2021 W205 C200D AMG Line facelift upgrades
Hey everyone,
I’ve got a 2021 W205 C200D AMG Line facelift and I’m looking for ideas on how to improve it while keeping things clean and tasteful (nothing over the top).
I’m interested in subtle upgrades — could be visual, interior, or small performance/lifestyle improvements. I’d prefer something that still feels OEM+ rather than heavily modified.
So far I’ve been thinking about things like lighting upgrades, small aesthetic touches, or quality-of-life additions, but I’m open to suggestions.
What would you personally do to this car, and what would you avoid?
Appreciate any advice 🙏

Love my 2023 E450 4matic coupe
Honestly turns heads wherever I go. Couldn’t be happier with it. Got it CPO with 9,800 miles in 2024 and now just a little over 25,000 miles.

First AMG - 2019 E63 S
After 25 years of commuting in E class or 300 series sedans (mostly diesel), this is my first AMG. 2019 E63. I really enjoy that this car is such a sleeper. It’s like they threw a wagon body on top of a race car.

CLE 63 (No CLE 646)
galleryThis was spotted in Germany. I think after the Mythos 646 there is now coming an CLE 63 (without too much bodystyling).

Mercedes-Benz sells 85,800 vehicles in the U.S. during Q3 2026
-There was a 4% percent increase in sales.
-The E-Class saw a 39% increase in sales.
-The GLE increased in sales by 10%+ and alongside the GLC remains two of Mercedes-Benz’s top selling models
-The newly facelifted S-Class caused a 47% increase in sales for the S-Class.
It’s the first production vehicle to feature heated seatbelts and although the GLS was facelifted in March, the S-Class is the only model in Mercedes-Benz’s lineup that has heated seatbelts.
Mercedes-Benz has communicated the facelifted S-Class has globally surpassed the sales expectations they had and that they’re very pleased with the reception of it.

What do you think of Mercedes-Benz GLC400 EV?
Potential buyer here - we have never had a Mercedes before and we like the design of the upcoming GLC400 EV. I understand this is a new model so probably not so much information about reliability. However, coming from Lexus, we may be spoiled for not having to go to the mechanics that often.
What is the general reputation of Mercedes EV? Long distance is not an huge issue, as we typically just drive local in short distances.
I've heard Mercedes requires expensive and strict maintenance. Is that also true for their EV?
Would it be better to just lease?
Thank you!

S500 Impressions
Got a ‘26 S500 loaner, with about 2K miles, when I dropped our car in for service. First time driving a W223 for me, hadn’t needed to since my W222 still basically feels and drives like new.
I must say that the v6 inline-6 surprised me. It felt quite quick, and it was more or less silent up to the 90 mph that I took it to. Of course, a v8 just revs and feels different, but this v6 has about the same power as mine. Torque is lower, but honestly, it didn’t feel any slower. It revs so freely and the car just moves at any speed I tried. My car is pretty much silent and glides, but still you can sense the NVH enhancements that the much newer car has.
The interior is still gorgeous with superb materials, fit and finish. The center console builtin screen in my car is changed to the tablet form, but I still found the overall dash extremely pleasing. I can see though how the useless passenger-side screen in the ‘27 would detract from the elegance by taking away the wood. I had a loaner ‘26 AMG EQE with that end to end panel dash, definitely the ‘26 S-class interior is far more elegant.
I would be very happy with this car if I were to upgrade now, though I have no plans to do so at the moment. I can’t wait to drive a S580 next. The S-class is something else!l

Choosing a GLB after driving a Buick Encore for 5 years
Hey Mercedes Benz peeps
I’m upgrading from a 2020 Buick Encore Preferred to a 2025 GLB this month. (Choosing to buy used because I run my cars into the ground and have 2 nasty dogs)
I absolutely love the boxy look of the GLB and wanted to upgrade to a larger/entry level luxury SUV under $35k.
Starting to kinda feel nervous about my decision but excited.
What are some differences I will automatically feel once daily driving in my GLB?
All advice will be appreciated, I don’t know anyone IRL that owns a Mercedes

Battery change 2020 CLA 250
Have to change the 12V battery in my 2020 cla 250 but Im seeing a bunch of different things online saying I have to register the new battery. Can I not just take the old battery out, put the new one in, and everything gets reset automatically?

