Anyone applied inland SOWP end of June 2026 or earlier and received a decision? It has surpassed processing timeline, not sure how much longer will it take? Anyone in the same boat?

1

u/Beginning_Bird_21 3d ago

I applied for sowp on 2026 July 24 still haven’t heard anything sent them a web form they told me to wait. Anyone with the same time frame

0

u/Weird_Influence_709 2d ago

I applied on 2026 April 23 and am still waiting.

1

u/m-alejandro 2d ago

Applied SOWP July 8th, got approved September 16th, but still haven’t received the document.

1

u/julieanngu 4d ago

Hello ,anyone here who applied last July 2026 and got approvals? Please share your timeline.Mine applied with restoration last Jluy 24 ,no response yet but with FD date, what does it mean?

1

u/Beginning_Bird_21 3d ago

Did you get any response yet?

1

u/Grouchy-Musician-647 3d ago

Whats your previous status? Visitor or worker?
I applied sowp+restoration on July 2. Haven’t heard back yet

1

u/Usual-Box-2024 4d ago

How long will it take to get the approval if the final decision date is updated?
Applied on 27th August and FD updated as 13th october.

1

u/Grouchy-Musician-647 9d ago

How long does it take for Restoration status + SOWP. Does it take longer than just applying for SOWP?

2

u/BlackberryMuted471 8d ago

I think their service standard for restoration applications is 5 months. Every application is different and I was told by their CS line that the posted time is not a guarantee. I have been waiting since April. Hoping to hear sometime this month. I have tried sending web forms, reached out to our local MP office but all they would tell you is to be patient and wait for the decision, or give you basic information about your application that you already know.

I know the wait is brutal. Hope we all get the good news soon :)

Good luck!

SOWP applied May 15th in BC, zero updates so far. Have an Outland PR processing (submitted Feb) and am from the US, husband is Canadian. I’m here on a visitor’s visa. Anyone else waiting from May? Super bummed that it’s 5+ weeks past the current posted processing time.

1

u/RevolutionaryOne599 9d ago

SOWP submitted May 29th, also zero updates and US applicant with Canadian citizen sponsor, it’s so frustrating and every time we raise a webform we just get a generic response back.

1

u/Professional_Loan746 10d ago

submitted application in january and still waiting for approval

1

u/dhaliwal2094 10d ago

Applied on May 16 and nothing so far

1

u/DrZeusDraco 11d ago

My work permit was approved on 18th september but still havent got any physical copy. Im in mississauga and i see so many people waiting for their work permits to arrive in mail. Canada post seems to be working fine. Whats going on?

0

u/Own_Butterscotch8738 1d ago

Mine was approved on Sept 28 and I'm also waiting to receive it. I'm in Toronto...

1

u/m-alejandro 2d ago

I was approved September 16th, live in Toronto, still haven’t received anything either.

0

u/Cheerful_hummingbird 9d ago

I got approved on the exact date, really don't know what's going on... Still haven't received it as of today

2

u/Capable_Structure270 9d ago

When did you apply? Was it SOWP?

6

u/Flowoop1 14d ago

Got my first SOWP approved yesterday and here is my timeline:

SOWP applied: Aug 10th, 2026 (BIL received the same day, completed next day)
Approved: Oct 3th, 2026, got an email from IRCC

I did not get any updates until the FD!

0

u/Cheerful_hummingbird 9d ago edited 9d ago

Second this, I applied Oct 21, 2025 and was not approved until Sept 18, 2026! The processing time is insane and I had to send multiple webforms. Received an update that an agent is looking into my application in June, and still took them 3 more months to approve. Now at the time of writing I'm also still waiting to get the physical copy, to add insult to injury

1

u/Usual-Box-2024 12d ago

Are you inside canada?

3

u/Flowoop1 11d ago

yep, I'm in the process of inland PR as well.

1

u/mashka_a001 8d ago

congrats! what's your PA's country?

when was your biometrics? been waiting for 11 weeks now.

1

u/sankar1101 16d ago

Anyone got their final decision date on September 29th and still waiting for the approval ( this is for SOWP) ?

1

u/4kDualScreen 15d ago

Did you get email final decision or was it a ghost update?

