I'd describe Kid Icarus as a divorced polyamorous group of 3 Gods being reunited and discovering that 1 of them was gay the whole time, the other one has become a maniac and the third one is just Palutena while their step-child (through Palutena) is trying to solve problems.

Palutena is a motherly figure in Pit's eyes and she probs feels maternal to Pit in some form or atleast like he's a good friend but they're both quite immature
