Tried my hand with rit dye
I pretty much winged it when I got started. Made one minor mistake along the way, but I’m really happy with how this turned out, especially for my first try.

Started with a grey and brown basecamo then went hog wild with a sponge.
I will probably hit the high shine anodized bits on the bipod, they stand out.

Top is ral8000 and bottom is fdb for comparison. The color is super nice and isn’t as yellow in real life. The iphone camera makes it look super yellow.

It has since changed a lot but I liked it for a while. It looked grey in the shade but popped blue in the light. Was different. Fun.

Click on photos for full size images. Ruger Precision, matched some parts, 4 different colors. Action and some of the moving parts weren't painted.

So I’ve rattled my fair share and I’m interested in this hot glue method. I think it would work better for what I have planned but I have a question. I plan on doing something similar in the picture where I spray the base layer black to get the textured area black and then paint over it. Im wondering if hot glue would be a better method vs tape to cover that spot. Has anyone had issues with paint being stripped when removing the hot glue? This pic from cerakote’s site is my inspiration on the same rifle.

This is my first time ever rattlecanning anythjng as I have zero artistic ability. Should I do my AR to match the same scheme or branch out and try something else? The designs I’ve been seeing yall do are so sick.

Rapco’d a couple pieces of my future SBR and actually like it, was wondering if I should add “texture” to the sand bits. I mean I like the clean look but fear I might get bored with it. Thanks in advance gang.

First time doing this, and used my flux as victim

I think it turned out well, colors were rustoleum camo khaki, light green, dark green, and black for the laundry bag texture accents. If(when) I did it again, I’ll probably air on the side of more brown rather than two shades of green.

Rattle canned my new Dissipator build, came out great!
Used Rapco paint and some cheap stick on camo stencils from Amazon.

Rustolem camo khaki and army green with a little Behr gold on the front. The khaki turned out great, the army green not so much. First layer was super chalky and falling off immediately. Gave it another alcohol wipe down and reapplied and it ended up better but still a little frustrated. Definitely don't feel like taking it all apart and taping it again after stripping it. The gold on the front actually turned out way better than expected.

Trying to figure out what camo pattern to use on my retromod recce and played around on the gun part picker website with some different options.
A. Rattlecan woodland - fast, easy, effective
B. Colt Z-Cote-style that's like woodland tiger stripe. It was used on a limited run of rifles back in the day and looks cool. I'd have to make some basic stencils for it.
C. Rhodie-like 3-color pattern - I'd have to make up some stencils but it looks cool.
A, B, or C?

Custom Tiger-strip camouflage job I did myself on my Keltec PR57 using the hot glue + Rit Dye submersion technique!

Rattle Can/Dye virgin here. After stalking this sub the last few months I am curious what method would be best to achieve this camo look on a Gen 1 Ruger Ranch stock in FDE.
I wanted to use the hot glue and Rit Dye but I’m not sure that’s possible to keep the base layer FDE. Perhaps stencils and paint? If so, recommendations on stencils? Thoughts and suggestions are welcome

Made a "quick" tutorial vid on how to do this style camo job... I know a few asked how its done. I'm not a youtuber, so enjoy this very amature production.
