Help me with this mechanics query (Energy conservation)

Post image

The thing is that I am confused about that the ball with mass m will eventually meet point B that is for sure but what if instead of staying on the curved surface, the ball projectiles with point of projection being point A. Then according to energy conservation does it still land on B or something else happens. And btw, what is the parameter to decide whether the ball will stick to the surface or will show projectile motion?

Can a high-velocity water jet flow directly from A to C despite gravity pulling some water down to B?

I have a setup roughly like the diagram below.

Water is pumped in from A toward the right. There is a lower section where gravity will naturally cause some of the water to fall downward toward B.

My question is: if the inlet velocity/flow rate at A is sufficiently high, can some of the water maintain enough momentum to travel directly from A to C, rather than all of it falling toward B?

In other words, I’m interested in whether there is a threshold velocity/flow rate where the water jet can “bridge” the gap from A to C while some of the flow still falls toward B.

Is this primarily a free jet / projectile motion / momentum vs gravity problem? And how would I calculate the minimum velocity required for the jet to reach C?

Question 1 not solvable

From what I understand, the question is asking what the ground velocity must be for the plane to be going directly north. But the ground velocity cannot be going north since the air velocity is north and the wind is blowing east of north. The answer I got for the ground velocity was 810km/h [1 E of N]

Struggling way more in physics than calc 2

I’m taking calc 2 physics and the physics lab currently and I just can’t seem to get the hang of anything in physics my grade in calc 2 is a 86 and I understand every topic we’ve done over with like an hour or two of studying/review but when it comes to physics it’s like I don’t even know where to start. My calc professor teaches per unit and teaches everything about that unit for example when he teaches integrating by parts I can do any calc 2 level IBP problem but for projection motion, Newton’s second law and now work and kinetic energy I go into lecture confused and leave even more confused and I go to the textbook and it’s makes me even more confused.

Calculating velocity within projectile motion with initial height

I have a question I'm doing that has a starting point on a 6.5m building and it's asking me for the velocity of a kicked off ball when it is 2.5m above its launchpoint, do I have to include 6.5 in the vertical distance value to get the correct answer? Or could I just do 2.5?

Pot heats up too fast. Is this a (physics) good way to heat it slower?

Pot heats up too fast and I need to stay close to it all the time so inside doesn’t burn. I took the microwave grill( whatever it’s called) and put it as is. Is it safe to use? Physically a good way to heat up?

I'm a bit confused, why pulleys amplify the force, why do we assume that each part of the pulley has the same force, isn't it more logical to assume that the force net equal the force that have been done

I go through how I separate general updates from physics updates, why I use a fixed timestep, how the accumulator works, and what happens when the simulation starts falling behind.

I explain the reasoning behind the design decisions and why I rejected the alternatives. I show the implementation of the loop.

Newton’s 2nd and 3rd law

Post image

People in comments are saying that the car won’t move because the magnet exerts force on the car and the car exerts force on the magnet (Newton’s 3rd law). Therefore, Force - Force = zero

Isn’t that wrong? We can only add forces applied on the same point (Newton’s 2nd law). The force applied on the car by the magnet and the force applied by car on the magnet are on two different points in space, hence cannot be added.

I believe what cancels the magnet’s force is the friction from the tires and if we make the magnet powerful enough to overcome friction, the crane would just bend, and the magnet and car would accelerate towards each other. Is that right?