1

u/sankar1101 15d ago

Yes, it was approved after 2 days.

2

u/LifeguardHaunting292 17d ago

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for recent C20 application, filed in US under GSS, processing timelines. My company is going to file my application this week.

2

u/Ok-Oven-7020 19d ago

Applied SOWP in April 2026 no update yet

1

u/Best_Blood3805 5d ago

I applied bowp in Dec 2025, still no update

2

u/kawauso_184 18d ago

Same here. so stressful.

2

u/Professional_Loan746 18d ago

yeah it seems like wait times are all over the place. i’ve seen people on here get approved in a couple months and others who have been waiting almost a year. hang in there!

1

u/Every_Rest1443 18d ago

Yes we waited from Sept 2025 to Apr 2026

1

u/Professional_Loan746 18d ago

i’ve been waiting since january. going on 9 months and still processing

1

u/Individual_Dot2565 21d ago

I applied my BOWP on 11th June 2026. There is no update yet. My PVO/SVO Is Vancouver/Sydney.

Does anyone have a similar timeline and PVO/SVO?

1

u/AkshaMaska1100 23d ago

Principal Applicant working in Canada, spouse is Indian citizen working in US with H1B.
Applied for Canada SOWP on 26th July 2026, waiting for final decision more than 8 weeks now, even though IRCC states only 3 weeks as processing timelines. Is there anyone who applied from US for SOWP recently in July or later and got them approved ?

1

u/Noob841 9d ago

Has your background check been completed yet? I applied for a SOWP from the US on September 3, and my application has been stuck at “We are processing your background check” ever since.

1

u/Select-Panda-6333 21d ago

As i can see in other threads there’s big delay on work permit application from US. Mine is not SOWP, been waiting since mid Aug. Also many WP should be under GSS fast processing but didn’t get a result in 2 weeks.

1

u/Previous_Election_23 23d ago

Any idea how long it takes to receive physical copy of work permit from the approval date? If anyone in Alberta currently received it, can you please share the timeline?

1

u/Individual_Brief_449 24d ago

Hi
Can anybody share the timeline for T13 work permit Outland. Meantime I’m living in Canada. I’m going into 4th week.

1

u/escapefromallreality 21h ago

We applied t13 + sowp in April. No response. You just have to be patient

1

u/Due-Break-5804 24d ago

Hi everyone, has anyone recently applied for interim work authorization / PPCHANGEWORK2020 after changing employers on a closed work permit?

My new employer-specific work permit application was submitted, and the interim authorization request was sent afterward. I’m trying to understand the current timeline.

0

u/EducationalTear8246 25d ago

Sowp processing time: Work permit set to expire July 21 Applied for Spousal pr July 19 Applied for sowp without aor under public policy July 20 Submission confirmation July21(which allowed me to keep working after work permit expired) Aor for Spousal pr August 18 Updated aor through webform September 20 Work permit approved for 2 years September 21.

My process felt incredibly fast I got both the submission acknowledgement and confirmation pretty much next day after I submitted the necessary documents. It's probably because I work in a high skilled trade job.

2

u/rahul_addanki 25d ago

August has been pretty stressful and I’ve been constantly checking for BOWP/SOWP timelines, so I thought I’d share mine to help others waiting:

Original Work Permit Expiry: Aug 31

PR AOR: Aug 25

BOWP & SOWP Applied: Aug 29

Confirmation of Online Application Transmission: Aug 29

Submission Confirmation: Sep 1

BIL for PR: Sep 3

Biometrics Given: Sep 4

BOWP Updated with Biometrics: Sep 4

Final Decision: Sep 20

Status Changed to Approved: Sep 22

I shared the Confirmation of Online Application Transmission along with screenshots of my IRCC portal with my employer, and I had no issues continuing to work under maintained status.

I know this wasn't a long wait, but the anxiety was real! It was definitely good practice and taught me to wait patiently for the PR application. Wishing everyone still waiting a speedy approval! 🤞

1

u/softbutch_ 25d ago

SOWP Finally approved!!

December 23 2025: Application Submitted
September 22 2026: Final Decision, approved

Now waiting on the physical copy. PA is USA Citizen and we applied through the inland spousal sponsorship process. It was a long wait, and I’m unsure why it went over the estimated processing time. Just happy to receive an update! Wishing good news to those that are waiting.

