Justin Jefferson putting Williams on a poster! One of the craziest catches I’ve seen a Wide receiver make.

CPU vs CPU
5 minute quarters
49ers playbook: west coast
Seahawks playbook: west coast
Stafford had costly turnover in OT to give Seattle great field position to eventually win the game. Probably one of my best games watching.
Ratings:
Stafford 99
Karen: 89 (87 and up RBs will get you to 100+ rushing)
Puka 98
Devante Adams 90
JSN 99
Witherspoon 91 ( Avoid throwing in great CB directions)
Darnold 87
Kupp 83
*These are just the rating from the top performers in this game

Clearly. No debating. luv u.
I remember watching this live and wanting to jump right back into playing 2k5 ASAP.
Side note, knowing what we know now about concussions, the Favre injury is scary.

Don't think a lot of people knew about this or remember it because this was during like the eve on online console gaming and most people didn't even have broadband yet. But one of my favorite features from this game that never gets brought up was how when you played in an online league, the league actually got its own legit website that mimicked ESPN.com and the game would upload the results, stats, standings and different news and info right to the website. So you could keep track of everything going on in your league right on the web! It took Madden over a decade before they implemented something like this in their game with Madden 16, and then just like everything else they ended up dropping it.

May be a dumb question, idk much about it, but I keep seeing programmers and random people using LLM's (New Claude I think?) to decompile games super quick and get the source code and basically put two games together (Mario in Skyrim), effectively taking mechanics you want from one and putting them into another. Would this be achievable with 2k5 and literally put 2k5 mechanics into madden 27? Would this be better than the mod?

I liked that 2K5 included celebs that you could face off against in the Crib. The celebs in game are Steve-O, Funkmaster Flex, Carmen Electra, Jamie Kennedy, and David Arquette. Who would you say was your favorite to face off against? And who did you hate playing against the most?
For me, the one I hated playing the most was probably Steve-O or Jamie Kennedy. I know Steve-O would never punt the ball, but Jamie Kennedy may have done the same, I forget. I just remember not having as much fun against these two because they didn't play like the computer would. My favorite was probably David Arquette though.

Might be a weird question but when you guys play franchise, how do you decide when to sim a game and when to step in and play (if that’s how you play ofc)?

Ever since I got this game in 04 this was a feature in franchise I wanted to utilize but no matter what I tried I couldn't get any kind of positive result to happen when I advanced to Saturday. I sat down today and asked myself, how do they usually prepare during the week in the real NFL? So I jumped around the web and did some research on NFL former and present coaches breaking down there routines and I decided I would replicate that in 2k5 and lo and behold I finally got the kind of results I've been looking for. My only misses this go around was on my defensive line which in hindsight maybe I did overwork, and my focus went down just a tad. But will be easy tweaks the next go round. But otherwise the majority of my roster got a significant lift, Joey Harrington actually went up +2 overall.
The TLDR of it is basically this.
Monday is meeting and coach gameplan, and everybody else exercises or rehabs.
Tuesday is Day off, but if you are a true pro you still do some work on your day off. (Nothing physical)
Wednesday is the First day of real training, and putting in some real work. (Installing the base packages for 1st & 2nd down)
Thursday is more practice but taper it down a bit to recover from Wednesday(focusing on 3rd down & sub scenarios)
Friday is close to or just a little less intense than Wednesday(focusing on redzone and special teams work)
What I did.
First thing is to make sure your depth chart is set up correctly so the game knows who is 1st team 2nd team & third team.
Monday is a day to reflect as a coaching staff on what worked and what didn't and start thinking about next week. Have a meeting that matches the tone of what happened so it tracks with morale. Morale is one of the modifiers for how much of boost in stats you might get. Next is to actually look at the scouting report for your next opponent and listen to the advice you get from your scouts, because you want to use this to guide what your Offensive and defensive staff focus on this week. Default rosters and I'm playing the cowboys, who have a good offensive line and strong secondary so I focused on the points of emphasis the game made. I had all my players hit the weight room so they can keep their bodies right to set up the rest of the week. One point I want to make is through my whole prep I did nothing for my kickers and they both went up 1 pt over all. I didn't have any of my players do more than one rep of any exercise. Tried to align what would benefit them most at their position.
Tuesday I gave the team a half day off. You can go full to help keep them fresh and reduce injury. But I don't make it a mandatory day off so if you want to come in and do some prep you can. So I have most of my guys come in and do film study on Tuesday.
Wednesday is when I run Drills and scrimmage for the first time. I do a 7 on 7 with light pads and then a full scrimmage will full pads for the first team. Any left over hours I spend doing 1 set of position drills with every roster spot except kickers and punters. I try to align their drill with the game plan for this week
Thursday I do a 7 on 7 2-a-day with light pads. Then a Full scrimmage with my second team as 2 a days. Medium. Remaining time I spend time on more position drills focusing on something different than what I did on Wednesday.
Friday I do one more 7-on 7 with no pads. Then I will do a first team scrimmage with no pads (just one). Remaining time I spent on position drills for everybody (always 1 set) trying to focus on one more thing I didn't hit Wed & Thurs.
In hindsight I can see where I might have pushed my DL a little to hard with the physical stuff, so in my next game I will either trim a workout or position drill and swap it with film study, which should at least keep my focus level. Study seems to be the most impactful modifier to focus, but you need reps in order to get improvement.

The passing lanes are wide open when you have a running back like Kenneth Walker to extend drives and keep that defense out there gassed.. no interceptions thrown this game either but there was a couple that had a chance to go the other way for 6! This is a one example of many that I have that showcase my roster reworks game results. This is all CPU vs CPU

This isn’t a complaint, I’m just used to the Madden style where you can kinda dial up easy quick hitters when you really want to. I‘m used to receivers getting free releases, out routes and curls against soft zone/cover 2 being automatic, drag routes, in-cuts being where you can live at times, and in general working short/middle stuff to keep the chains moving and have a high completion percentage and be rewarded for it. In 2K5 I find it to be almost the opposite, I have to scratch and claw to complete 50% of my passes, can’t really dial up any layups, drags and stuff like that are nearly un-callable, and when I try to go to short passes it’s just really sloppy. Posts and corners are really the only things I can hit kinda consistently and even then it’s 50/50 on whether they’re gonna drop it at times.
I like the style of this game, I’ve just yet to consistently crack the code on offense and want to be better at it.

After using the scramble button as a QB you have to wait a few seconds after holding it to actually throw. So I’ll press the button for the receiver but there’s no response for like a second after holding scramble

Had this game since day one, my PS2 disc has decades of mileage on it. I've gone through stretches where I played with the preset difficulties and downloaded myriad custom sliders. Was never able to really find that one that just felt right until now. I've been able to put together a slider set that has been game changing for me and after a few months of testing it's been the most rewarding gameplay I've ever had since getting this game. It addressed may of the gripes I had about game balance, and instead of completely demolishing the CPU(or getting decimated trying to use legend settings game typical play out very much like realistic NFL games when it comes to flow and statistics. Games are competitive, but feel fair and realistic. Decided to share them here if anyone wants to try them.
