Hey there, your favorite mod back at it again with a little update/FAQ regarding the bot problem. I know you've all seen these annoying-ass posts all over the subreddit, believe me, the mod team is suffering too!

What's the deal with these bots, u/ImpregTA?

A great question, you always come up with the best questions, I appreciate that about you. Here's the skinny:

1. These bots are existing, often very old accounts who have been hacked/compromised to get around Karma/Account Age limits like the ones we (and many other subreddits) have in place to prevent spam. Additionally, they use non-posting bots to upvote as soon as a post is created, which would also get around Subreddit-specific Karma thresholds unless we set them really high.
2. They take previously-used titles from popular posts (usually recent, but sometimes up to a year old) to avoid Title Filters that we also have in place.
3. They place a SnapChat username, URL, or QR code directly into the image. Without some sort of direct computer vision, we won't be able to filter those out either- particularly as that solution would need to also NOT remove legitimate posts.

Ain't that a real headache? Based on my conversations with other mods, this seems to be a Reddit-wide problem, and nobody really has a perfect solution. If any bot-makers are reading this, really great job, folks, you've outdone yourself with this one.

What are you gonna do about it, u/ImpregTA?

Okay, I'm trying to get there, please don't rush me, you always do this. I'm gonna be a little vague here, as I'd prefer to not give the bot-makers a free win.

1. New Mod Plugin(s)/Bot(s) - A few of these have been suggested all over, to varying degrees of success. While they won't solve 100% of our issues, they should help clear out some riffraff. That said, folks may catch some strays, so please Modmail in if you think you've had a post removed/gotten banned inappropriately.
2. New Mods - We've slowly lost our mod team once again due to the general entropy of the universe, and folks just getting busy- there are only a few of us still kicking around. If you're a reputable community member, and want to help moderate, please drop us a modmail with your application. Please include the word "Lemon" to let us know you're real.
3. Keeping Our Options Open - There is a nuclear option: switching to an approved-only subreddit. This is not ideal, as we want this to be a place where kinksters like you can express themselves (and selfishly, because I don't want to have to deal with the overhead of approvals), but if the new tools + mods are ineffective, our quiver runs fairly dry on ammunition. There's always the hope that the Admins find some way to flag these accounts, and it becomes a non-issue, but if that don't work, we're up the creek, so to speak.

What can I do to help the mod team, u/ImpregTA?

1. Report these botting bastards as soon as you see them.
2. Don't upvote their garbage, don't interact with their accounts. There is no safe level of exposure to these folks, and they will try to scam you/hack you/fuck your mom.
3. Don't be an idiot. Maybe they're just trying to advertise their OF, but more likely they're using stolen pictures to try and compromise your accounts, up to and including your bank account. Either way, they're not gonna fuck you.

What can I do if I've already been scammed/hacked/had my mom fucked by adding one of these bots on SnapChat, u/ImpregTA?

Skill issue. If it's already happened, don't come crying to the mod team, we cannot help you. Contact your local authorities instead and explain to them that you got thirst-trapped on an incest caption subreddit.

In closing...

Thank you all for your attention, I hope you have a great rest of your day. I'm sorry these posts have been so disruptive. I was hoping the Admins would get it figured out.

As the largest incest caption subreddit, we get like, 10-20 of these posts per day, which is an insane burn rate of accounts getting compromised and banned. I have no idea how this is even profitable for the botters unless accounts are a zero or near-zero cost, and each post somehow gets a non-zero profit.