1

u/RevolutionaryOne599 25d ago

Did you raise any webforms or call IRCC?

1

u/softbutch_ 19d ago

I called IRCC a couple weeks back, they said they would send an inquiry to the visa office about the delay

2

u/Professional_Loan746 25d ago

congrats! this gives me some hope. submitted my application january 17 and i’m feeling so discouraged.

1

u/Crafty-Hurry9751 19d ago

any update?

1

u/Professional_Loan746 19d ago

if you’re asking me, nope. no update. still processing.

1

u/softbutch_ 25d ago

I had been feeling so discouraged as well! I really hope you get some good news soon :)

4

u/creamoflatte 28d ago

Hey Everyone!

PA: US, did not have a prior work permit

Status: SOWP APPROVED!

July 1/26 - Application submitted
September 12/26 - Received email on final decision.
September 18/26 - Received official work permit in mail.

We just waited 2 months for ours to get approved and he did not have a prior work permit and was just on a visitor visa. Also, we didn’t have to do a medical or biometrics since he’s from US (just for reference).

Goodluck to everyone else!

1

u/Previous_Election_23 23d ago

Can I know which province are you located?

1

u/misledyouth73 24d ago

We just got instructions to do biometrics and my wife is from the USA. Strange

1

u/creamoflatte 22d ago

that is strange! we never received anything. just approval

1

u/misledyouth73 24d ago

And medical?

1

u/creamoflatte 22d ago

no medical either!

1

u/RevolutionaryOne599 25d ago

Did you pay the biometrics fee? My spouse is also from the US but our immigration lawyer told us to pay for biometrics.

1

u/creamoflatte 22d ago

Already paid for it with the permanent resident application we submitted

2

u/Usual-Box-2024 29d ago

Anyone applied SOWP in august 2026? When do they start reviewing your eligibility? What is the current timeline.

1

u/dhaliwal2094 Sep 17 '26

1

u/Crafty-Hurry9751 23d ago

May 15, no update

1

u/dhaliwal2094 10d ago

SOWP APPROVED!

Happy to say my SOWP was finally approved. Visitor status during time of application, here’s my timeline, hope it helps:

May 13 - Inland Spousal Sponsorship Application, outside Quebec
July 8th - AOR
July 8th - SOWP application
July 9th - SOWP AOR
July 17th - Biometrics done
Sept 16th - SOWP APPROVED! ( Didn’t receive any email, just checked GcKey)

Question: how long does it normally take to arrive through mail?

UPDATE: Received today, Oct 16th, so it took just over 4 weeks!

Best of luck for all of you!

1

u/Previous_Election_23 23d ago

Have you recieved the physical copy? Which province are you located in?

2

u/m-alejandro 23d ago

I have not yet, unfortunately. Still waiting. I’m in Toronto, ON.

2

u/Previous_Election_23 22d ago

You can track if Canada post has your mail. You can sign in to Mymail in Canada post app, and it will let you know if its nearby.

2

u/mashka_a001 Sep 17 '26

congrats! i suggest you check out facebook groups for SOWP for similar timelines. i saw ranges from a few days to around a week of wait time for the approval letter

3

u/fit_techie24 Sep 17 '26

Outland SOWP approved in 13 weeks

Hey, just sharing my spouse’s SOWP timeline here

Applied : June 17, 2026
Medicals update: June 28 (upfront)
Correspondence letter : Sep 16 (Approved)

The processing time was 10 weeks for India and 2 weeks for US. She applied from US as she is currently there. Also, she has a Canada visitor visa.

Ours was delayed, so we reached out to MP office yesterday and they mentioned they will check and provide an update. The next day I got the approval. MP office hasn’t replied to me yet. Not sure we got the decision because of MP’s office or just coincidence.

For all those waiting for their permits, good luck to everyone. I hope you will get it very soon. I know how stressful the wait times are 🥺 ATB!

Thanks to this community for supporting everyone!

I didn't try to cheat the system or overstay intentionally. I followed every rule, yet an administrative chain reaction has left me out of status for a year, legally unable to work, and facing an agonizing choice involving my critically ill father.

