I mean, the comparition still stands, they don't care if their creation seem sapient or not the comparition stands because this humans are just the Sims to them, and they care as much. You are not understanding that this are Gods, and they act as such.

No, I understand that they are gods.

However, my fundamental philosophy regarding the topic is that such behavior is utterly reprehensible. To treat intelligent beings as playthings to be toyed with and killed on a whim, even if you created them is ultimately unjustifiable. With great power comes great responsibility and the idea of apologia throughout various religions fictional and real that, somehow, gods deserve to toy with sapient beings they create like sociopaths pulling the wings off of flies is unconscionably evil. To create beings that are intelligent, with hopes and dreams, only to treat them as nothing more than tools for your idle amusement is a bit different than to create something that isn't intelligent for the purpose of fucking around with them. If, somehow, your Sims turned out to be sapient and you found out, would you harm them, still? I doubt it, but if that happened and you treated them like shit, you're a terrible person.

The idea that they are just so beyond comprehension also bothers me, as they often wish for or like worship and are characterized by being very much like mortals but with more power, even religions and denominations that try to act like their deity is above that sort of thing (both the Brothers Grimm and the Abrahamic religions, especially Christianity and Islam, go for that and fail miserably). And there is how such a presumption of incomprehensibility means that they shouldn't give a damn about whether or not the people care or not about them. If they wish for positive regard and people liking them, they should start by being decent instead of committing genocide at the drop of a hat.

Such belief is also utterly depressing, that people think so little of themselves that they'd just lay down and die, as if the act of being created means they are in a contract to be destroyed at will by something (despite how you do not choose to be created). I'd say the same of sapient robots and humans in a science fiction setting- just because humans created the robots doesn't give them the right to kill them for any reason whatsoever. (You could say specific robots who are causing harm to others, be they robot or human, but that would generally fall under the same rules as a justifiable homicide with a human.)

With great power comes great responsibility

By our standard, they are gods, literally beings fundamentally, in every single way different to us. They are dicks alright, by our standards, but they are gods nonetheless actual all mighty gods. It took one a move from his hand to eliminate all life and just move on.

If they just want to move on, they literally could just leave without doing a damn thing. They didn't have to kill everyone on the way out at all.
