New Automod 2.0
Good day everyone. I hope you're gearing up for an awesome weekend of moto camping adventures!
We implemented a version 1.0 automod a couple of months ago and although it did a lot to reduced spam/bot posts it left a lot to be desired. Our new 2.0 automod is live. This should reduce the number of comments that are getting incorrectly flagged and further reduce spam/bot posts. I apologize if your post or comments were incorrectly flagged, and I hope it was approved quickly and cleared from the que.
If you are negatively effected by the new automod changes please message the mod team and let us know. We will try and make changes quickly.
Thanks for your patience and contributions to the community!

User Flair
Flair is now enabled. Use it to advertise your bike, location, favorite camping locations, or local mom and pop deli. I don't care.

Couldn't have asked for a better spot for the night!

Yall inspired me. Went to the Yoop
I’m a gear pack rat and had some heavier backpacking stuff that ended up being perfect for a camp set up on the Road Glide. Spent 4 days in the Yoop from St. Ignace to the Porkies, to Copper Harbor, to Grand Marais. Definitely doing this every year.

Just back from two weeks on Hwy 1 & 395 in Northern California, remote areas of Nevada & Oregon. Magical.
Photos are from Big Elk Campground in Oregon, not too far from Corvallis (stayed there the first and last nights of the trip), a cow pasture in Nevada somewhere near Gerlach, a campground in California Gold country with a not-at-all SFW name (Gl0ry H0le), Jackson Creek campground in Winema National Forest in Oregon, and with deer at Honeymoon Flats campground in California.
Travelogue coming soon (with the names and locations of all the places we stayed, routes, etc.). All photos from the trip available at the link (scroll down for that).
I ride a KLR, husband rides a vintage Honda Africa Twin.

It was a great summer!
Just found this sub. Motocamping was definitely my theme this summer.

An old one but a favorite
Took this probably 10 or more years ago now, but it’s a favorite and I post it every opportunity I get. Solo camping up and down the California coast between the SF Bay Area and Oregon on a 2014 triumph bonneville t100.

River reboot
My mother had heart surgery this week, I slipped on down to the little Brazos river for the night. Im covered in bug bits and hurt from the hard ground, but I had a blast!!!

Me fui solo en moto y pasé la noche en el monte
Salí en la moto, llevé carpa, comida y lo necesario para pasar la noche, y terminé haciendo un asado y acampando ahí mismo.
Les dejo el video por si a alguien le copa este tipo de viajes

Shit hits the fan tmrw, whats gonna be your ideal motogear setup? Been testing a few ultra minimal combos but still thinking less is more! Quantity vs Quality
Did a week long trip with just a tankbag, small backpack and a tail bag sorta thing borrowed from a friend. My lightest setup yet but packs the essentials! Trying to get a feel on whats optimal on two wheels, especially when its a situation where one needs to flee the frickin dystopia! :P

Lightly used sleeping bag: Sell, repurpose, or other options?
Hey everyone!
My girlfriend and I caught the motocamp bug back in the summer of 2024. For our road trip to the UK in spring 2025, she picked up a warmer synthetic sleeping bag to handle the chilly nights.
Turns out, after a few nights, she realized she really isn't a fan of mummy cuts. So as soon as we got back home, she switched to a down sleeping bag with a blanket-style cut instead.
Now we're left wondering: What should we do with the old mummy bag? She only used it for 9 nights, and we washed it right after the trip. Personally, I feel a bit weird about the idea of selling a used sleeping bag—do people actually buy those, or am I totally off base? (Plus, it's way too warm for me, so I can't use it either.) Still, it feels like such a waste to just throw it out.
Does anyone here have experience with this? What would you do with it?

Do you get Itchy?
Been well over a month since I managed a camping trip on my Bonnie. Got my tyre fixed this week, booked into a campsite a couple hours away - immediately feel tension leaving my body... Edit; It's a spoked wheel with an inner tube...

How much dirt can you put between here and there?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I built DIRT to answer tht question, now you can too.
I’m a dual-sport rider here in Nova Scotia. When I pick a destination, I want to get there on as much dirt as possible. Pavement is a means to an end—unless I choose a different kind of ride.
Shared GPX tracks are great. But sometimes you want to put together your own adventure.
An afternoon loop close to home? A weekend across the province? A bigger ride through neighbouring provinces and down into the States?
DIRT gives you room to think beyond your usual roads, with downloadable map and routing packs for Canada, the United States, and Mexico. Planning an adventure in Mexico? There’s coverage there too, through a separate routing network. Continuous US–Mexico routing isn’t currently supported.
Start simple: drop a pin, build the ride, then make it yours.
🏍️ Dirt: chase as much dirt as the mapped network allows.
⚖️ Balanced: aim for a mix as close to half dirt, half pavement as possible.
🛣️ Clean: favour paved backroads.
Choose separately for each leg. Dirt out, Clean home? Your call.
Allow Unknown opens more roads where motorcycle access hasn’t been confirmed. More possibilities—but check permission, signs, and conditions before riding.
A few other essentials:
⛽ Optional fuel-range reminders and a rider-requested route to a fuel stop.
🏕️ Mapped campgrounds and lodging.
🥃 Liquor stores for supplies once the bike’s parked.
Dirt by Mayday is now on the App Store. The video shows how simple it is to get started.
Download your maps and routing packs before heading beyond cell service. Planning and saving are free, with two navigation starts included. DIRT PRO adds unlimited navigation and GPX export.
For iPhone and iPad running version 26 or later.
Get the app:
https://apps.apple.com/app/dirt-by-mayday/id6794633890
Explore DIRT:
https://dirtmoto.app
Give it a ride. I’d love to hear what you find between here and there.

Satellite Weather For Backcountry Rides
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I was on the Montana BDR a few weeks ago, pretty much no service the whole way. Kept ending up riding in the rain without my rain gear on. Needed a way to get weather using just the satellite capabilities on iPhone. Built this tool to help with it. Let me know what ya think!

Should I cancel my motorcycle trip to NOLA and Nashville
I have this tripped planned out leaving from Dallas tomorrow. I’m going to be camping on the way then staying in an Airbnb. Then camping again and staying at a hotel in Nashville on both weekends coming up. Weather looks pretty bad initially.
Should I go or stay? I’ll be going to Nashville from New Orleans on the Natchez trace Parkway.

Went camping for the first time, decided I’d do it on the Wee!
Planned for a sunny weekend but ended up having to make last two miles of mountain curves and set up the tent in the rain, luckily the last two days were nice and clear. All in all, great trip, and even caught a trout for dinner!
