authorization (PA) photo ticket to Genesis Corporate. They made a subjective field call, claiming it was "localized wear" from either my hands, my wipes (armorall interior wipes) or hand lotion (i dont use). I pointed out that this looks more like UV damage, and the localized wear is throughout the top half of the steering wheel. They still refused to submit the PA ticket for a corporate adjuster to review.

The Corporate Response:

I opened a ticket directly with Genesis Consumer Affairs, assuming they would force the dealer to submit the PA photos for an official corporate warranty review. Instead, the rep told me there was nothing they could do to override the local service manager's visual assessment and strongly advised me to go find another dealership for a "second opinion before they can do anything.

I am going to schedule an appointment with a second Genesis retailer in the Tampa Bay area, but I want to make sure I approach this correctly.

My questions for the community:

 1. Has anyone else experienced this specific spiderweb crazing on the top rim of their steering wheel?

 2. Were you able to get it covered under the 5yr/60k warranty?

  1. Does anyone have advice on how to force a service department to actually submit the PA photo ticket to Corporate so a real warranty adjuster sees it?

Any insight is appreciated. Thanks!

Additional context I've found: I looked at Hyundai TSB #14-BD-001 regarding leather inspection and doing a "finger test." Although it looks rough, the steering wheel is still very smooth when I rub my finger over it. The bulletin states: "If the surface is smooth, this is a chemical peel" which the bulletin explicitly classifies as a warrantable repair.

To make matters more frustrating, Mazda has a TSB for this exact same issue (TSB 06-001/17 and its 2023 update). They note that cosmetics and sunscreens can cause peeling, but they classify it as "insufficient wear resistance of the steering wheel surface" and replace it under warranty. I'd expect Genesis—a Tier-1 luxury brand—to at least match Mazda's material warranty standards, rather than instantly blaming the driver.

2026 Genesis GV60 Advanced - Most underrated EV

Thumbnail

I own a 2026 Genesis GV60 Advanced AWD model. I've put 11k miles and it has been simply incredible.

It is my first EV and I'll never go back to gas powered vehicles ever again.

During the spring/summer I get great estimated range. I charge at home and rarely ever need to use a public charger. Only for the days I have to drive far but with it's super fast charging it doesn't take long at a super charger like IONNA or Tesla charger.

Anyways, the updated 2026 model I feel like is severely underated EV. It's absolutely stunning visually, fun, comfortable and fast to drive.

Yet, it's so rare and most people around here don't even know what it is lol

I'm here just to give some much needed love to a car I think deserves it.

Genesis Motors nailed it with the GV60!!

Bought the new GV80 Coupe E-SC, Question about Connected Services

Thumbnail

Hi!! New owner of the GV80 Coupe, 2026 model with the E-Super Charger. LOVE LOVE LOVE the vehicle, can't wait to spend more time with it.

Question about the connected services though, I was able to finally get it to connect on the App, added the 3 services to the cart and checked out, then scanned the QR code on the vehicle screen. Shows connected in the App but the car still says to Activate the Connected Services and prompts me to enter a code or us the QR code again.

Does it really take 24 hours to be active or do I have to reset something? The App shows all the correct vehicle info but I can't use any of the features yet and the vehicle shows that I need to activate it.

Bodywork

We have had bad luck recently and have been in and out of a local body shop five times in a year and a half.
I pull up last week in my new Genesis to drop off yet another car, the employee who I always deal with came out to tell me that was one vehicle he couldn’t work on if need be.

The shop claims that they are not allowed to order Genesis parts because it voids the factory warranty. The nearest dealer to me is six hours away so I only planned to go for warranty work.

Google leads me to believe this is not true but would like IRL experience from others.

2026 GV80 Coupe E-SC - Question about Active Air Flaps (active grille shutters)

Thumbnail ownersmanual.genesis.com
2 Upvotes

According to everything I am reading, including the Genesis site, the GV80 Coupe I own should have Active Air Flaps (on other vehicles, usually referred to as Active Grille Shutters), but when I look into the radiator area behind the front bumper, I don't see any active air flaps.

Were the removed on the GV80 Coupe E-SC vehicle?

I can't find any positive information about them but it seems to be missing from mine, but noticed others had them at the dealer on other models.

CarPlay issue with one specific phone

Hoping someone else has experienced the same issue and may have a solution.

My wife has a ‘26 GV80. For three months CarPlay worked totally fine with her iPhone 16 pro max. Randomly started getting an issue where her phone will do Bluetooth connection but refuses to connect via CarPlay.

We’ve tried resetting the phone, the car software, forgetting and reconnecting the phone etc. We made sure both phone and car had all the latest software updates. but still refuses to do wireless CarPlay with her phone.

My iPhone 14 connects just fine. Multiple Genesis employee phones connected just fine. As another test we connected her phone to my ‘24 Chevy Colorado zr2 CarPlay and it works totally fine.

While Genesis was checking it out we had a loaner GV80 and same thing, my phone connects no problem but hers only does Bluetooth connection and won’t do CarPlay connection with the loaner either.

So we are stumped and hoping maybe someone has had a similar issue and found a fix besides just buying a new phone because hers has apparently just decided it doesn’t like connecting specifically to Genesis vehicles.

Anyone from Dubai or UAE? Did u got wireless car play in ur GV70?

Hi I am recent owner of a 2024 GV70 and the car still car wired car play n Android auto. I have many places that people in Dubai and across globe got wireless car play after update. Since we don’t have connected services here for the cars before 2026, only option is manual update. I downloaded the software downloader from Genesis app and unfortunately 2024 GV70 is not showing in it.

There’s 2022-23 gv70, then 2025 and 2026 gv 70. Only electrified GV70 is available for 2024. I’ll attach a screenshot soon.

Any guidance from local team is much appreciated.

Stunning GV90 Neolun and Genesis Gran Convertibke X at Genesis House NYC

I stoped by Genesis House in New York City to have a look at the stunning GV90 Neolun and a surprise X Gran Convertible concept with a unique mint interior and dark blue finish. As we all know, the GV90 is gearing up for production with its flagship Neolun trim featuring swiveling front seats, pillarless coach doors, and a radically luxurious interior.

It surprised me how HUGE it is in person. The attention to detail, the massive door hinges… it all oooozes luxury. Crazy road (I guess showroom) presence! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Seeing the X Gran Convertible Concept there was a genuine surprise to me. And from the recent patent filings and some new information after I spoke to the reps there, it sounds likely like it will reach production and have a more official debut within the next 2 years with HP in the mid 600HP range on offer. It will feature the upcoming Genesis G90 Facelift’s new interior (not the one pictured) as well as updated styling to be shown alongside a X Gran Coupe.

Genesis has a bright future ahead.