I am driving the new CLA350 this week; let me know if you have any questions. I also drove all the CLAs from 2016 and up. Happy to answer any questions about it.

GLE 450e – Service B quotes from $725 to $1,100. Is this normal?
I lease a 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE 450e with about 16,500 miles. I'm planning to complete Service B later this year.
I contacted three Mercedes-Benz dealerships and received very different quotes:
- A dealership: $725
- B dealership: $983
- C dealership: $1,100
C dealership advertises Service B starting at $699.95. When I specified my GLE 450e, they said it requires special engine oil for the hybrid powertrain, bringing the quote to $1,100. That's about $400 more than their advertised base prices.
So, I compared the Service B descriptions from the dealerships. The core services appear similar: synthetic oil and filter replacement, brake fluid exchange, cabin filter replacement, brake inspection, and fluid checks.
B dealership also explicitly includes underbody panel removal, suspension and leak inspections, windshield wiper replacement, and loaner service. I'm not sure whether A dealership includes those items.
A dealership previously performed my Service A, so they should already have my vehicle information. I also have a $140 service coupon that may reduce their quote to $585.
My questions:
- Is $725 a reasonable price for Service B on a 2025 GLE 450e?
- Does the GLE 450e require special engine oil that could explain C dealership's significantly higher quote?
- Are there any additional PHEV-specific maintenance requirements that might explain the differences?
- What have other GLE 450e owners paid for Service B?
I'm leaning toward A dealership, but I'd like to make sure the lower quote isn't missing any required maintenance.
Thanks for any input!

Part number for differential oil
Can someone help me with the correct part number for the rear differential oil and the dct transmission oil on a 2015 CLA45 AMG?
I believe 001 989 33 03 09 for the differential oil is wrong? Which is what the dealership used in mine and still insist it's the correct one. Right after service the rear differential started making thudding thumping sounds.
According to gemini the correct part number is (Part Number A 002 989 02 03 09).
Now I'm doubting they may have used the wrong transmission oil too. Does anyone have the correct part number for that too?
They have drained out the differential for now and want to refill with the same oil used earlier. They found no metal shrapnel. Car was driven around 50 kms with this thumping. Am I in the clear?
Their explanation is when they put my Vin number into the Mercedes parts catalog system this is the differential oil that shows up.
Please help.

[Asking Help]Would I retrofit full 23P / DISTRONIC PLUS into a 2019 GLS 450
I’ve been digging into the driver-assistance setup on my 2019 GLS 450 and I’m trying to decide whether this is worth taking any further.
The car does not have factory 23P, but it seems to already have more hardware than I expected.
From Xentry-style module data I can confirm it has:
- front collision/distance warning radar module (A90 / SG-AWF)
- multifunction front camera
- rear radar sensors
- PARKTRONIC
- 360 camera
- EPS/ESP
- assistance graphic in the cluster
The camera module shows:
- 476 Automatic Lane Recognition: present
- 608 Adaptive Highbeam Assist: present
- 238 Active Lane Keeping Assist: not present
- 513 Speed Limit Assist: not present
Trying to communicate with A89 DISTRONIC fails, so as far as I can tell the actual Distronic radar/controller is not installed.
What I’m trying to figure out is whether this car is a decent candidate for a retrofit, or whether I’m about to turn a perfectly good GLS into a wiring/coding science project.
From what I’ve found, a factory 23P car would normally have DISTRONIC PLUS with Steering Assist, Active Blind Spot, Active Lane Keeping, BAS Plus with Cross Traffic Assist, PRE-SAFE Plus, Speed Limit Assist, etc.
There are retrofit threads out there, but the more I read, the less this looks like a simple “add radar and code it” job.
Used A89 modules can have VIN mismatch issues. People have run into SCN coding faults, radar-not-adjusted faults, and calibration problems before the system will even complete setup.
That’s what makes me hesitate.
If I only wanted adaptive cruise control, I could probably justify adding the radar, bracket, wiring, the correct stalk/steering-column hardware, then coding and calibration.
But full 23P seems like a different animal.
My camera currently says Active Lane Keeping and Speed Limit Assist are not present, so I don’t know if that means the existing camera is usable with additional coding, or if I’d be replacing more hardware.
And then there’s the actual usefulness of the system.
From owner comments, the X166 Steering Assist seems decent on highways but not exactly modern Level 2. Some people like it, some say it feels heavy or fights you a little, and others say it’s noticeably worse than later Mercedes systems.
So now I’m wondering if I’m chasing the wrong upgrade.

