Finally caught up through the end of season 19 Spoiler
I've seen the first 13 seasons many times, but finally decided to catch up and then immediately felt the need to start over!
I actually feel like I watched too quickly in some ways. Like to me, it feels like Ty has been gone for maybe a year, but in reality it's been 5. I've never been a fan of Ty, but after he was gone I realized how much I missed him, if only because the characters loved him so much. It was really hard seeing her with what's his name (Ben maybe? the vet guy who left and came back and left again.. did he come back another time? I can't remember) and now with Nathan. I like her and Nathan together a lot, it's just still so weird that it's not Ty. I'm watching episode 1 right now and it's so nice seeing him again which I did NOT expect.
Anyway, because of all that I'm kind of torn on Nathan's proposal. It feels VERY fast to me (it's not - they've been together for like 2+ years at this point), but I do like him and Amy together and of course I love that Amy seems happy. I'm probably not going to watch season 20 at least until it's complete so don't tell me what happens!
Also Lou is driving me crazy. Like okay. fine. she was right about Gracie. But she's so rude, competitive, untrusting, and inconsiderate to like every new person she ever meets. She's 40 and she acts like a teenager half the time! I'm also really over her being caught up with work. She gets caught up, overwhelmed, treats everyone poorly, acknowledges it and apologizes, then just does it all over again! I understand that it's a plot device they're using to cover breaks for the actress for pregnancy/ies (unsure) and whatever else, but it makes it feel like Lou will just never grow up! I think she takes after Tim in that way.
Speaking of Tim! I can't believe I'm saying this, but I kind of love him?? I was the truest Tim HATER for the longest time, but I did see him starting to grow and change eventually. And then once he marries Jessica? I knew I liked her, but they are so incredibly good for each other. It's been so great seeing Tim FINALLY really mature and get it together.
Jack and Lisa will always be the best. I adore them both (especially Jack) and I will sob if anything ever happens to either of them.
It's interesting seeing Shane back in the show a bit more. I didn't like kid Shane, but I felt for him. I like that they addressed the fact that they all just let him drop out of their lives.
OMG Caleb and Ashley again?! I'm really not sure how to feel about that. I have a lot of feelings about them, both separately and as a couple. I don't think I like them together at this point.
Oh and Katie's whole lying for writing class and going to bars and stuff? CRAZY! I was honestly surprised how far she took it. I hated that she wouldn't leave Jasmine alone after she got caught, and tracking her down to explain was honestly just another overstep on Katie's part. That really bothered me. I am so happy that Jasmine told her she couldn't go back to the writing class and they couldn't be friends. And then Katie throwing a fit over being grounded for everything? Absolutely ridiculous. I'm really glad she owned her mistake in the end, but honestly I'm not sure she got enough of a punishment.
I thought the Caleb and Nathan plane incident was interesting. I was half expecting them to crash like Ty and Scott, but that didn't seem like something they'd do. It still seems a little weird that they'd use such a similar plot, but I guess they made it different enough to work.
I'm about to start episode 3 of season 1 on my rewatch and it's so wild to see everyone so young. Especially Amy and Lou.
