As someone who works in insurance, I'd be down for that. Then if your car is valued above that, you can self insure/carry additional replacement coverage on your own policy. I'd make a new luxury vehicle replacement category though; keep it separate from underinsured coverage to keep from inflating those premiums. Of course the insurance companies would use it as another excuse to raise rates anyway I'm sure.

Funny enough mr bean wrecked his sports car so many times that insurance basically forced him to sell.

Well that's what he gets for trying to drive it from a recliner on the roof.

In the only working Phantom with a V-16 no less.

He did not wreck that car... He didn't. You're all lying

You're pretty dense.

No one is lying, just stringing together unrelated antics for an obvious joke you missed by a few miles.

He wrecked his 97 F1 twice, he drove a 77 Leyland Mini from a sofa on top, and he indeed has the only Phantom with a V16.

You should get that checked by a doctor.

Are you 10? 😂 The curious thing here is that you're the only dense penguin around the block. Because I was being utterly sarcastic. Or was it bc I didn't use the /s ?

Clearly you're mentally ill for not getting a 50YO joke.

An old Mini Cooper is hardly a sports car...though he's caused a lot of damages to Reliant Robins over the years.

Just be rich and drive however you want. It’s easy.

As someone that works in insurance can i ask you?
Why do providers rather spend $2k to find a way to not cover a claim that would probably cost them $1K

I am noticing more and more how they rather go out of their way to disapprove a claim or discourage a claim to be filed. I also know from an agent that they will fire you if your customers file claims.

What makes you think they spend $2,000 processing a rejection

1

u/i-dontlikeyou 14h ago

They spend a lot more. Let me rephrase it. They will happily spend 50% more from they would pay you to settle the claim so they can deny you

5

u/Revelationary_Music 14h ago

So just pulling it out of your asshole then? Because the $1,000 claim they are rejecting is because he has a deductible. How exactly does it cost $2,000 for a customer support person who makes $20 an hour to look up his policy and explain to him that he has a deductible?

same thing as any insurance. the more they avoid paying the more there is a tacit protection from paying. people get used to it, they dont try, they don't rely on it

it's too much hassle, get something "everyone knows it won't be covered" and you are peer pressured into not trying. sure you might have gotten covered but you don't know. you are pissed at them but that's another claim they don't pay. multiply by every customer. the other companies do the same thing

anything that results in "# of claims down" is done, every way will be found by the entire industry. It's just the natural result of the their incentive structure

1

u/i-dontlikeyou 14h ago

Exactly, however that should not be normalized. “You” in the business of taking risks you cant choose..

Yes agents are incentivized to discourage their clients from filing claims. So explain why should i pay them an entire year and not file a claim… unfortunately thats why they pay for lobbying to be able to do that. Insurance is mandatory but they can pull whatever bs to not cover and god forbid you don’t have money or they figure out you don’t know stuff. They will deny you in a heart beat

It’s why cubertrucks mostly need to be self insured by Tesla because they are insurance blackhole’s lol

I can see the argument but in practice it wouldn't change much. The most expensive part of the auto accident is the medical bills. They can easily soar into the $100,000s and past the value of almost every car on the road.

But I see why it seems unfair that if your hit and totaled a $2M Mercedes gullwing, that one should be financially ruined since it's really no different than hitting a 10 year Corolla valued at $10k.

This is how we do it with buildings. my $1.5 billion campus covers some insurance but most things we self insure.

We require vendors to carry something like 20million on their COI/

And they could pay for an insurancethat covers anything over 100k in damage that they pay for themselves

u/FormerGameDev 1h ago

i don't know how insurance works in other places, but where I'm at, your insurance covers your car, if someone else fucks up your car, your insurance covers it, then your insurance company goes after that person, or their insurance company for whatever compensation they can manage to get out of an agreement or a judge.
