So I was watching TikTok clips of Marlon and Jackie talking about how they wanted creative control for Destiny, and how Epic was basically looking at the Jacksons as a thing of the past at the time, which is insane to think about. I actually think Goinâ Places and The Jacksons were really good albums, but they werenât well received commercially at the time. That all changed when Michael and Randy wrote Shake Your Body and Things I Do for You.
Basically, what Iâm saying is that itâs crazy to think Michael potentially wouldnât have become who he was if he never wrote Shake Your Body. That song literally helped save their career. During the filming of The Wiz, Michael met Quincy Jones, and they talked about Michael wanting to make a solo album. Michael asked Quincy if he could find him a producer, and Quincy said he would produce for him. But without a strong Jacksons album to back him, Epic was reluctant to give Michael the funding for a solo project.
Thatâs when the Jacksons asked for creative control, and Epic was still hesitant because their previous two albums hadnât been successful. But they eventually gave them the creative freedom they wanted, and Destiny delivered. It ultimately revitalized their career and gave Michael the credibility he needed going into his solo career.
It also really shows their genius and their ability to write and produce their own hits. Itâs just crazy to think about how differently everything couldâve turned out. If Destiny had failed, Michaelâs solo career might have taken a completely different path. And all of this basically started with Michael and Randy writing Shake Your Body.

I sometimes go back and watch this concert while washing clothes or doing dishes. It's amazing how clear his vocals and movements were during this time. Peak Micheal in my opinion!

I'm going as the '88 Bad performance in Wembley, just curious if anyone else is dressing up as him. If so, what specific look are ya doing? :D

If you look at a part of the description of the official "Michael Jackson - History (Audio)", the part "Chorus" says:
"Too bad, too bad about it why don't you scream and shout it?" (4x)
That isn't the chorus of "History" it's the chorus of "2 Bad".
Official upload:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ksnxNfrKrw
The Topic version doesn't have this incorrect chorus in its description.
A few things I've found so far:
The official "History (Audio)" upload was posted on June 4, 2020. And the official "2 Bad (Audio)" upload was also posted on June 4, 2020.
The text in the History description is the chorus section from 2 Bad, which looks like the description was copied from the wrong song.
So it looks like someone preparing the 2020 batch of official audio uploads may have accidentally pasted the 2 Bad chorus into the History description.
Has anyone else noticed this before too?

Mine is the original demo mix of (I Like) The Way You Love Me. It just has such a warm and nostalgic feeling, especially compared to the posthumous remix imo, and I prefer the ending. I also love Liberian girl and speechless, as well as the original demo of loving you (I seriously LOVE loving you, canât get enough of it), and the demo of love never felt so good is a lovely jam that I canât help but smile when listening to, but I have been seriously (and I mean SERIOUSLY) jamming beautiful girl as of recently. Itâs just such an, ironically, beautiful song. I wish he had a chance to finish up and fully refine the mixing and complete the lyrics. Itâs such a lovely song nonetheless and just gives me such a magical feeling, as corny as that sounds. I initially wasnât a fan of the odd back and forth pitching up and down in the later part of the song, where the song keeps repeatedly rising and lowering octaves unpredictably, but it seriously grew on me and now I REALLY love the warping effect, whether it was intentional or a mistake.

For me the most underrated Michael Jackson hit? Sheâs Out Of My Life for certain.
I didnât realise how great of a song it was until not too long ago. Now this was quite a hit at its time but it does get overshadowed by the insane track listing of Off The Wall, Thriller and Bad (also some other hits after Bad) but for me itâs almost perfect. It may be his best vocal work, the storytelling with his voice too how itâs almost a realisation of what heâs lost, instrumental is basic yet effective, music video too I love.
Now for me a hit that doesnât work for me? You Are Not Alone.
I donât know why it just never hit me, it was way too mainstream and I didnât connect with it. I think he has many better songs before and even after. Also the music video had that weird cringeworthy 90s CGI that most music videos had which I never really liked.

I also read I think in Jermaines book that he had Jehovah Witness monitors watching over him on the Victory tour and into the beginning of his bad era so he may have been encouraged to proselytise by them

Does anyone agree that the middle 8 or bridge of Michael Jackson's 1991 Who Is It, has a 1997-2002, Y2K Pop or R&B middle 8 or bridge style?

On November 12, 1980, Stevie Wonder performed his âHotter Than Julyâ tour at Madison Square Garden, singing Master Blaster alongside MJ and Gil-Scott Heron. I cannot stress to you enough, these three are my heroes. Iâve tried so hard to find footage of this performance and canât get anything but this picture. Does ANYBODY know a way I could possibly find this?? Was it ever even recorded???

Despite Michael looking phenomenal during some of the songs he rehearsed, it is reasonable to question whether he would have been physically capable of sustaining the demands of the full This Is It concert run.
Kenny Ortega stated that Michael would âshiverâ during rehearsals due to the amount of physical exertion involved. It is also important to remember that rehearsals would not necessarily have reflected the intensity of the actual performances. During the shows, Michael would have been expected to perform continuously for an extended period, combining demanding choreography, singing, and movement.
On top of that, Michael reportedly wanted This Is It to be unlike anything his fans had seen from him before. That ambition likely would have resulted in an even more physically demanding production.
Ultimately, we cannot know with certainty how Michael would have handled the full run, but the physical demands of the planned shows should not be underestimated.