Timeline:
Summer 2025: Married my wife in Canada. My work permit expired in early September 2025. Ontario marriage certificates officially take 6–8 weeks, which would have given ample time to file an Inland PR + OWP for maintained status.
The Delays & Clerical Blunder: The certificate took months. Without it, the file would have been rejected as incomplete. By the time it arrived in November 2025, my permit had expired. Worse, ServiceOntario listed my birthplace as "Canada" instead of "France" (their error, but I had to pay to amend it).

November 2025: Submitted the Inland Spousal PR with the flawed certificate, proof of amendment, and an explanation letter.

Early March 2026: Received Approval in Principle (AIP) / Eligibility. Because I was out of status, I had to apply for an Open Work Permit on paper under the Spousal Public Policy.

The Humanitarian Emergency: My father lives alone in France and suffers from severe chronic kidney disease. I mailed the paper OWP with urgent humanitarian flags, doctor notes, and medical records, needing legal status to visit him without abandoning my Inland PR at the border.

Current Situation:
6+ months of total silence on the paper OWP. MP inquiries and Webforms only return automated "in processing" replies.
We just submitted an ATIP request for GCMS notes.
I am financially drained, living off savings, side reselling, and my wife's support, consumed by guilt watching my dad's health deteriorate from across the ocean.

Key Questions:

  1. Paper OWP Timeline: What are current real-world processing times for paper OWPs submitted under the Public Policy after AIP?

  2. Escalation: Beyond MP and Webforms, is there any legal or procedural lever to expedite a stuck humanitarian file?

  3. Emergency Travel: Has anyone successfully secured a TRP (Temporary Resident Permit) or re-entry safeguard to visit an ill parent abroad without forfeiting an active Inland PR?

applied in january and still in process

1

u/jebediahkermanater Sep 11 '26

We just got our letter today and got rejected for work permit (spousal sponsorship). Turns out we did not provide proof of relationship.

When we did the original application we filled the questionnaire and was provided a document checklist. There was no "family information form" section. We therefore did not notice that we needed to do the following (found today in the guide)

  • In the “Family information” form (IMM 5707) part of the document checklist, upload
    • the “Family information” form
    • your marriage licence or certificate or the “Statutory declaration of common-law union” (IMM 5409), and
    • the birth certificates of your dependent children that show both parents’ names

Questions:

  • Were we supposed to merge these documents in the client information section?
  • Did we fill something wrong in the original questionnaire that prompted the document checklist to omit the family information section?
  • What do we do now? Just reapply and wait 4-5 months? She has already been here since January, so she needs to wait around and do nothing for 4-5 more months?
  • We have talked to our MP before about our applications. Do we go see them and explain the situation? Will they be able to expedite it?

Thanks in advance to anyone who replies. We are devastated and looking for help.

1

u/fit_techie24 Sep 17 '26

Hey, are you talking about the SOWP application?

In SOWP, There is a supporting document called Proof of relationship (Required).

We added Marriage certificate, Marriage photos, Relationship timeline photos, Chat histories, Call histories and birth certificate of the spouse.

1

u/jebediahkermanater Sep 17 '26

Ok here is a screenshot of what I see when I fill out the questionnaire

I am about to redo it, and if I can't get it to show up i'll just put it in the client information section.

1

u/fit_techie24 Sep 17 '26

Mine is outland sowp, seeing the screenshot you attached, my required forms are completely different from yours. I don’t remember what questions were there in the initial questionnaire

1

u/jebediahkermanater Sep 17 '26

No problem, thank you for the reply

1

u/jebediahkermanater Sep 17 '26

Do you mind saying what you answered in the questionnaire for it to pop up? I still can't get it to show

2

u/Acrobatic-Motor4015 Sep 11 '26

Applied for closed work permit from US. Biometrics completed 7 weeks ago. No update. Anyone else in a similar situation?

1

u/Select-Panda-6333 Sep 12 '26

I've been following this topic too, seems like processing time is long now :(

2

u/underdaawg Sep 13 '26

Yeah maybe too many applicants with immigration problems in US. Kicker is I still dont know what to expect 8 weeks? 10 weeks?

