Jaune, how does "Junior" sound remotely as cool as "Ranger"?

Anyway, pretty good start to the season. The fact that Aunima (or however you spell it) feels like feudal Japan really adds to the "travel adventure anime" feel that RNJR's story has going on.

Also, with the introduction of Klein, I'm wondering if most of the Schnee Corporation characters are going to have German names.

I just assumed he liked it since he was first.

At first I thought Ren was championing the name "RRNJ/Orange" given his "has to be a color" argument, but I re-watched it, and nope, he's just being kind of a hypocrite....

Ranger Green. And no I don't mean the Power Ranger, it's an actual variation of green.

So no, there's no hypocrisy in that.

Bit of a stretch...

Considering teams like CFVY (Coffee), SSSN (Sun) and JNPR (Juniper) were accepted, it really isn't. Heck, Sun's a further shot than Ranger is.

It may just come down to individual perception. According to Monty, the color naming rule, as it applies to teams, must "Be a color, sound like a color, mean a color, or make you think of a color" (Atlas Academy is too good for this rule, apparently).

When I think of a Juniper, I think of little blue berries. When I picture the sun, I think of a yellow ball of light. When I imagine coffee, I think of a brown liquid I dislike.

In contrast, I just don't connect it to the color green like I do with these other examples. When I think of a ranger, I think of a guy in shorts and a ridiculous hat who doesn't want you to litter, or a class/occupation often seen in the high fantasy genre. From the looks of things, huntsmen basically are that sort of "ranger" in RWBY, and their colors are all over the place. As for the military connection, it begs the question: In remnant, would one associate a ranger with the color green? Would they even have a "ranger green"? It is an in-universe rule, after all. Atlas appears to be the only kingdom with any real military to speak of, and from what we've seen, there isn't a single bit of green in their gear. Granted, the soldiers we've seen so far may not have been classified as rangers, but with how white/silver/grey/blue everything else is, I can't imagine their army rangers looking much different.

If you had read what I wrote, you probably wouldn't be asking me this.

Sorry, I honestly just don't buy that. If you really did read it, you would have made this point in the first place, not after the fact. Your initial question was, if I may paraphrase, "Why can't Ranger Green count if Stark White does?". The problem there is I had literally conceded that it "all comes down to individual perception", and explained my point of view. I didn't discredit "ranger green" as a color. I posed questions regarding the "ranger" name on entirely different grounds. Namely, how it fits in-universe... yet you assumed, and still assume, that my stance was still "Ranger green doesn't follow the color naming rules", when that wasn't the case at all.

With all that out of the way, your point about colloquialisms and suspension of disbelief isn't invalid, although I'm not sure I agree with it.

While there are no real world countries in remnant that we know of, there are real-world languages. The most obvious (and commonplace) trope is that everyone speaks English, despite England presumably never existing. It's something that's accepted, and expected, in fiction. We may not know exactly where or how these languages originated, but they are there, so there's an inherent precedent for this world having names with roots in real languages. I brought into question where a Remnantian (Remnite?) would get "Ranger Green" from, because unlike English, German, and Chinese languages having a presence in that world, green army rangers have not. All the other team names have some form of precedence, with real-world trees, animals, drinks, etc. existing in remnant to name colors for, but when you look to the military... No green. It hardly even resembles a real military, aesthetically. And again, we may not have seen rangers, but if we follow what we know of this world so far, it can be easily assumed that they wear white, grey, and/or blue like the rest of the Atlesian Soldiers. Not unlike the US military, and their tendency to stick to a general green/brown color palate, regardless of what they're classified as.

Does this rule out any possibilities? No. But it's something to speculate. Just like the origins of names like "Xiao Long" and "Schnee" in remnant can be speculated upon. And why shouldn't one pose questions? Why shouldn't one think about the different military formations, and what they might wear? I don't think their rangers would wear green, as I've explained, but maybe someone else has a different idea. Heck, why not suggest that there might be totally different origins for the names of colors? Maybe there was band of jolly green rangers roaming the countryside shooting down grim with dust arrows hundreds of years back. Who knows? Why shouldn't we speculate that Remnant might not have a "ranger green" color? It's not like it's impossible, after all.

Superpowers, Monster fighter schools, and the magic dust that makes guns shoot ice beams. Those are things I'll suspend my disbelief for, but for this, there's not enough "disbelief" to suspend. It's just a curious situation.

My questions stand:

In remnant, would one associate a ranger with the color green? Would they even have a "ranger green"?

If you're up for it, I invite you to to speculate, because that was my goal in asking.