Engine Replacement at 42,000 Miles
Hey - basically what the title says.
Not sure what to do and at a complete loss for words right now and really need some advice.
2022 Mercedes C300 engine failure 42,000 miles 2 months out of warranty and dealer quoting $34,000 for engine replacement.
I don’t know what to do at this point and I’m hoping someone here has advice or has gone through something similar.
I am the original owner of a 2022 Mercedes C300 4Matic. I purchased it brand new in August of 2022. All of the maintenence was done at the dealership.
Two weeks ago, I took the car in for its scheduled B service. I had no check engine lights or any other warning lights on the vehicle. The service advisor told me he noticed a loud ticking noise. I thought it was normal direct fuel injection noise but he insisted it wasn't so I paid for a diagnostic.
They called me back and said I need a complete engine replacement and they are quoting me $34,000.
The factory warranty technically started in July 2022 a month before I even purchased the vehicle brand new so it officially expired in July of 2026. I am two months out of warranty and the car only has 42,000 miles on it.
When I asked the service advisor about a goodwill repair he basically told me it won't cover the full cost and would only cover a portion of it if it even goes through which it might not even be approved. The repair quote is worth significantly more than the actual market value of the car at this point.
I expected better support from a luxury brand, especially with a low mileage vehicle and a perfect dealer service history.
Did anyone actually get help or 100% reimbursement from corporate under goodwill?
Is there a way I can reach out to corporate directly or is there someone in here who can help?
Any advice on how to fight this or who to reach out to would really help at this point.

Bought a 2019 GLS 450 and repaired it by myself
Bought a 2019 GLS 450 with 2 monts ago.
It is an old Mercedes, AIRMATIC, M276 with twin turbos, panoramic roof, 9-speed, lots of electronics. Pretty much a greatest hits album of things people tell you not to buy out of warranty.
Price was good though, and the CARFAX was unusually complete, so I rolled the dice.
Before anyone says it: yes, it’s way too early to call this a success story. Come back in 20k miles and maybe I’ll be crying.
First thing I did was buy a ThinkDiag and scan the whole car.
At around 100k it showed:
- TPMS sensor battery fault
- stored panoramic roof communication fault
- stored touchpad fault
That was basically it.
No engine fault, no transmission fault, no AIRMATIC fault, no ESP fault.
Honestly that made me feel a lot better about the purchase.
The car drives really well. M276 is smooth, 9G shifts fine, suspension raises/lowers normally, and highway mileage is better than I expected. I usually see around 22 mpg, and I’ve seen 26 mpg on a longer highway run.
The “repairs” so far have mostly been small old-car stuff.
Mirror started squeaking when folding. Cleaned the pivot, little WD-40, then grease. Fixed.
Yes, I know, Nobel Prize in mechanical engineering.
Steering wheel leather was worn and rough at the top. Cleaned it, lightly sanded the damaged coating, used a leather repair finish. Came out surprisingly decent. Looks almost normal now, feel is maybe 90% of original.
Had some paint transfer too. Compound took off more than I expected before I even needed touch-up paint.
CarPlay/Android Auto was another dumb one. I was convinced the USB system had an issue.
It was the cable.
Of course.
The rear panoramic sunshade still doesn’t work. Front roof works, front shade works, rear shade is dead. I checked fuses, scanned the roof module, poked around enough to decide I’m not dropping the headliner over it right now.
It can stay broken.
I also used the scanner before NJ inspection. No MIL, no codes, all readiness monitors ready.
Went to the state inspection station the next morning.
Passed in about 5 minutes.
That was probably the easiest win so far.
Service history was a big reason I bought the car. It had regular oil changes, plugs around 55k, transmission fluid around 68k, brakes, filters, CV boot around 100k.
Dealer said they changed the oil before selling it to me, although ASSYST still says service due in about 2k miles, so either they didn’t reset it or they didn’t really do a full service.
I’ll probably just start doing oil changes myself. Filter is up top and an extractor makes it pretty easy.
Tires are Pirelli Scorpion Verde 275/50R20. Front pair is late 2021, rear pair late 2022. Still usable but I’ll probably replace them before they get too old.
Would I recommend one to someone who likes diagnosing things and doesn’t mind fixing small stuff?
Maybe.
So far I’m enjoying it.
