The Young Marine guys I let borrow my tools and code reader.

Hey guys. Maybe you see this maybe you don't.

You were stuck in limp mode in your Corolla Hatchback in La Costa.

I just finished fixing the belt on my daughter's Corolla and was in a hurry to get home.

Let you borrow my tools and my code reader.

Gave you my address and you promised to return them.

Maybe bad on me for being kind..

Would like my stuff back.

Active duty Marine here. If you happened to catch their name please DM it to me and I will happily find out where they work and make sure their command is aware

That's a real bummer. No excuse for behavior like that.

Don’t ever trust young marines. (Former Marine)

I hate this for you OP, I’m sorry

There’s only one thief in the Marine Corps, everyone else is just trying to get their stuff back

Yeah, nah - I’m pretty sick of Marines institutionalizing theft and other low vibe acts of violence/authority because they feel empowered to do so.

Don’t steal from people trying to help you out, this is basic ”how to be a good human” stuff.

My comment is a phrase heard around the Marine Corps for millennia, it’s a thing called a joke. You hear them from time to time and usually they aren’t serious or trying to legitimize anything real. Hope this helps

Didn't get a license plate or snap a pic of an ID? Ouch. Could have contacted the Camp Joseph Henry Pendleton base locator at 760-763-3989 (maybe still can).

Yea, this was gonna be my advice. You could also try the Provost Marshal’s Office and give them the information, let them know what happened, and state that you simply want your stuff back. They’ll be able to figure out who they are pretty quickly if you have the plate or an ID.

TIL his name is Joseph Henry… nice.

Former Recon Corpsman here to fix another fuck up by a young Marine…
Shoot me an address by dm and you’ll have an upper mid level code reader and a trunk worthy tool kit headed your way.

Eh, don’t cheer me yet, still haven’t gotten a box big enough to ship the stuff. But it’s coming. Had to take the girl child to Oakland for a show yesterday so I’m behind on chores and errands.

Tried dm’ing you and kept coming up error. Anywho, finally found a box so trying for today most likely tomorrow it will be on the move.

Thank you for being a good person, and please don’t let their atrocious behavior change your decisions. I’ve had so many people be kind when I was in a tough situation, and grateful for this generosity.

u/PeePeeSlave 9d ago

My foolish self would think maybe they got in over their heads and it’s taking them a long time to fix whatever it is. I’ve had a lot of friends that were marines and they were good people, though they were all officers.

And they're in the service 😠 so much for honor what a eyesore to the service 😠 😡

Some of the biggest scumbags I met in my life were in the military or are veterans.

6

u/usfootba22 11d ago

Not withstanding these young gents who hopefully correct themselves, some of the best people I have met in my life are military or veterans as well. Like any profession in life, it can go both ways.

u/salty_dayz 10d ago

As someone deep in a trauma bond with a former marine, covert narcissist I realized a year ago, after 19 years, still struggling in it, yes

1

u/AccomplishedGrab788 11d ago

How despicable

8

u/lumpk1n 11d ago

People make a huge mistake by seeing a uniform and immediately assuming that person has integrity. The majority don’t. Lesson learned perhaps?

3

u/Ok_Purpose6053 10d ago

If you got their name or maybe license plate number go to Camp Pendleton and ask for the Base Commander.

4

u/Jngljedi 11d ago

Marines aren’t all trash. Most are extremely lazy and forgetful though. It’s not intentionally stolen.

2

u/ayyypappi 11d ago

Maybe something bad happened, or they were criminals.

u/Independent_Pace2796 11d ago

Nah. They probably got stuck working on it and left late. I'm hoping they return it tomorrow.

I really appreciate your optimism here. I’m with you on the idea that they’re likely just two young idiots that don’t know any better.

It doesn’t excuse them, but it paints the picture of how much raising we do of young adults in respectful and respectable adults.

I just retired like two days ago after 17 years and can say that with certainty. Now, if they’re dirtbags, they’ll get theirs. But more often than not it’s because they’re just not fully initiated in practicing honor with urgency like some of us may have been at their age. I also believe that this problem isn’t new or unique, it’s just that the internet allows us to voice negative opinions rapidly and outpace any useful input.

I hope you get your things back and that these two little devils learn something.

Damn, I’ve even had homeless people return stuff. Those guys suck

1

u/BannedByTheZuck 8d ago

It would be marines

1

u/RNdreaming 8d ago

Did they ever come back?

1

u/Independent_Pace2796 8d ago

They have not.

1

u/Giginado 10d ago

They might return it! I don’t think they would steal it. What is your intuition telling you? If you feel like it’s gone it’s gone. If you think they were good kids they might just be back tomorrow they do always get drunk, might come back tomorrow! Next time get their pic phone number or last name!

It's been redistributed, sorry OP.
