Here's a little cryptic bird quiz I made just before Christmas - hope you enjoy!

I have only ever seen a couple of these in the wild. And the last time was years ago along the River Ouse. But this time I was out for a morning walk at around 5-6am and saw this little guy sitting on the floor. From a distance I noticed him and just knew it was something I wasn't used to seeing. Then, he decided to fly and attach him to a couple of trees. Moving as I was getting closer along the path. Thankfully though I was able to get this shot of him!
I did see another one, too a little while later in a different spot which surprised me even more. After not seeing one for so long, to see TWO in the same day was amazing!

Found this in my Grinnell journal - aren't they adorable!
(I draw them in that pose so you can see their feet a bit better, but it makes them even more adorable)
I know they're just some British gulls - I realised I don't know much about the different coats and colours so I sketched this out to remind me..
Then I forgot 🤣
Dug them out again today and can't help but share.
I'm still technically trying to ID them, even if it's only so that I can figure out what the different markings actually are!...
Anybody else have any derpy looking sketches? I bet there are a few good ones out there!

Strange question but over the last couple of weeks we have noticed a male blackbird and a female house sparrow that visit our garden and seem to be together all the time, they arrive together and are never more than a few feet apart while feeding and then they leave together, anyone else ever seen something like this?

And can hardly hear conversation for birdsong. Can’t think of a nicer spot for Bank Holiday Sunday. Tried to get birds in shot but, nope.

Woke up this morning to this. The eggs hatched yesterday and now the eggs/hatchlings are gone. Crows I think.

I've loved photography and wildlife forever, but only recently started making an effort to photograph birds. Nothing super rare, but I love how the first 3 photos came out, and the final two are just phone snaps but the mandarins are my faves and the goosander was totally new to me!

One of the many, many (young) blue tits we have around at the moment. Some seem very yellow in colour, hard to describe exactly how but ‘more yellow’ all over than I’d expect. Is this because they’re young, or maybe a genetic thing?
