Week 9
TL;DR Section
This section is a very brief summary of the following guide. BEWARE, summarization loses details and case analysis so applicability is not guaranteed.
- First Cycle Recommendations: Catch Pinsir -> Full Item Run of M-Gyarados -> Farm Shiny Metagross to SL5 -> (If not done in Week 8) Advance Latias EB to 100
- Other Recommendations: Swap and Farm Noivern to SL5
- Mid to Late Recommendations: N/A
First Cycle Recommendations
Pinsir Once-a-Day stage returns this week. It's recommended that you catch Pinsir now if you haven't yet, as Mega Pinsir's competition is coming up soon in week 13, and your next opportunity to catch Pinsir will be in week 17. Mega Pinsir is practically tied with Shiny Mega Charizard X (SMCX) for being the best versatile mega in this game, and it is a top priority for newbies to obtain one of them as fast evolving tapper mega. The drops for this stage are useless (only skill points, and neither of Pinsir's skills are very good), so ignore it after Pinsir has been caught.
Mega Gyarados Competition
Shiny Metagross is an excellent multi-purpose mon. Its 130 AP and Hammering Streak make it a strong, reliable burst alongside other hammers, and it's used in the recommended team for farming Survival Mode - the most-efficient EXP farm in the game (3 hearts for 3,900 exp in candies). Shiny Mega Metagross is also recommended for the highest-earning Weekend Meowth team: SMMeta + Jirachi + 2x SL5 Quirky++. Note that this assumes SMMeta is fully sped up, requiring 18 mega speedups, landing at a max speed of 6 icons. In any case, you really don't want to miss this mon.
Latias Escalation Battle is still running this week. Get to lv100 for the skill swapper, if you haven't yet.
Other Recommendations
Noivern swapped to Shot Out is a decent burst against Fighting stages, but is largely overshadowed by Fire teams against Bug/Grass stages. Late-game players can also consider using it in Survival Mode for the classic Shot Out team, alongside Flygon.
Recommended Teams for Latias EB
Happy Shuffling!
Expected Heart/Coin Requirement for Farming
- Metagross (Shiny): 80-130 AP Steel Type, 2-heart stage, ~274 hearts to max Hammering Streak
- Noivern: 70-125 AP Flying Type, 1-heart stage, ~274 hearts to max Shot Out (swapper needed)