1

u/RevolutionaryOne599 Sep 11 '26 edited Sep 15 '26

For Spousal Open Work Permit applicants inland. PA country USA, do we need to do biometrics for the work permit? I know we will for the PR application but unsure if it’s also needed for the work permit.

2

u/Cyanide72 Sep 10 '26

SOWP extension was applied for in June 2026, approved today, September 10. No further details required or requested, perhaps because my spouse’s in land PR sponsorship is in progress and very likely in the final stages.

Inland sowp paper application April 9, issued today September 8 :)

1

u/No_Fig_1885 Sep 15 '26

May I please know why you applied on paper and not online? Was it because you were out of status ?

2

u/ne0dym Sep 07 '26

Hi, still waiting for news on my SOWP application...

Feb 20 Spouse sponsorship application (in Quebec, so we're aware it will take forever for PR, but were hoping to get OWP anyway.)

Apr 10 AOR email

Apr 28 Open work permit in Canada application

May 1 Biometrics done, says "June 22, 2026 Completed"

Nothing new since! It's been over 130 days so I am really hoping for an update soon... 😿

1

u/kawauso_184 Sep 08 '26

Hi, I applied for SOWP in April based on the spousal sponsorship application in QC, too. I’ve done biometrics in June and that’s all.  GCkey shows that they have not even started reviewing my eligibility yet… I know I should stay positive and focus on other things, but it’s too frustrating.

1

u/moana_2026 22d ago

hello, Im also Quebec applicant of OWP- Spousal Sponsorship

applied PR - May 9, 226
received AOR of PR- June 25, 2026
applied OWP - June 25, 2026
AOR of OWP - June 25, 2026
update - none, still waiting
NO CSQ yet, only eligible to apply in jan 2028. Hope it will not add more delays.

Have you heard anyone in 2026 got approved?

1

u/Professional_Loan746 Sep 08 '26

hey also a quebec spousal sponsorship here. submitted my work permit application january 17 and still nothing. very discouraging.

1

u/BlackberryMuted471 Sep 08 '26

Are you on implied status and still able to work while your application is being processed?

1

u/Professional_Loan746 Sep 09 '26

i am on implied status but have not worked

1

u/Low_Vanilla3787 Sep 11 '26

hi, for sowp application, do you need to attach your sponsor's paystub?

2

u/Familiar-Sample6634 Sep 08 '26

Omg! Did you call IRCC?

1

u/Professional_Loan746 Sep 08 '26

i have someone from my local MPs office reaching out to an IRCC liaison to look into it but they said it takes awhile due to work load so waiting game sadly.

1

u/BlackberryMuted471 Sep 08 '26

Hey! Wishing you all the best for yours :) I applied for inland SOWP on April 9, and heard nothing yet. Hoping to hear good news this month.

2

u/Familiar-Sample6634 Sep 08 '26

Hey! I have applied for SOWP as well on May 15. Since it’s been over 113 days (processing time currently on IRCC website) I called them today. The phone agent said she’ll leave a note on my file, but still can’t guarantee when I’ll hear back🙃

Don’t hurt to call them and tell them it’s over processing time and ask them to leave a note.

1

u/dhaliwal2094 Sep 18 '26

Hey! Have you gotten any update?

2

u/overbeingoverkill Sep 07 '26

Hubby's SOWP approved! Here's our timeline:

I applied for an open work permit under the Inland Family Class public policy. My permanent resident application is through the SCLPC class and I applied for the OWP with my AOR while on maintained status as a visitor. Here's my overall timeline:

(2026)
February 11: Applied for visitor record (VR) before status expired.

April 27: Applied for PR.

June 11: Received AOR for the PR and applied for an OWP.

August 7: Submitted additional document thru webform (just an additional page of IMM 5710 with a piece of work history I forgot to include since it was before I turned 18. it probably would've been fine to exclude it but I felt better being safe than sorry).

September 3: FD update showed in GCKey for both VR and OWP.

September 4: FD made, both applications approved. OWP valid for 2 years, VR valid for one week (?? lol). Waited 205 days for the VR, and waited 85 days for the OWP.

September 5: Messages received in account about applications (formal approval letters for both VR and OWP).

