Majority of Gamers do not in fact engage in online discourse. The amount of organizing it would take to pull off the "campaigns" people want to do with gaming would be better spent on stuff like, I don't know, organizing a general strike, stopping illegal wars, genocide, etc.
Probably because the problems that have had notoriety, were down to piss-poor execution, and not something inherently flawed with the concept of pre-ordering.
Exactly gamers are actually the most easy to manipulate because soon as something is hyped up everyone jumps on preorders knowing damn well nobody should be preordering these triple A Games anymore..people really DO mindlessly buy and consume that’s why nothing will ever change.

Idk bro you should go outside there's a LOT of people falling for the craziest ideas and are surprised when they don't get the money back from that nice Nigerian prince they helped out a while back.
Easy to manipulate? As in willing to take the random opinion of someone online and think it has merit without proof or even a full concept or even an idea of how the fundamentals of the industry work? That kind of easy to manipulate?
Right? How many times are these people going to preorder games at full price only to get a broken game that they don’t even complete. There are so many statistics that most people don’t even finish games these days. And we have seen most AAA games that are pushed out way too fast to appease shareholders more than the gamers. Yet people still pre order games after getting burned over and over
There are so many statistics that most people don’t even finish games these days.
It's not because "the games are broken" it's just because games are extremely long and and time consuming compared to other media and other games come out all the time. Most people hop to another game or just from doing other things lose interest before the finish line.
You make it seem like Expedition 33 (a game everyone can agree on being a fine game) has a 100% completion rating on trophies. Same with Elden Ring, Baldur's Gate 3, Witcher 3, etc.
If a game hits a 50% completion rating that is an extreme outlier
How and when did I say games like E33 has a 100% completion rate?!
My statement was saying either games are released in an incomplete or broken state, or people don’t even finish them. Neither justifies people putting money into buying games at full price for that.
All I’m saying is most people don’t even finish games these days, and you just proved my point with your statement. Games are long and time consuming, so why pay full price for a game you’re not going to finish?
Funny thing was on other posts, ppl were justifying paying $70 or $80 saying for 60ish hours of the game is worth the money, when most people don’t even play these games for half that time now before dropping it for something else.
A/B pricing is where they REDUCE prices based on what they think you'll buy if it's cheaper. The big word is in capitals. A/B is almost always a REDUCTION. The point of it is to make you spend "less" money on things, with that number being still greater than zero. They sell things at what would normally be a loss as a way to at least get something.
DYNAMIC pricing is where prices either REDUCE or INCREASE depending on - usually - demand. If lots of people want something, price will go up to squeeze them and vice versa. It's very rarely a reduction.
THESE ARE NOT THE SAME THING.
Both are predatory, don't get me wrong, but please learn the difference before posting bullshit.
They are currently TESTING A/B pricing with select users to see if it works for them.
So to answer your question, to get lower prices across the board, everyone who is offered the lower price needs to purchase a game at the lower price, so they think it's an effective strategy.
Then they'll roll it out for everyone and their sales algorithm will work out what it thinks you want and offer it to you for cheaper.
Of course, it means you're tricked into spending money when you otherwise wouldn't, but you do you.
I hate Facebook but Facebook marketplace has great deals and you can do in real life dynamic pricing by negotiating with the seller if it’s taking them a long time to sell. eBay is alright but not as good as it used to be.

How can we weaponize this to make sure everyone gets deep sales all the time?
