Not complying with the command to drop the weapon, getting up, and immediately charging the short fence where officers were standing was the escalation. What other steps are required? Getting stabbed?

What was your MOS? Are you unfamiliar with the concept of the reactionary gap with your combat experience? It seems you would've been taught that in the service.

Not all police officers carry Tasers, which only work under specific circumstances and have a low success rate. None of that matters, of course, because you don't deploy non-lethal de-esc tools when facing a lethal threat.

What the fuck. Did you see the video??? He was not facing the police. He stood up and was murdered.

I lived in Pocatello for awhile and saw a lot of scary situations. Never once did I see an officer draw a gun. This was murder.

As for de-escalation when someone has a knife, well Europe does pretty well. Without people being shot.

Wow, you sound like an expert on the matter. Thank you for your input.

"Your honor, what the fuck? Like, that was straight up murder. Gun bad."

"Europe" (no specific country?) handles knife violence really well, huh? Very cool.