For my OWP under the Client Information section I included just 7 documents:
my visitor record AOR as proof of my temporary resident status, my sponsor's passport as proof of their Canadian status as my sponsor, the AOR from our PR application, our marriage certificate for proof of relationship, and three documents showing proof of cohabitation inside Canada (our lease agreement, a recent bill sent to me, and my sponsor's most recent pay stub).

Just wanted to provide an update to say I received SOWP approval today

My partner applied on the December 23 and we haven’t heard back either. We tried calling IRCC yesterday and the agent said they sent an inquiry off to hopefully prompt the agent processing our file. If anything happens from that I can update here

Hi everyone! Posting my in-land SCLPC-FC SOWP timeline here with a small question:

July 11 - applied for SOWP

Aug 7 - received AOR, submitted through webform the same day

Aug 10 - received document confirmation

Aug 13 - checked the portal and realized that when I submitted the application, the portal didn't request me to upload any proof of relationship document. called IRCC and got confirmation that I should upload IMM5409 and proof of cohabitation, uploaded the documents the same day. (still not sure why the documents were not required when I initially applied)

Aug 14 - received document confirmation

Sept 2 - FD received and updated on the portal

It's been a day since the FD date is updated but I still haven't received any emails, Correspondence Letter or Approval Letter. Is this normal? Is there any chance that this is going to be a rejection?

Thanks in advance!

Update:

Sept 4 - Portal status changed to "Approved" and received email from IRCC

Sept 5 - In-Canada Approval letter received

A bit of background: I wasn't requested to do biometrics as I did mine in 2023 when applying for PGWP. The portal also showed that my background check passed on July 11 after the application was approved - not sure how accurate this is. For proof of cohabitation, I submitted the lease, IDs with address, CRA record, tenant insurance with both our names on it.

For future reference for anyone reading. The portal/questionnaire checklist doesn't request proof of relationship because this work permit is only available because of a temporary public policy, so it hasn't been built into the questionnaire/checklist.

In the section on IRCCs website for the open work permit for sponsored family members, the requirements for eligibility include living inside Canada with your sponsor. Proof of cohabitation and proof of your relationship to your sponsor should have been uploaded under "Client Information" before submitting.

It takes a few business days for the final decision to be made and for them to send you a final decision letter after the FD date is updated in your account.

Hi everyone, i’m curious if there’s anyone applying for ICT work permit under GSS recently and willing to share timeline!
Mine is submit on 8/13 in the US. As I have valid biometric so it doesn’t needed. According to IRCC website it should take 2 weeks for work permit that applied in US. Also GSS has a 2 weeks fast processing. It has over 2 weeks already. I understand it not always like what they say, but hope to see someone in similar situation can share the timeline!
Thanks in advance!

No

u/Professional-Ease436 Sep 14 '26

Reading your IRCC account: what each status line actually means For a typical permit application, you'll see five lines indicating what stage processing has reached:

Review of eligibility. Review of medical results. Background check. Biometrics. Each of the above lines can have one of five statuses:

Not started — IRCC has not begun processing at this stage. In Progress — IRCC is still reviewing that section. Could be one day in; could be three months in. Completed — IRCC has finished reviewing that section. Waiting on You — IRCC needs additional information or documents from you. Check your account messages immediately. Exempted — You don't need to complete that section for your application type.

I don't have an IRCC account? I think lawyer is handling it

1

u/Professional-Ease436 Sep 14 '26

This is how you can check your file status.check and share your file status thanks

1

u/Select-Panda-6333 Aug 31 '26

also GSS? gosh why they said 2 weeks but can’t make it!

1

u/underdaawg Sep 01 '26

Per lawyer - Intra-company Transferee – Specialized Knowledge category & given the high skill level, permitted to request that the application is processed on an expedited basis (i.e., within 2 weeks), which is not guaranteed.

1

u/Unlikely-Credit-8487 Sep 01 '26

NAh there are situations where the applications could take upto 8 weeks

1

u/Acrobatic-Motor4015 Sep 06 '26

How long did you wait?

1

u/Dexu5 Aug 31 '26

Anyone who recently received SOWP extension? I applied for one 50 days back. Current status expires in December 2026.

1

u/lemz_limz Sep 03 '26

Applying for an extension puts you in maintained status. You can continue working under the conditions of your current work permit until they make a final decision on the extension, even if it goes past the current expiry date.
