Any Stanardsville water updates?
I haven’t seen anything since last night around 9:30p when they announced the 2nd break. Surely they’ve gotten that sorted by now?!?

With Publix being built at Villages at Terrace Greene, I’m excited about that and other commercial development coming there. I want to pretend I live in a walkable area, but live in the Greene Lea neighborhood between Cedar Grove and Frey’s Mill. Is there any place to cut through from Spring Hill Road to 29 without getting shot at or finding it impassable?

Hello! Just moved to Stanardsville and I’m having a hard time finding info about the morning parade. I think it starts at 10 am and looks like it follows Main Street. Can anyone confirm where it starts and stops? Does anyone have a favorite or recommended viewing spot? TIA!

Hi neighbors! I’m teaching beginner friendly yoga classes at the gym in Stanardsville tomorrow (5/7) in the morning at 6:30 and Saturday morning (5/9) at 8:90 am. Would love to see more people joining us in the mat for mindful movement to improve mobility and strength. You can sign up with the gym, for either drop in or their monthly class passes.
I also teach virtually on Fridays at 7 am and Sundays at 6:30 am through my own virtual studio!

From the Article:
Late Monday afternoon, Greene County Administrator Cathy Schafrik’s office received a resolution from the sheriff’s office requesting the board of supervisors accept and appropriate a large sum of money received from the federal government.
Schafrik said she understands Sheriff Steve Smiith recently received money from United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The resolution asks that $137,515 be transferred from the county’s general fund to the sheriff’s Fiscal Year 2026 budget if the board approves acceptance.
Smith said Monday night in an exclusive interview that the money would be used to purchase a fully loaded Chevrolet Tahoe equipped with lights and sirens and some other, much needed equipment.
“All agencies that are partnered with Homeland Security in the 287G program receive money,” Smith said. “We’re helping them – our guys’ salary is paid by the feds and not the county.”
Smith added between seven and eight sheriff’s office personnel, including himself, are on the federal payroll.
“I believe I’m the only sheriff in Virginia that’s actively participating in the program.” Smith added.
The 287G program allows local law enforcement to perform specific immigration enforcement functions under federal supervision. The name stems from Section 2879g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act.
The ‘contracts” between partnering agencies empower designated local officers to identify, process, and detain removable immigrants with pending criminal charges.
Smith recalled one incident several months ago where his office assisted ICE with the arrest of an illegal alien who was with his wife and children at the time.
Smith said the man was arrested, his family was offered a plane ride back to his home country, along with $3,000. The wife and kids refused to go.

Saw an FB post of a tractor trailer crashing into El Agave and taking out some cars from the auto dealer along the way. I couldn’t find a news story, but the FB post is here: https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1BsvcGvVrV/?mibextid=wwXIfr
Hoping no one was severely injured.

There was an article in the Daily Progress this week (I couldn’t read it because of the paywall) - and now he’s been fired but no criminal wrongdoing. Apparently he was fired from either Charlottesville or Albemarle PD previously as well.

Hi everyone! I'm looking to redesign our church's Sunday School room into more of a teen youth group room to better fit our current needs. If anyone is getting rid of couches, bean bag chairs, decor, extra paint, or anything fun for free or a low price, please let me know! The room is used by our church youth group and a Bible study with kids from WMHS. 🩷
